  1. i had 2 sets for sprints/racing and replaced 1 centre in 6 seasons Mike was really helpful with regard to getting wheels refurbed, but it is a cost to factor in to the running of your car
  2. that's cookies for you, my advert: evans cycles
  3. agreed. the riv-nut with allen screw fitting from outside the scuttle does make it a less than 5 min job. despite this upgrade, my windscreen hasn't been back on the car for 10 years
  4. QED did my SLR rebuild on time and on budget 8 years ago. Were very helpful in getting engine back for a tight deadline (friday night mapping for Le Sept saturday ) Has performed flawlessly for road/sprint/race use since. jerry
  5. very happy with my Raceco with big silencer: no noise issues on track with my SLR (<98dB, prev >105dB) you may struggle for space with a 4-2-1 and cat jerry
  6. a short bolt does the job of keeping the oil in very well lasts longer than the caterham item jerry
  7. which length? short as per r500 or long as per slr? i've got a spare new short version if thats what you need jerry
  8. paul i have 1 low back race seat if thats any help jerry
  9. yes, tried one at autosport show couple of years ago when they first arrived and indeed were larger size for size than my arai. Didn't buy one but Bill did, likewise had to buy a smaller size than usual. personally wouldn't buy a helmet without trying it on and I've had dozens over the years (mostly bike helmets).
  10. had my QED remote stat 8 years, no problems at all jerry
  11. another vote for willans had to replace my willans harnesses this year as going out of date. had very specific requirements so went to the factory for a fitting: knocked up 2 different lap belts to try within minutes and had the finished custom belts to me in under a week very helpful and knowledgable jerry

    Fuel Tank

Ian i've got a big tank fitted for JCC (prior to SEMSEC). Arch make them by putting two tanks together basically: fills most of the boot, but worth asking if they have one in stock as bottom fittings/connections are the same. i've run 90 mins at Snett without refuelling. jerry
  13. alan hasn't arrived via BM try jerrypike1@btinternet.com jerry
  14. alan yes, it's actually for drivers side, but I'm sure you can "adapt"it jerry
  15. .....but are smaller and lighter so check the dimensions Caroline, otherwise some adaptation of the battery bay required jerry
  16. paul interesting that only speed events specified. i went to HANS last winter in anticipation for future racing. roger its not just the cost of helmet, HANS, belts, but also getting the bobbins fitted. the service from Arch was excellent and a pleasure to watch, but it was a day off work to trailer the car up as you have to attend with car, seat in, cage off. so don't try to slot it in just before season start jerry
  17. another vote for Willans- very helpful and local jerry
  18. yes, you can use Caterham half-doors with an SLR cage (mines Caged) but you may need to adapt fittings. jerry
  19. castrada I fitted my Hans over last winter, it's a bit more involved than you'd like. You have to book yourself in at Arch (who I believe are the only accredited Hans fitters for 7's), attend with your car, cage off and seat in. You'll then be measured up and the new belt anchors brazed in while you wait. This is to ensure correct angles for belts over the Hans. The service from Arch was 1st class and a pleasure to watch a craftsman at work , but it was still a day off work for me. Seat wise, I've got a Caterham low back race seat, I couldn't get on with a Tillett with helmet and Hans on, despite front spacers to get tilted back more. Your neck still gets flexed forward and I'm not the only person to pull their Tillets out as a result Hope thats helpful jerry
  20. I finally got to use my 888's at a very wet Lydden for our last race meet of the season. Was very pleasantly surprised at how good they were (got to race with people on full wets who are over a second quicker in the dry) given it was a gamble-have CR22's for wet use usually, but the 888's were 1.5 sec faster WRT storage: these tyres were stored in my unheated garage (off-rims) over the whole of last winter. So, first impression is really good jerry
  21. stu i've been running these for 2 seasons changed from MB's to avoid the refurb issue i'm not good enough to notice the unsprung wt penalty, but they still look good jerry
  22. personal experience suggests very likely to extend, particularly if you put the roof up jerry
  23. roger you'll get more for the kids if you break them for spares on the south american transplant market 😬 apologies for medical humour to the sensitive jerry
  24. milt sorry hadn't seen them on the caterham web-site before (hadn't looked) if you like the look of MB's but don't want the hassle/expense of crack testing then i've been happy with the rials i changed to they're better quality than the KN SLR split rims IMO hope that's more helpful jerry
  25. milt as the link says PRE-order I don't expect anyones tried them except Caterham themselves. hence lack of response i certainly haven't seen anyone on these jerry
