  5. Guy I have checked and it is 520mm between the UJ's so it is what you want. Sorry, I have already got a replacement so I don't need yours. Andy D
  6. Guy The shaft is the longer of what I believe are available from Caterham. Overall length is 708 mm from the mating face of the diff flange to the end of the splined shaft The K series is the shorter one. I am converting to Duratec so I have now got a K version to replace this. Stace and Flee7y I will send photos of the silencer

  8. Has anyone had an input shaft machined down ? This is to reduce the shaft to the equivalent of the short type. I guess the risks are the shaft is case hardened and this could peel off. Or Does anyone know a supplier of a short input shaft. I prefer to fit it myself as I am on a tight budget (Santa has limited funds !)
  9. Still looking for one or.... Has anyone ever had one machined down to make it work?? is the steel case hardened and will shell off or is it good enough to stand the modifications?? Can you tell I'm a Yorkshireman
  10. Exhaust now sold to Stu Bell housing still for sale, proceeds to NTL You know you need one to hold down your hot air balloon, tie to the wife's feet and send her swiming etc. etc.......... 😬
  11. Looks like I need to get some very precise measurements of the propshaft length I have now, then set the box in postion and find the exact length needed for the new position. Thanks for your help
  12. OooErrr Thanks Peter Something strange going on then. The gearbox support plate in the tunnel has 2 positions and they are 50 mm apart! I assumed the shafts would be different by 50 mm (2"). This is a De Dion chassis, does that have an effect on anything?
  13. Thanks Nick The 35 mm spacer on mine moves the engine forwards in relation to the box and I guess this is because of the length of the gearbox input shaft. I see what you mean on the bell housings as my old one is a significant lump of steel and that does explain the reason. By using the K shaft it will gain significant distance backwards. Yes it is a Raceline 4 to 1 and it does look tight! Not looking forward to hole cutting thro the car skins!!
  14. Does anyone know why the gearbox (type 9)on a crossflow engine is mounted on the front fixing point on the chassis (96 De Dion) and the K is on the rear most mounts. I am trying to set out for a Duratec and I think I need to get the engine as far back as possible to allow the exhaust to fit correctly. It appears that the K has a shorter prop shaft and this would gain 50 mm compared to the crossflow prop shaft ? Andy D
  15. Dave The long input shaft is 208mm from the main front face of the gearbox to the tip of the shaft. I need one that is 176 mm. This will allow me to remove the alloy spacer I have between the bell housing and gearbox. Thanks Andy Please reply to andy@doughty5.freeserve.co.uk
  16. Hi Jorgan. You are now 3rd in the list as I was mailed off line. I will let you know Thanks Andy

  18. Anyone got one for sale please ?
  19. Crossflow stainless comp exhaust, 4 into 1, silencer and alloy heat shield . Has got a stone dent in the tail pipe but otherwise generally good. £200 ovno Cast Iron bell housing for crossflow to type 9 with rubber gaiter CRB and arm £10 to NTL Removed for Duratec conversion. Plus anyone got a short input shaft for a type 9?
  20. I think the cheap way (if you have access to a welder) is to find a bolt with a head that fits the plug then drill a hole through the end of a piece of flat bar and weld it on. It make a cheap slim spanner.
  21. I have a 1600 which will be taken out of my 96 sprint soon if thats any good? It will probably need a refresh anyway. 26k miles.
  22. George Sorry, yes sold. Regards Andy D
