I don't have an FIA roll bar - do you reckon it will still fit? The info in the web seemed to imply that they were made specifically for FIA roll bars?? Cheers Rob

  3. Thanks Brent. Yes, I do vaguely remember seeing those in a mag once. Sounds promising. The main use would be for long distance hauls on motorways in UK and France. How much would you want if you were going to sell? Any pics?

Has anyone has any experience of wind deflectors for a Caterham - by "wind deflectors" I mean the mesh frames that go behind the driver & passenger to prevent you getting a parting in the back of your head, not the perspex side deflectors. If so, do they work? Can you buy them? If not has anyone tried to make one? Thanks Rob

  6. Thanks for the info. I don't know what oil was used - I'll check with the caterham garage that serviced it. From what I remember he oil pressure didn't seem low, but I'll check the 4 bar thing next time I run it. Can you suggest an oil I should used? rob
  7. I have a 1.4SS that I use for occasional track days. When I bring the car in after a session, the engine sounds fine, but when I restart it after a 10 minute cool down, it sounds very "tappety". The tappety noise eventually goes after afew minutes. The noise seems to get worse as the day wears on, but only happens for the few minutes after restarting, and when the engine is hot. Any ideas why this may be happening? Should I worry?

    Gear ratios

    Thanks for the advice everyone. It looks like I have 2 realistic options: - fit a close ratio 5 speed - save up for a new 6 speed car (I reckon it's uneconomic to spend 3000 on my existing car). Where's my piggy bank......

    Gear ratios

    I have a 1.4SS and I feel it would benefit hugely from closer gear ratios. My options appear to be: - Change the diff ratio - Fit a close ratio 5 speed - Fit a close ratio 6 speed (expensive) I know this would remove the "over-drive" that the current 5th gear gives me, but it is so long I hardly ever use it anyway, and on the track I never use it. Anyone have any advice?? Rob

    Track Day Tyres

    Sorry if this is an old topic but I'm new around here! Can anyone tell me the best tyres to use for track days and the optimum wheel size?? I recently borrowed a set of four 185 Yoko A032R on 13 inch wheels for a track day at Cadwell - I found them to be excellent with loads of grip and progressive. But I am told they are poor in the wet, which seems to account for 50% of track days! Someone said the A021R is better all round. Can someone enlighten me?
