  1. I have a few bits I would like to sell from the garage. 1 x Pair Black 7 Headlights. (good condition) @ £25 for the pair. 1 x Rear exit silencer, including the side box, heatshield and the link pipe. Again hardly used. Internal diameter of the pipe entry on the side box is 2.1/4" (Standard SLR exhaust system). @ £60 1 x 6" side exit exhaust, with heatshield, again 2.1/4". @ £50 1 x Mountney leather steering wheel 11" (good condition). @ £18 1 x Pace corner weight guage, hardly used. @ £45. 1 x Micro Dynamics Performance Meter, Measures acceleration/braking, and lateral G. 0-60 etc. ( I can't find the manual for this at the moment, but I am sure Micro Dynamics could help) @ £45 I don't logon to Blatchat that often nowadays so anyone interested, please email me on andy.checkley@alphalantech.net . Thanks. (I am located near West Malling/Sevenoaks in Kent). Edited by - andy checkley on 10 Mar 2004 17:14:53
  2. Armourfend is great stuff. I have had it on my rear wings for two years now without Caterham stone protectors and the wings are still in perfect condition. I can't rate it highly enough. Expensive though. I had my nosecone done as well as on each side to stop the seat belts and people getting in and out from damaging the paintwork and this cost about £200.
  3. Ive have never really understood the real world differences between running 15" and 13" wheels/tyres. I currently run the standard 13" split rims with ACB10s on my SLR, however on my previous VVC Seven I ran 15" A032s, and for my style of driving, I think I prefered the way in which the 15" setup worked for me. (This probably says a lot about my driving style). Certainly in track performance terms I cannot drive my SLR much quicker on a track than I could my VVC with 15" wheels and A032s.
  4. Pete, thats interesting. The way in which the factory explained the problem, it seems that the the 20amp fuse is right on the limit and any surges created by perhaps the starting procedure, would be just enough to blow the fuse. Perhaps the circuit breaker you have fitted is a bit more tolorent on surges than a fuse would be. We will replace the 20amp fuse with a 30amp as per the factory recommendation and I will post back in a few months to let everyone know whether it has cured the problem. 5. Thanks for the advice. I think like all of you, I am also unhappy fixing this type of problem by simply uprating a fuse so I have just spoken to the factory and aparently they are now fitting 30amp fuses as standard to all cars leaving the factory. This is because they have discovered that the 20amp fuse is right on the limit which can lead to this type of itermitent failure. I am assured that there is no risk to the ECU by fitting the 30amp fuse. I think I will be changing the ECU fuse in mine as well. Thanks everyone.
  6. My friends 1800 K series Roadsport has started to blow ECU fuses. The first time the engine didn't restart after stalling the car. We aren't sure whether the fuse blew and caused the stall or whether the fuse blew when he tried to restart the car. Once the blown fuse had been discovered and replaced, it seemed ok. We think it may be related, although we arn't sure, but one of the connectors on the battery cut out master switch had come loose. The fuse blew again the other day when he started the car after filling up. He checked the fuse straight away and it had again blown, so he replaced it and it blew again four or five times before the problem cleared and the car started ok without a problem. Has anyone any ideas that may help us with this one? Thanks in advance.
  7. Allen, I was rung almost straight away by someone living locally, before I had seen your posting. Amazingly the doors had been collected and paid for by about 10:30, Sorry.
  8. Julians, I sent the mail at 12:15 with address details etc. If you haven't received it give me a call on my mobile 07770-727347.
  9. Bill, I still have the screen. Its the full width, smoked black perspex type. The mountings are black perspex blocks which are threaded and attached to the bottom of the screen. You will have to drill your scuttle, and then use the screws through the underside of the scuttle to attach the screen. The screws are included. If you still want it give me a call to arrange pickup.
  10. Can anyone recommend a good starting point for front/rear tyre pressures on a 140bhp Superlight running with CR500's front and rear on standard 13inch 6J rims. Thanks.
  11. Allen/Cookie, the doors went more or less as soon as I put up the post. Julians, the boot cover is for an FIA bar so if you want it you have the boot cover, I have replied to your email with address details etc. The JPE screen is still available for anyone who wants it.
  12. 1 x JPE Wind Deflector - £60.00 (Good Condition). 1 x Pair Half Doors - £60.00 pair (As New). 1 x Boot Cover for Car Without Hood Sticks £15.00 (Good Condition). I am located near West Malling in Kent and I can be contacted on 07770 727347 or andy.checkley@alphalan.demon.co.uk.
  13. I was thinking of a K&N or other "high performance air" filter when I had my old VVC rolling roaded a few years ago, so I asked them to do me two charts, one with the standard Caterham filter and one with the filter removed completely, and there was absolutely no difference. So I guess that unless you like the look of another filter you may as well stick with the standard Caterham one.
  14. Pierre, I really don't know. I suspect it was based on with/without rather than a comparision of the the standard v the smaller units. I am sure that someone will be along soon who may be able to shed a bit more "light" on it. When I was originally discussing the headlights, the same guy said that the standard upright windscreen is worth 18bhp at top end. Again I am not sure whether this is a with / without windscreen or windscreen v wind deflector. Again I am sure that there is significant drag caused by the windscreen, although I am not sure how the 18bhp figure was arrived at. Although not scientific, I had an interesting run following an R500 on the Brands Hatch GP circuit last year in my SLR. My car has no windscreen, but the R500 did. We both exited Surtees at about the same speed, and I was surprised that I kept up with him down pilgrims drop which is a very fast part of the circuit, 130mph plus. I know that there are many reasons this may happen, but the windscreen v no windscreen may have played a part. I am sure there is some complicated maths at the bottom of this stuff, but I think its like lightening the car. No one single item makes a significant difference but all the small improvements do have a noticable overall effect.
