  1. Today I was fortunate to trial the above powder coating system. For some time I've been meaning to re paint the 'eye brow' above the cut off switch on the car. I had previously sprayed it with satin cellulose spray paint but it was looking tatty again. The gun needs a low (5-8psi) supply of compressed air, a spray booth or a simple booth made from a cardboard box and an oven capable of holding a temperature of around 230C (not your home cooking oven as the curing smell which contaminate any future food cooked in their). The results were pretty impressive, a thin very smooth hard gloss finish (gloss powder). Some things I learnt You cannot overload the item with powder as the static attraction becomes less when a certain thickness is on the item. The oven is obviously the determining factor of the size of item you can coat You can empty a pot of powder pretty quickly when you don't check the psi and fire it at 80psi! The powder coating will not disguise a poor finish on the item The finish is not good when you drop the item on the floor when taking it out of the oven! (A test sample thank goodness) You need to add a vacuum cleaner as an essential part of the kit! Overall I am very impressed and I can see my spanner set being colour coded shortly !
  2. 2 so far from the Shropshire Sevens. (Cheque's in the post as they say!).
  3. I've currently have a front mounted fan but need to replace the leaking radiator. Apart from gaining space what is the advantage or reason for front mounting the radiator fan. I've searched the archives and can find no technical reason.
  4. Standard black horn button wanted as per picture below
  5. If you can obtain a Pela vacuum pump or similar just take the fitting off the top of the Apollo tank and suck away.......job done........simples! Also can be good for sucking the oil out of the Diff, over filled coolant header tanks, oil out of lawn mowers etc etc
  6. Nick Chan's has a history of 'projects' such as this!
  7. The weather so you can do another 1000
  8. Thanks Adrian, I seem to have 3 anodised one and one polished one on the car so it would be sensible to just replace the polished one although like you the polished ones do look much better.
  9. I am considering having my set refurbished Were the original aluminium rims polished or anodised aluminium? When did they change or was it just an option?
  10. I have a spare set of CC Carbon Fibre Aero Mirrors for sale. These are currently £462 on the Parts Site. The Mirrors on all three are perfect and the Carbon has been sprayed and polished with bees wax spray for the photos. £150 the set including UK postage.
  11. Back one goes onto the existing boot cover front stud and the bottom two on the corners of the half door. Should be able to sort the bottom two once the top two are fitted.
  12. With the doors on unfortunately. The position of the stud on the scuttle is shown in the build manual with its measurements.
  13. My buckles are on the left side of the seat on both seats.
  14. Ordered the adhesives Barry recommended, many thanks for the advice
  15. I intend to get the front lower aero wishbones re-powder coated this winter. Can anyone point me in the direction of the correct replacement bushes from CC or alternatively elsewhere. Car is a 2002 R500K. Many thanks in advance.
  16. Have an inch long crack/split in a a rear pre-preg non glossy rear wing. I have some CF scrap pieces to strengthen from the back but need advice what resin/adhesive is best to use. The split/crack closes up nicely and would want to repair from the rear. Would epoxy resin (araldite) make a good bond or do I need to use polyester resin as in GRP manufacture?
  17. Just ring up in the morning and buy them over the phone. 0845 567 0000
  18. I had an issue with a stiff gear lever caused by corrosion on the ball and found the greasing did not help (believe it's a dry bearing) so it was a replacement spherical bearing in the end.
  19. Cut with scissors. We sell them into schools for D&T practical work also into science departments.
  20. Surely most of the weight is in the liquid which evaporates off. I'd be surprised if when dry it's over a kilo or two at the most.
  21. Much easier to watch the voltage drop on the battery for instance when starting. Also I'm a bit of a Luddite being brought up on a traditional AVO Jonathan.
  22. So cheap these days it's worth getting both a digital one and an analogue one.
