  1. Also, I rang Quaife and they quoted me a 4 month waiting list for their six-speed sequential. I'd go for the standard Caterham 6 speed box. It's fun and the ratios (in my R500) are brilliant. Jules
  2. Pierre, the R500 is fitted with Avon 215/50 R13 85V on the rear and 175/55 R13 75V on the front. I've never had a Caterham before but I can tell you that they appear to be fantastic. Also and equally important, after a thrashing at the Nurburgring they don't seem to have worn at all. Jules
  3. One way the format could be improved would be to turn the forums round so that the most recent message is the first, and the oldest the last. This would avoid the irritating need to scroll down every topic to see the latest messages. This is even worse when there are two or even three pages. It can't be too difficult, and would make an already good format even better. Jules.
  4. Thanks Chris, - it's all loaded up for tomorrow morning and I've put the hood up. Jules.
  5. Some of you guys must have experience of trailering your Sevens (as opposed to towing, which is a different subject !) What is the best way;- with the hood up ?, with the sidescreens off and the tonneau on ? Also, do any of you put a cover over the car ? - I would have thought the latter would be a bit unaerodynamic and noisy. Before I come in for a load of "why don't you drive the bloody thing" stick, the Nordschleiffe is a heck of a long way to drive in unpadded carbon-fibre seats and I want to make sure I can get it home if I er, make an error of judgement ! Any advice would be greatly appreciated Jules
  6. Marius, Thanks for the advice, - I wonder who was at the Nurburgring yesterday ? - I'm going there next Wednesday for a bit of fun. As for the "go easy" I'm not sure that's what I bought it for ! And Paul, - I too used to get a flame on over-run and down-change, but I've just picked it up this morning from the factory afterit's first service and the flame seems to have disappeared. The noise is still as orgasmic however. Jules
  7. Alex, If Caterham arew offering them for £97.00 plus VAT, take it. My local specialist supplier quoted me (also today) £133.45 + VAT for the fronts, and £148.45 + VAT for the rears, fitted and balanced. However they are saying that Avon are saying (!) they supply Caterham with 175/55/13's and 205/55/13's for the R500. I thought the vehicle was fitted with 185/55R13's & 215/50R13's. - Some of you might ask why I don't go into the garage and look ! The answer is my R500 is at Caterham having it's first service.
  8. Paul, I too have an R500 and love the noise,- especially through all 6 gears under "a bit" of pressure ! Caterham are well aware of the problem and are currently working on it. Sadly it's not just the silencer end, it's also the induction end, so you'll get caught on track days one way or another. It strikes me we might need our own pressure group .....!!! Regards, Jules.
  9. "Obvious" - yes "Womens' logic, brilliant" never. By the way Anor. I think it is you who are now in detention, - you put the apostrophe in the wrong place! LOL Jules.
  10. Peter, It's at the "Goudhurst Service Station" - the Roller & Bentley dealer on the road from the A21 (just North of Lamberhurst) to Goudhurst, next door to the "Green Cross Inn".
  11. Then we should get together !!!
  12. Tim, Do you have any details ie. tel nos. costs etc. Also when you are trailering your 7 is it nude or can you put your cover on it ? Advice appreciated. Regards, Jules
  13. Anna do you actually drive a CAterham ? or are Pontefract cakes and Dom Perignon your buzz ? (By the way, there's nothing wrong with the last two there amongst my favourites). Jules
  14. Chris, "Specialised car covers" (from whom I purchased my Ferrari cover, do 2 types for a Caterham:- 100% cotton (indoor dust covers only)at £145.00, in pale blue, dark blue Ferrari red, burgundy, BRG & silver grey. Apparently Caterham won't let them put the correct logo on the cover but you can have the Lotus logo. Outside (4 ply) rainproof covers are £165.00 in grey only and with no logo. I can vouch for these covers being excellent quality as I already use them myself. Any other leads ? Jules
  15. If any of you guys still "crave" for leaded fuel and live in the T. Wells/Tonbridge area, I know where you can get it (legally !)on a standard village garage forecourt. Jules
  16. Chris, I would like a cover for my 7 as well. If you find a decent quality/value one let me know, - we might get a discount for bulk ! Regards, Jules
  17. Anna, Meet me back in the "non-Anorak" forum. Jules
  18. ERRATA !!! When I said on her I meant she pays !
  19. Clever dick ! Maybe we should have a competition for the speediest donning of a harness from standing outside the car. Perhaps the winner could get an evening with Anna Rexia - on her ! Actually this reply is addressed to the wrong forum. LOL Jules
  20. Alex, Because it takes me 5 mins to get the belts on and 5 secs for the lap & digonal. If I'm just popping to the pub or the villahge the temptation to not use the harness is rather great. I know of many Caterham owners who have both and it seems the ideal solution. Regards, Jules
  21. A small warning to all you R500 buyers who are having the carbon fibre seats (as you should !) it is impossible to fit lap & diagonal belts in addition to the racing harness. You can easily get the complicated bit in but not the "female" part, it won't go between the seat and the tunnel.
  22. My washer bottle started leaking before I'd even started the engine after building my Superlight R500 last week ! - and it still leaks.
