  1. Caterham advised me to put high 20's in hot tyres. My SV is shod with Avon ZZ1's on 16inch wheels ! Seems high to me but I know nothing. See you there. Jan C7 RSV.....purple and shiny!
  2. Andy .....you have mail! Jan
  3. Andy Time for some sleep I reckon! On serious note went to GPR this afternoon. I enjoyed it but my 12 year old daughter who accompanied me submitted a (home) transfer request to her mother when she got home. Can't think why! The 'good' news is that my eldest will kill me if I don't take her on the next larks' outing. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Jan ....
  4. As I said earlier my wipers do not do intermittent....June 2001 Roadsport SV. Jan
  5. Martin I read the bit in the handbook re intermittent wipers and 'it ain't true'....if it is then I need to get very seriously worried about my technical competence! Cheers Jan

    Sevening.....art or science? Discuss! Jan
  7. Martin When I ordered my car I was strongly advised to fit one. Obviously didn't proffer the same advice to you which is a pity. Good news...I am having the FIA bar fitted 25th Sept. Jan

    Shell Optimax

The 'Useful Information' section in my owners handbook states Unleaded 95 Ron for all engine specifications listed except for the R500 (98). Is this not correct? Jan
  9. cool.gif Scream...if it hurtscool.gif .....ouch Seriously these are timely and useful warnings especially to those of us new to 7's. cheers Jan
  10. Rupe Sadly having watched the BBC news tonight you may have to build a few planes to get over here. Let's hope the situation in Sri Lanka calms down although difficult to see how in the near future. Jan

    carcover

Chris The cover is excellent and BIG if had had it for Le Mans sleeping in the car under the cover might have been more comfy than the tent as it's so r o o m y. Mind you I thought it a bit odd a few weeks ago when someone enquired as to whether you could fit 2 kids in behind the seats...methinks there are a few misconceptions flying around. Jan PS Andy tongue.gif tongue.gif Just for you. tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

    carcover

Paul T This is odd I insured my new 7 with TLC (Sabre not Independent) a month ago and despite living in S London SW2 and not having a garage they were OK with this. The premium is probably loaded somewhat but still affordable. I park it in the front garden with a cover systems cover ( seems excellent esp. @ £89 ) and touch wood no problems so far. Jan

    SV body

Rob I agree with Andy's comments so do try both. Age is also a determinant in my opinion....that's why I went for the more 'comfortable' option! Cheers Jan

    SV body

Rob This is for a change something I am qualified to speak on. I am 6/4 with size 12 feet and first tried to drive a 7 in 1977, failed to do so, tried again in 1987 and 1997 same result. I may have succeeded after a fashion if I had radically altered the seat and pedal arrangements but after sitting in the SV ( not just wide body by the way )at last year's motor show I decided to buy one on the spot. I picked it up from the factory 2 weeks ago and have already done 1100 miles including the club bash to Le Mans. It's brilliant and many of the larger proportioned club members on the trip who sat in it were impressed with what was on offer. I have a 1.8 VVC with 6 speed box, although I have never driven another 7 so cannot compare mine goes as you might expect it to and it's cornering seems fine to me ie behaves as a 7 shouldwink.gif If you want to have a look at mine and live within shooting distance of SW London let me know. Cheers Jan PS Extra £1250 includes widetrack suspension and watts linkage ( not usually standard ) so you are only looking at an extra £500 in reality, this was noted in a thread or article earlier this year. 16. Chris I shall have to take a leaf out of your book and strive (good word that )to be less restrained in the manner I reply to certain postings ( ie Blatman's )teeth.gif Jan Sorry not technical....won't happen again! Edited by - Jan T on 29 May 2001 22:17:12
  17. Charles Front garden sucessfully remodelled, thank you! I gather you met my chum Chris P @ Goodwood last week do you think we could convert him to the joys of 7ing or am I wasting my time? Blatman In my earlier posting I did also enquire as to what engine oil Caterham put in at the 1st service and I hope this was the query Charles was resopnding to! Cheers Jan
  18. Arnie Apparently I shall be one of 3 SVs at Le Mans so that's an extra 12 crates!! Cheers, Jan
  19. chris a I will be at Le Mans in my SV ( with the L7 club ). Cockpit will be open for inspection so look forward to meeting you. 6' 4'' fits very nicelysmile.gif Jan
  20. Just out of curiosity does anyone know what Caterham will put in the 6 speed gearbox of my new SV? Also as it will be having a 500 mile service pre Le Mans do I need to specify a specific engine oil or are Caterham sensible in their choice ( it's a 1.8 VVC)question.gif Cheers Jan

    Wheels

So if I telephone Caterham and say I don't want Avons on the SV (16inch wheels) they start building for me next month, what will they say and what should I fit? Any advice? Jan

  23. Jan T

    Which wheels?

Thanks for the advice, I shall go for the 14inch as they come as standard and see how I fare.
  24. Jan T

    Which wheels?

I have just placed an order for a Caterham SV with a 1.8 VVC and am confused as to what size wheels I should get. Use will be some touring, town driving ( ie humps are common) and maybe track days. 13, 14 or 16 inch wheels? Advice/comments much appreciated...and needed! Thanks. Jan T.
