  1. 4 little used wheels/tyres (less than 500 miles). Ford fitment. Black with sliver edges. BM for photos. Pickup from Claygate, Surrey. £375. [Tyres suitable for class 1 or 2 sprinting]
  2. "Badger"... Mike - did they let you out of your mobile retirement home long enough for you to get the Southampton "Budget Rioja Warehouse", or do they have a 2-1 on rum fudge at the garden centre again? That engine had clearly been adjusted before I picked it up, or by the "installation team" (I use that term loosely) you sent over. Roger - good luck. Mike's engine was very solid, but just check the cam timing maybe. Of course, I never took it above 6000...
  3. Hi Roger, Not sure I'd want to spend 5K on an aging class 2/3 engine. When my 1.6K left one of its pistons and a chunk of the block somewhere near Goodwood, decision to move to an unported 1.8 seemed pretty simple to me (head was damaged also unfortunately). I added forged pistons too for peace of mind. A refurbed 1.8 perhaps with stronger internals would be a lot cheaper/simple, and keep the ported 1.6 head on your shelf for another day. Would also be quite valuable I think as well. Just don't buy an engine from ebay/pistonheads without proof the head isn't soft, and waste months in the garage creating a very efficient mushroom soup generator as it fails on first start, before calling in the experts to bail you out . AB
  4. I'm experimenting with some old wing stays to see whats possible in terms of lowering. Maybe not as much as I thought - as the wing itself seems too big. Is this a 13" wing? (picture shows wing resting on 185x60xR13 tyre).
  5. Thanks for advice. I'll avoid lithium for this. I used a cheapy golf buggy type battery in the 7 for a while, but it never recovered from one too many "crank for pressure" cycles when I was having to swap engines around. No slope on my drive - just a lot of gravel otherwise I could push it into the garage, I think I'll go with 30/40 ah car battery.
  6. What sort of battery is best for winching the 7 onto a trailer? Small cheap car battery? Or would a motorbike battery do it? (I want a separate battery for various reasons) I assume latest small lithium batterys (as in latest generation of cheap boosters) aren't right for this application, as would drain too quick. thanks
  7. For the record - those helpful people at PGM still had a record of the weight from 2012: 604 Kg with me. Taking into account me, plus weight difference between SLR cage and the FIA bar + strut fitted in 2012, heavier exhaust, and some weight savings since then... I make it about 525!
  8. You are right Nick, but for various reasons (not least money) I don't want to buy a new tow car right now. I think I just need to take time off and get the 7 weighed as a proper reference and then weigh parts I replace.
  9. I'm looking for approx weight of car only for this. Relates to towing weight. Lighter wheels are a possible option, but £££. Can't use ACB10s.
  10. Boot floor - I thought that was "safety" so have kept as standard.
  11. Got Nitrons. Upper steering column -is that worhwhile/safe?! -might look into that. Got ali rear light fittings. Target is 525.
  12. Has anyone had a 7 weighed with similar spec to mine, or got an educated guess? 1.8 K S3 2001 Roadsport 13x6 minilite wheels and yoko 539s no screen, heater, wiper motors wet sump and apollo tank GRP tillets x 2 Full SLR cage carbon wings all round powerspeed 421 exhaust Powervamp 25 battery no spare wheel 1/4 tank of fuel (excluding fat driver) Any good VFM weight saving options? Thanks!
  13. YHM - looks like it does in fact fit swan necks with the adaptor supplied (and miraculously found).
  14. Mine still available. PM me if interested. Thanks Alan
  15. Anyone upgraded to quick release with a dusty spare? AB
  16. Yes I got the K ones, and the LHS has the cutout. I think its only needed if you have a rear exit exhaust though.
  17. They weighed 850g. I can live with the extra 150g. I'm no expert on pre-preg vs. wet lay - but as they are advertised as pre-preg. Its shiny rather than matt - does that mean its wet lay? A few marks, and a long delivery time due to an oven issue, but I'm very happy with them and might order front wings from them to replace my tired ones. AB
  18. Mine arrived - suppliers supplier had an oven issue, but kitcardirect offered me refund if I didn't want to wait. I'm happy with the quality - some small marks but look very good and no fitting issues for £400 a pair.
  19. Delivery should be within next 3 weeks. Will report back/take photos when I receive them.
