  1. I've just MOT'd my car again this year, but i'm worrying that I might not get through when the new system comes in next year. My car is a 1999 T that was kit built. It has a 4 into 1 and NO cat. The chaps that have MOT'd it thus far have never even thought of looking at the emissions, but i know that the new system will tell them what to do rather than let them use any judgement. I had thought that my car needed a cat for the SVA, but as it was kit built would not need one for the MOT. Can anyone give me a definitive answer on this please? 2. The MOT chaps at Longshot lane in Bracknell are fantastic. No issues and very careful to the point of getting me to do most of the work !! Comments to one of the younger testers from the boss included: "Now this is someone who looks after their car" "Now don't piss about lad, just take a look at how its maintained" Very nice man indeed...oh and you just turn up, no appointment needed. p.s. just along from Bracknell Tyre and Battery if you need the tyres from the cheapest source known to anyone in the south east. 3. less than a fiver for the three small guages. Caterham recommend you buy them with something else as their minimum price is a fiver :-) T 1 PPB - Superlight ...Well yes officer I'm not arguing, it's just that [insert excuse here]...
  4. Just had another chat to CC and they are trying to source some ones that are the correct spec. They'll let me know when they get some in stock. p.s. they seem to think that it is a one size fits all guages situation. 5. The O rings on gauges on my 1999 Superlight (carbon dash) need replacing. The ones Caterham sent are not to the same spec as the originals. Any ideas where I might get some that are the same as the originals? FYI The old ones appear to have a square section, whilst the Caterham supplied ones are a round section and much larger in cross section. 6. I think you might see Cosworth as the official supplier, not Ford though. T 1 PPB - Superlight ...Well yes officer I'm not arguing, it's just that [insert excuse here]...
  7. hmm I think you have apoint. Maybe i'll have another chat to Dave at DVA about options and costs again... Thanks for the thoughts chaps. T 1 PPB - Superlight ...Well yes officer I'm not arguing, it's just that [insert excuse here]...
  8. Cheers Dave, much appreciated. I'll see if the sellers will take an offer :-) T 1 PPB - Superlight ...Well yes officer I'm not arguing, it's just that [insert excuse here]...
  9. £995 or £1000 depending on weather it is a 1.8 or VVC. The VVC might be interesting but not at £1000. T 1 PPB - Superlight ...Well yes officer I'm not arguing, it's just that [insert excuse here]...

  13. I'm looking to go from a 1.6 to a 1.8, so need a short engine at minimum. Anyone got any idea what I should pay for one? There are a couple on ebay at present, but they seem a little expensive. T 1 PPB - Superlight ...Well yes officer I'm not arguing, it's just that [insert excuse here]...
  14. Why not just run the fan constantly? I've had two thermostatic switches fail on me, resulting in overheating. So I just bypass the thermoswitch and run the fan constantly. That way I have removed one point of failure and the temp sits at 80 under nearly all conditions. Can't really see a downside either as the fan always ran whenever I was using the car properly, or stuck in traffic anyway. 15. So the real question you have to ask is "When the agreement with Rover comes up for renewal, what will Caterham go with?" From what I hear in the industry it won't be a Rover product :-) In fact a certain well known engine manufacturer with a small link to Caterham may be involved. Think about how Caterham and this company would both benefit form joint marketing and you might come up with the answer Cos it mat be worth it 😬 T 1 PPB - Superlight ...Well yes officer I'm not arguing, it's just that [insert excuse here]...
