    Paint job

Do TSK 'fit' Armourfend as well as paint? Jan
  2. So the purpose of this valve is simply to stop air going from the cam cover to the Apollo 🤔 Jan

    1.8VVC on track

Thanks. Now I understand. I have always had an oil temp sensor because I have always had an Apollo I wasn't aware they were not standard. Jan

    1.8VVC on track

Peter Sorry to be thick but can you clarify what you mean by this? ''Some might consider it a worry gauge, but without an Apollo you don't get to see oil temperature'' I'm off to get me an oil cooler and one way valve as my oil temp on track (with Apollo fitted and on 13'' wheels) is too high for my comfort . 1.8VVC on track

So that's me giving up the day job so as to fit in this servicing schedule This certainly seems like a 'belt and braces' regime and an interesting comment on the Apollo i.e. they don't fit them in France. The oil change frequency seems a bit extreme.....any views out there on this? Jan

Bob Thanks for this info. I will be ordering it this weekend. Jan

    1.8VVC on track

I assume there are different models of the Laminova cooler so which one should I go for for my car (150bhp VVC in an SV) 🤔 Cheers Jan

    1.8VVC on track

I have done about 8 trackdays in my 150 bhp VVC (SV) with no problems (except for the dodgy driver 😬) but lately I have been worrying about the oil temp which especially on warm days gets quite high. As I plan to do about 8 days this year would it be wise to fit an oil cooler? I already have an Apollo. Cheers Jan
  9. Does anyone know where Motorsports' new venue is? Jan PS ...and is Hullavington worth a visit?

    FIA Rollbar

Rob I didn't know that but even with the tall FIA on my SV and with the ordinary seat base in I do not have the necessary clearance with a crash helmet on. Last year I made a foam base which is fine for track outings but no good for long journeys. matt keep me posted and look forward to hearing from you. We will need some dry weather unless you have acces to a garage. jan

    FIA Rollbar

Matt If you could sort out a blank seat base for me that would be great but remember I am an SV (with standard leather seats) presumably the bases are bigger like our backsides 😬 I'm no expert with the foam but gladly like to try and make a couple of bases for you and me. Cheers Jan

    FIA Rollbar

Matt might be an idea to get hold of the blank seat base (as Svendriver suggests)as almost certainly will help produce a neater creation. if you go this route I'll have one too 😳 drop me an email and we can arrange a get together at my place some weekend very soon and you can have some of my foam mix. Cheers jan

    FIA Rollbar

Search the archive (select search above) for foam seats info. Basically what I did with some help was fill a heavy duty plastic bag with a modest amount of gunk, seal it with tape, sit on it whilst it sets to your shape and that's it. Make sure you cover the cockpit with protective plastic as this stuff does not come off if it attaches itself to inappropriate surfaces. It don't look pretty but if only for trackdays who cares You can buy mail order from these guys but I repeat Imay well have sufficient for your needs. FIA Rollbar

Matt I sympathise. I'm 6/4 with short (34'' ! )legs and in my SV I can't get clearance with a standard FIA bar so I made a foam base for trackdays which is very very thin under my 🙆🏻 but gives good under thigh support. I have spare foam mix if you want some ( I'm based in Streatham Hill ). I'm investigating a tillet seat as I understand they do a bigger mode....can't fit in the ordinary one even though I'm not that heavy Let me know if I can help. Jan

This is exciting....discount for bulk order perhaps 🤔 Jan
  16. Technical question....what/who are pykies? Do we have them in Brixton? Jan
  17. 'My visits to the garage do not involve me getting out of the car.' About time they did then Jan PS just jealous!
  18. Chris we are out here ...take a look at this for starters Jan http://www.mavmobile.freeserve.co.uk/ PS If I were you I would post this on chit chat as well as tech talk. Edited by - Jan T on 30 Dec 2002 18:00:31

    SV car cover

The standard indoor one as sold by Careham fits on my SV just fine. Jan
  21. I had the 2nd SV out of the factory in June 2001 and ISTR that the standard wheel was 14'' not 16'' and I too paid extra for the latter. The 16's are fine for the road and track but I now use 13'' AO32r's (185/60) on trackdays and they are a considerable improvement but not too great on the road as you can bottom out the exhaust easily on anything other than the smoothest of roads. I would like to investigate the new light 15'' wheels in due course as they might be great for road and track. Next year's task I reckon. Jan
  22. Whether you can acheve the clearance depends on 'where your height is' i.e. long back or long legs IYSWIM Jan
  23. Martin I take it this is your next upgrade then? cheers Jan
  24. SJG I am a tad under 6/4 (with a long back and legs 'only' 34ins ) so I have had problems getting the required clearance with the FIA bar in my SV. I made myself a foam seat and this just about does it but the foam under my rear end is very thin and for a long journey is fairly uncomfortable but fine for trackdays etc.. If you go the loop and roof alteration route I would be very interested in seeing the result. You will also have fun getting the pedal setting/seat position just right (although this depends on your leg/back length configuration). On my first outing I reached for reverse but found I couldn't reach it without undoing my harness so the pedals are now on the furthest setting away and my seat is not fully back. Downside is you now have to be over 6 foot to drive it much to my wife's disappointment. Best of luck. Jan PS I see you are based in the London area............ I have some spare foam kit stuff Edited by - Jan T on 26 Oct 2002 10:32:09
  25. BB No problem you haven't spoiled my party as I am minded to keep it. I have investigated the PC edit situation and yes it is possible. But boy is it complicated for a laymant? Answer: yes. I think the tech community needs some basic training in english and the art of explaining things clearly ☹️ Cheers jan
