  1. Cheers Steve, I will give it a go and see what happens.. Jon ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  2. All, I am just changing the diff on my ford equipped LA supersprint. One of the half-shafts was easily extracted with finger tips... the other is solid, immovable and other wise stuck fast. I have improvised a slide hammer but this has not worked, I have tried fitting an old inverted brake drum and parallel hitting it (simultaneous hits either side of the drum). I should get the loan of a slide hammer soon, and failing this I will try to screw some bolts through the axle casing to press against the bearing cap and try to loosen it that way. Does anyone know the thread on the axle so I can order some long bolts? Also, why would one half shaft be such a problem? Finally, the axle is just hanging from the rear shocks, I have disconnected the A-frame and the rear links, would this make the slide hammer less efficient as the axle is now free to slide sideways to some extent. 3. I need to swap the diff on my Ford equipped LA car, but I don't want the hassle of taking the axle completely out... is there a way to replace the diff with the Axle in place? I think I have seen a link somewhere but am not able to find it :( Cheers, Jonathan
  4. I don't know, grown men comparing their nuts on a public forum 😳 *biggrin* Sorry, I could not resist. Jon

    Shift lights

Guys, I have one of these: here It connects to the shift light output of the megajolt and one if the spare outputs so you get a two staged shift light... not bad for £2.50 plus P&P. Jon ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  7. For my Megajolt I just got a cheapy off ebay... cost about £5 including postage, once I had loaded the driver and set the com port up on the laptop it works a treat. Jon ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  8. Alex, Maplin or RS do them, single pole, single throw, push to make, momentary switches. See this thread here I have an RS account if you want me to order it. Getting a bit sophisticated now are we ? :) Jon ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob. 9. I think it will be cheaper the ford route, more choice and an easy mod. Staying with the Ital, you have limited (read expensive) options ahead.. a S/H diff for the Ford is about £50 and many more ratios available.. Just my opinion. UPDATED: Here is my costings on the Axle replacement: Axle Casing (modified for Caterham fitment by Arch) - Speak to Mick at Redline - cost is approx £175 Half shafts, modified for rear disc fitment (but work with drums) - £45 each - www.randallmotorsport.co.uk (speak to Nigel, also on ebay) Diff (depends on the ratio, but about £60) - Ebay or randallmotorsport. Small Flange (3 1/4 inch) - £20 - Randall motorsport Pinion Oil seal and Diff Gasket - £10 - Ebay Brake Drums (go for the Rs2000 ones) - Ebay or Turbosport or scrappies - About £10, but will need re-conditioning Jon ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... 10. Try a cheap plastic syringe or even a turkey baster for the breather hole route.. Jon ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  11. Well, after all the photos and also putting the new ford half shaft hubs in the current wheels, it is certain I have a Ford axle :) Thanks to all for the help :) 😬 😶‍🌫️ *thumbup* Jonathan
  12. Johan, Look at Phil's site as linked above, lots of good info there for you... Thanks for the ital pictures, I am certain that I have the Ford axle as I can see the diff is the same and there is modding to the tunnel.. this saves me a huge task... Now just need to whip out the diff and swap them over, leaving the axle in situ. All, thanks for your help on this topic.. I noticed that my A-Frame is also modded, I will post some photos as it looks like a good Mod as it totally removes the axle bush problem. Jonathan ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  13. Thanks Alex, Give me a buzz in the morning. I doubt if I could get around as my weekends tend to be packed (single Father of 2 young ladies....). What are you doing to yours? Mine is partially disassembled for obvious reasons. Jonathan ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  14. Hi Alex, That would be cool, if you fancy a drive over tomorrow you can see the Megajolt etc... Else the photos would be great... If I do have the Ford Axle, then I have spares that could help if you want to go the same route.. Drop me a PM with your contact details. I sent you mine on the Jock 7's site. Manx - Mine looks to be very similar (slightly different bracketing), I tried my new half shafts in the spare wheel and the PCD was spot on, so I am guessing I have Ford... if this is the case then I will be a very happy man. Thanks for the pictures. Jonathan ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob. Edited by - jonboylaw on 8 Mar 2008 23:11:51
  15. Hi all, Does anyone have a photo of an Ital Axle? I have an LA car and was just getting ready to convert it to Ford, but it looks like I may have a car that is already converted (previous owner did not mention it though..). I would like to compare the axle I have with an Ital one... so can anyone send me a picture or link? Cheers, Jonathan ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  16. Mr Ryan, The best line was: "ACCORDING TO ARE PAPER WORK...." 6 owners though... all careful vicars I am sure. Jon ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  17. I am converting to Ford axles so will have 4 off (2x 6x13, 2 off 8x13) going in about a months time, sorry if this is too far out for you.. Jon

  19. A little OT. Myles, I have just recently moved up to Fife (Burntisland) and have my Supersprint with me, currently off the road for a ford axle swap and bush replacements all around. Just wondering if there is a local club that I can get involved with, chat to etc.. Jonathan ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  20. Sure thing, I work from home some days so can arrange to meet you. I will mail you my phone number and address. Cheers, Jon ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  21. Scooter, You should have mail. I can pick it up as I am just over the Bridge in Sunny Burntisland. Jon ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  22. Obvious first check.... is the return spring correctly positioned or the TPS binding on the spindle to slow the return? Jonathan ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  23. I will have it... and any other bits for a Ford LA instal if you have any... Jonathan ----------------------------------- Ital or Ford... the choice is yours.... Hmmm, I'll have the ford please Bob.
  24. I might as well take the opportunity to replace all the bushes while I have the Springs and dampers off. The list goes on...... Phil, was the wishbone replacement easy? will it work on an LA car? or only a DD? Jonathan ----------------------------------- 1db too loud ? Got the Raceco, fixed the gasket *thumbup*
