  1. Might need one on the tin-top, but surely you always turn round to look at your 7 when walking away, or is that just me? 😬
  2. Tom If Guy has one with a wire on that would be easier!
  3. Tom, I've got one here - but I cut the wire off it when I fitted the switch. You're welcome to it if you want to have a go at fitting a new wire (either prise it apart or drill a hole in the back to solder on a new wire)? Jonathan
  4. If you use a tub of LM grease, just unscrew the grease gun tank, pull the plunger in the tank back and and push the tank down over the hole in diaphram in the tub. Job's done! Jonathan
  5. Just to back up what Norman said - when I widetracked my car, Mark Hicks suggested no rear ARB, and stiffening the front one. It did seem to help. I've got std. road springs all round. Jonathan
  6. 1. TonyC's installtion notes: here might help if you haven't found them already. 2. Yes that should be possible - in the end I used my existing wiring for the oil temperature sensor on the apollo, and will run some new wires for the pressure switch. 3. Some quick pics of my installation: here Hope that helps, Jonathan
  7. Hi Dave, I'll pop it in the post tuesday, Jonathan
  8. Dave, When I fitted my remote oil pressure gauge recently, I wasn't sure which size I needed, so I just bought both from Think. In the end, I needed the M12 for my 1998 1.8K, but the other one that Matthew Potter sent was the 1/8NPTF to 1/8BSP. You're welcome to have that one if you want. Jonathan
  9. I run mine on 19psi warm, I would have thought much over 20 would be too high for a 7. Jonathan
  10. I've just fitted the mechanical (oil pressure only) gauge and switch, and took a few photos in case its of use: here I'm now getting a nice healthy 45+psi idle, 65+ under load when hot with the apollo tank. Jonathan
  11. I just fitted one of the mechanical oil pressure senders - an easy job and now I've got plenty of oil pressure indicated I thought I'd take some photos to go with Tony C's instructions; here's a quick webpage Jonathan
  12. N reg green with yellow stripe - I gave you a flash and wave from the tin-top. I wimped out of driving the 7 up from Cambridge! Jonathan
  13. I'd echo Martin's comments - if you are fitting a Caged FIA bar, you can carry on using the old boot cover, its slightly tight but mine fits OK - worth a try before buying a new one. Jonathan
  14. Dave, will be interested to know how you get on. Jonathan
  15. Thanks Richard, I'll give them a call. Jonathan
  16. I'm a "maybe" as well. Do you know if the can is repackable? In ChocolateTelevision's photos I noticed what looks like the old standard exhaust modified to allow it to be re-attached - I'd need something like that as mines a post SVA car. Has this proved to be a workable solution? Looks like it should be a relatively simple changeover assuming the pipes can still be separated a year later... David M - can I have a look at yours next week at the meet, if you'll be there? Thanks, Jonathan
  17. Tom, I've got a 22mm (if I remember correctly) hole cutter which I bought to fit my big red starter button. I live in Linton & work in Cambourne if you want to borrow it... Jonathan
  18. That'll be me then The broom handle fitted in the car no problem! I usually try to only wear that hat during the hours of darkness 😬... Anyway, it was great to get the car out again! Jonathan (wasn't me in Saffron Walden this time) '98S 1.8K SuperSport 6 across, 5 down
  19. You could try contacting someone like Hyperion. They sold me an almost new ali road rad a couple of years ago for much less than CC. It was one from a new race car that they had upgraded to a triple bypass rad. Jonathan
  20. I think you're right that there's probably not the clearance for a bolt. I believe those support brackets are what is fitted to the latest version of the de-dion. If the mounting point really does need to be below the tube, then perhaps a U bracket that goes round the de-dion and holds each end of the mounting tube would be better? Jonathan
  21. When I took my de-dion ('98 vintage) off for re-furbishment I took it to Bruce at Arch and got him to add the later support brackets - photo here - hopefully that'll help to stop them tearing off... Jonathan
  22. I'd second Steve's comments about being careful with the £19 Draper item from Halfords. I used one over a winter and dried a battery. Earlier this year I used it again and found that it didn't take long to evapourate a noticable amount of liquid. Just use it occasionally now for a top-up until I get a proper conditioner. Jonathan

Have you tried the trick of putting several layers of clingfilm between lid+tin? I found about 3 layers worked. Jonathan
  24. Thanks - I'll replace the cable whilst I'm at it then. Jonathan
