  1. 5 speed box on SLR 🤔 cable can break or just unscrew itself at the back of the clocks on the dash easy fix suggest small torch in mouth or headlight while working upside down in the footwell 😬 jerry
  2. thanks, should have tried the obvious; strangely my copy seems to have been binned when g/f "tidied" the study 😬 jerry
  3. any thoughts on smaller battery (part no:/supplier) for smaller battery for 2000 slr? thanks jerry
  4. bilsteins off my '99 slr (wide track front, bottom mount de-dion rear) are: front 38cm, rear 47cm between mount centres hope thats of use, where are you? jerry
  5. thanks for all your help- am going to 3.92 as haven't been near the limiter in 6th all year- did the brands gp day as well as snett. hopefully will help acceleration/lap times jerry
  6. roger perhaps we should swap crown wheels but seriously, what sort of speed/rpm do you run at? jerry
  7. andy have been to several tracks with noise testing- meters vary my standard SLR has recorded between 99 & 105dB don't think you'll run for long @ bedford ☹️ jerry
  8. rob actually a combination of both ideally i'd like a drivers side half door that bolts on the outside of my (caged) SLR cage as my dodgy wrist makes it very difficult to cope with belts with the half-door inside something euroracer-ish but removable would be good as it's still road legal and used as such when not on track jerry
  9. peter, car is SLR in pretty standard spec, current use is JCC centurian challenge + occasional sprints. at snett i was only just into 6th @ the 300 board wheras everyone else had been on the limiter for some time thanks jerry
  10. only just found this thread, was actually interested in some half doors/integral passenger cover to go with SLR cage as i'm reliably informed the aerodynamics are worth real time when racing- and i really need to go faster 😬 however, it's been so entertaining i almost forgot what i was looking for ❗ jerry
  11. sorry, just looked at ferrino's puma link wrt tyre pressures- can only tell you what we've done for last couple of trips, but obviously exploding rears is not helpful ❗ jerry
  12. thanks, sorry i know it has LSD, just need to check this is the ratio & if so is it best choice for use- only ever had the shift lights on in 6th draughting a GT3 up kemmel jerry
  13. you may well want to raise rear ride height considerably before you go or the underside may catch, normal cars have more clearance if you have spare wheels then fit an old set of fat, sticky rears & drop the pressures a lot, otherwise you'll struggle for grip on the rollers if you have 190+ (last used ACB10s@ 12psi ) having this right before you go saves time which really is money on the RR make sure the fan goes low enough to hit your radiator, or take heavy cardboard and a mate to hold it to get max air-flow to rad we all know how much K-series love rpm & heat ☹️ ☹️ don't forget your ear defenders if you're sitting in the car for ballast the side skins get very hot so long trousers hope this is helpful jerry
  14. just checking the original invoice for my car (2nd owner) I/S/L-mph/3.62 is this the code for diff. fitted please? if so, would something else be more appropriate for sprint/UK circuit use 🤔 many thanks jerry
  15. there are 3 spot welds which fail gradually i fixed mine with 3 pop-rivets with the head light in-situ best if you can use stainless steel as they don't stretch and allow wobble to recur kept my car going for le sept and subsequent races/sprint with no problems from scrutineers, just not perfect aesthetically however, i think spot welding would do for the chrome and i don't think chemical metal was up to it jerry
  16. throttle position sensor would 2nd mark's check on short to crank position sensor as the screening on the cable picks up current then can arc to the crank from the exposed end of the screening when this moves on corners- it's very hard to spot jerry
  17. tom similarly late to thread and can relate similar tales of woe affecting both david's and my cars performance holds up- i ran 13.07 @ brighton in the "ignorance/denial" stage however- message is that i needed a new head wheras david's was salvagable- so early attention will save money sorry ☹️ jerry
  18. marty my c/f cone from CC is as you describe with only 2 top dzus fasteners. only difference is that mine weren't fitted when it came, had to drill it myself have you compared holes with prev. cone or is this not an upgrade? although it rattles a bit on it's own, the bonnet snugs down nicely, certainly no gap to sides of ally jerry
  19. ian the radio manual for my 98 a6 says "TP function off by holding TP button for more than 2 secs or by switching to AM. TP can only be switched off when key is in ignition" hope that helps jerry
  20. david 32r's are not list 1a (IIRC) so you will generally be in a class with some very fast cars even on list 1a in class 7 (upto 1700) there will be cars with 200 bhp before i get corrected i'm not talking about club sprints have fun jerry
  21. gareth i've got a spa central mirror attached to the scuttle with 3 riv-nuts not undetectable, but they are pretty flush and inside the screen when changed to leave it in situ when changing back you need to cut the centre strut with an angle to move it back and down- i held mine with chemical metal which has survived slipstreaming a 911 on kemmel straight jerry
  22. gavin with slr you have FIA bar which is higher/thicker than standard bar and has option of petty strut from bar to n/s side chassis your helmet may come up to this level: options lower seat/more rake lowered floor pan tall hoop extension full cage road sport or slr jerry
  23. peter: now i'm intrigued ,don't know a neurosurgeon with a 7. suspect the proper padding does slow the head/bar impact in a more brain friendly way but would suggest that we would be better off adjusting seat/belts/cage clearance to avoid that interface i'll skip the standard neurosurgical jokes as there are even more about orthopaedic surgeons 😬 jerry
  24. paul thanks very much: now all we need is a car to sit in. both still away despite early plans! ? see you before 6.5. circuit meeting? regards jerry
  25. another outstanding job prior to 1st race instructions are lengthy, but anyone got any tips/advice having completed the job? not cheap and won't have time for a 2nd go as the order took ages thanks for your help jerry
