Pierre,
If you are interested, my R500 FIA roll bar could be for sale (I have fitted a full roll cage). I don't particularly want to sell it, but if you are in need,I could be tempted!
E.mail me privately.
Regards,
Jules.
Why is it that I enter my username and password, I tick the "check here to include your profile signature" and the "Check here to remember details" boxes, and a couple of days later it's all blank again and I have to re-enter the details ?

I know this isn't a Caterham problem but one of you clever guys out there must know the answer!
My Renault 21 Turbo was modified by BBR and the suspension geometry was altered to avoid the horrendous torque steer you get when feeding nearly 300 horses through the front wheels.
My "After-Care Maintenance card from BBR states a toe-out setting of "10 mins". What does this equate to in modern "laser" language. The nearest I can calculate is 1mm but I could be well wrong! and, having put a brand new set of SO2's on I would like to get it right.Help please,
Jules
Arnie,
I've taken your advice and bought a second scuttle with c/f wraparound deflector. Caterham are currently painting it for me.
Any advice on how to avoid their £150.00 bill for the rear view mirror (Have got the side mirrors already).

The windscreen on my R500 was destroyed at SPA whilst passing a racing GT3. I want to buy a new screen (on the insurance company) but don't want to fit it until the Autumn/Winter. I would like to purchase Caterhams's replacement unit which I can put Brooklands screens on.
Zoe & Tim Ward at Caterham are saying it is a 4 1/2 hour job which I just cant believe. Thewre are only four bolts on the Stanchions so what's the problem? Anyone out there got any experience? or can give me some advice?
Jules
Rupe,
I built my R500 in 42 1/2 hours (2 of us) but beware of missing bits in the 10 boxes you receive. Also, it's much more fun to build with a pal so long as you have a pass out from "The Boss". I got so excited that I didn't want to pack up till 4-5 in the morning!!!

Mine cost mew £6.50 for the mount, and 20 minutes with a welder to fashion a mount for the "Petty Bar".
At Brands 2 weeks ago, Duke videos put their camera on my roll bar, then in the afternoon put it on my Petty bar device. I did 10 or so laps dicing with Richard Ince and Duke were astounded by the quality and are going to use the footage unedited in their new trackday video. - Just shows you don't need to throw money at these things.

16 track days, mostly dry ones and 1200 road miles saw my first set of CR500's out. The second set have done 8 track days
(3 wet), and despite nearly ruining them on first outing by inadvertantly running them at 8psi! for 7 laps, they are still looking like new. I think you are right, you had a faulty tyre.

I know I am a "K" series man but I have a serious question for all you Vauxhall engine experts.
If you had a bog standard HPC and were looking to improve it's performance on a fairly tight budget, where would you start ?
The obvious things are adjustable bilstein front dampers, perhaps suitably shod 13" wheels; but what about the engine ? How could £1000.00 be best spent ?
I would be grateful for any advice.
Thanks,
Jules
Andy's posting is very informative and correct. It all comes down to the additives in the fuel that the supermarkets never used to bother with for cost reasons. Times have now changed and the fuel that supermarkets now sell is comparable with any main highstreet brand.

CC the problem with Curborough is that you don't get any heat in the tyres because it's only 1 1/2 laps. I ran 17 front 18 rear on CR500's and after three goes, consecutively the pressures were almost the same.

Has anybody changed their fuel filler for the "Aerofiller" type?
Caterham sent me a replacement for my R500 one. Having drilled out the 6 rivets I found that the aerofiller needed 8 holes, none of which matched up with the originals.
- Simple solution I re-rivetted the original!
I was just wondering if maybe Caterham had sent me the wrong one?

Saw it at Brands Hatch earlier this year. It had a for sale sign with a "Skull & Crossbones" over the top. - Not I would think for the fainthearted ore inexperienced. Imagine what happens on a damp road when the turbo kicks in at 3500 rpm! The mind boggles!
