  1. The bike radar detector sounds good, I will look into them. I had a long discussion with the chappy in Halfords today about whether or not they would become illegal. He did put a good case in their favour, but then he was trying to sell me one. Personally I feel they probably will, but until then they are a cool gadget. He mentioned problems with false alarms from every automatic opening door you pass by.... the heated screen could be a problem as I have one in the other motor too.
  2. If so, where did take the power supply from? I'm guessing from the back of the fuse box some where. Do they work? I'm getting it for the tin top really but would like to be able to transfer it easily to the seven.
  3. I know there has been some talk of these before, but does anyone have any experience of these tyres on a caterham? I am mostly using it on road(vvc engine), but with a few track days in mind. I feel that I would go through yoko 032/021's in no time at all.
  4. I guess its the head and not the cable. I have removed the unit and it seems that the needle is not returning to zero either. Does anyone know if these can be reconditioned or is it better to fork out the 70 odd quid for a new one from caterham? One other thing. when i removed the light bulb from the back i fused the instrument lighting circuit. Funny thing is it didn't blow the instrument/heater fuse as labelled, but the rear offside tail light fuse. Weird, it must be wired up differently
  5. oh, one other thing. do you have to put a rubber washer under the flat head of the bolt as it touches the painted surface, or can it go straight onto the wing? At the other end, under the wing stay, i was going to use one of those shake proof washers ( the frilly ones)- anyone else use these? or better st stick with a regular one?
  6. I am bolting my wings on tomorrow. they have previously been glued, so there is no mark to say where to drill the holes. obviously they have to go through the wing stay tube, but how far in? thought 65mm in from the edge of the wing looks about right, just onto the flat part of the wing. looking at some photos, some caterhams seem to have them closer together.. hmm maybe i'm obsessing over this one
  7. steve, i am in the process of bolting on my wings too. planning to do it tomorrow. got the bolts from james whiting and nylocs etc. seem to find plenty in B&Q. that aside, do u know how far in the bolt holes are from the edge of the wings? mine were previously glued and there is no reference. i was going for 65mm from the edge any ideas?
  8. thanks. will try the godalming chap. Caterham are having trouble finding the paint code. Something to do with the fact that i dont have the original invoice number. u would have thought they could do it on the chassis no. sounds like they don't have much of a computer database over there.
  9. does anyone know what i should roughly be paying for this? And are there any good caterham friendly paint shops in surrey/ NE hants?
  10. Thanks Andy, It seems ok in the lower gears, but it was just taking ages to squeeze up to the higher speeds. Probably find that i've put on a few pounds and need a haircut!
  11. I've just been out for a bit of a blat, good weather etc. I havn't driven the car for a couple of weeks, so i eased her in gently, let her warm up fully but I noticed that i could only just get to a 3 figure speed. I've got a 6 speed box, 15 inch wheels and at 6000ish rpm I was nudging a hundred but there was no more to give. I have not had the car long, but surely the vvc should squeeze a bit more than that on the straight. So I guess I have problems.. any thoughts?
  12. Thanks for all the info, i will give them a call.
  13. can anyone recommend a good place to buy yoko 021r's in or around surrey/north hants? What is the average cost?
  14. Having recently acquired my vvc. I have noticed that it has michellins on the front and yoko's on the back!!! It seems to drive ok, but this mix is a little worrying. for mainly road and occasional track use is the 021 a good choice. thought the 032's would be too soft. I was also considering Bridgestone S-02's anyone got these on a seven. Is there a weight issue with them? I know this is a common topic on here but any direct advice would be appreciated. jk
  15. well, what can i say. there are obviously many seveners out there who have plenty of inches to spare... I think i will go play with my pedals. Is there any thing that can go badly wrong, or any serious no no's when messing about in the pedal box??
