  1. As with the seats, I'll sell the wheels if the new owner doesn't want them.
  2. Mark, If I sell the car and the new owner doesn't want the seats then I will sell them separately. Tiptree, I doubt it, but tell me what you have in mind. Alastair
  3. 1998 Superlight R (Pre-SVA). Factory built. Caterham racing green with white nose band. Dry Sump. 27,000 miles (full rebuild by Caterham at 24,000 miles). Plumbed-in fire extinguisher. Battery cut-off. Windscreen and weather equipment. Heater. Adjustable leather seats and a pair of Tillett seats. Superlight split rims with CR500s and black minilites with 21Rs. Fibreglass wings. Brand new de-dion tube and rebuilt rear suspension. MOT untill Feb 2003. £18,000 ono. Alastair
  4. This is probably a stupid question but I will ask it anyway. Can you use 6.5 inch rims on the rear of an SLR without spinning the wheels constantly in the lower gears? I want to put something like 021Rs on the car because I don't fancy crossplys and CR500s are very expensive. I haven't seen O21Rs in the correct size. Alastair
  5. Thanks for the info. I just wanted to make sure that the car was running properly because in the SV article in this month's Low Flying 35 mpg was quoted. I don't think I'm getting soft. The hailstones were bouncing off my head on the Snake Pass yesterday morning! Strangely, every other 'sports car' had it's roof on.
  6. I've just seen the thread about temperatures so no need to reply to that question.
  7. What sort of fuel economy can I expect to get out of an SLR in normal road use? The best I get is 23 mpg. Also, my temperature guage struggles to get much past 45 unless I'm stopped in traffic and never ets anywhere near 80. Is this common, or is the sensor faulty? Thanks, Alastair
  8. I have an R registered car. I would like to put the registration on a white sick on strip on top of the nose cone, instead of the ugly white plastic board that is bolted underneath the grill. Is this legal, provided the correct fonts, character sizes, spacings and background are used? If so, does anyone know where I can get such a thing made? Alastair
  9. Paul - changing gear in the middle of an overtake increases the risk of the overtake. A missed gear would be a bad. If you are in the middle of a gear change an the situation changes unexpectedly (the person being overtaken swerves for example) you could find yourself unable to take avoiding action. Finally changing gear is a distraction in the middle of hazardous manouver, where all your concentration should be directed to what is going on around you. Phew, lesson over. Consult Roadcraft for further details. Or Hugh at Cadence, John Lyon or a myriad of others.
  10. Hi, Can anyone recommend tyre pressures for a Superlight R running on Avon's CR500 tyres? I use the car mostly on the road but I want to do some more track days next year. The tyres are 175/13 on the front and 215/13 on the rear. Thanks, Alastair
