  1. So much for providing "same day delivery" for once! Will try and get it corrected tmrw if I can find the practice times online.
  2. Old iphone 5, mic is standard earphones in boot. Not the best solution but cost me almost nothing. Can set it recording in the paddock and trim on phone after a run. Sound is bad as I forget to wrap the mic in a rag.(set it to 720, its defaulted to 360) AB
  3. "For class 5 the pre-stated target time in 2022 will be calculated from the class 6 record time plus 2%" Class 6 record is 53.44. (I agree in this case, the algorithm has given a very optimistic target!)
  4. Thanks Shaun. I think I'm now sorted after some adjusting
  5. As per my thread on techtalk /forum/removable-chassis-diagonal-hitting-water-rail I need an "older style" water rail that sits closer to the head. Can swap for my new style one (no issues with it other than compatibility with new removable chassis rail), or buy. thanks AB
  6. Hi Andrew - thanks for the offer and your second point would explain a lot, including why Simon's fits and mine doesnt. If the bar was slightly to the right it would be fine (see pic). I'll try a wanted ad, but hens teeth spring to mind so may take up your generous offer.
  7. Thanks - looks like same water rail. Is that a removable diagonal? Seen a photo of another water rail that looks straighter and closer to the block
  8. Yes, read that link. I have about -10mm gap! Am now wondering if there are different water rails. Not good.
  9. My EU3 K series S3 has a new long front. I specified a removable nearside chassis diagonal. Engine now back in, but the diagonal fouls the water rail. The removable tube has an indented section, but its not where the water rail sits. If I jack up the engine I can fit the tube in, but the water rail will touch the tube when the engine is lowered. Its more than "a few washers under the engine mount" to fix. Waiting to hear back from Arch. So, can anyone with a K S3 and the removable diagonal confirm if the tube has an indented section to avoid hitting the water rail? Or is there a different water rail? AB
  10. I'm sure nobody will ever mention it again
  11. Broken again. Spins, timeout on robot check, error. Technology, eh?
  12. Thanks Dave and Maggie for volunteering yet again. I will bring biscuits. Ian "Wrightpayne" and son will also join us, so we should get time for sunbathing, photography, ice creams, tyre kicking and regret. AB
  13. Any volunteers available to help take some shifts in the hut entering scores? Please message me, Graham, or reply on here. (I'll do the main share as it seems my 7 is "unavailable" at the moment... ) Thanks AB
  14. Will fix when I get back from holiday Rob. I hadn't forgotten...!
  15. Good spot. Was Saturday early morning. My tow car was parked nose to nose with the 7 for most of the rest of the day keeping the battery charged, and I cam see it in the paddock on Google. Was a good day.
  16. Its going to sleet. Have fun everyone and watch out for banana skins.
  17. Well done Andrew - an amazing achievement and I can imagine its also enormously satisfying to have taken this from investigation, to mapping, to live mapping, as a personal project. The map you created for me at NMS last year has been faultless of course, and really dug me out of a hole. I am tempted to download the latest version of your software and play, but there really is nothing to fix. (Message me personally and only me if you found another 5 bhp hidden in the MEMS! Speed season starts soon)
  18. Entered. Thanks again Graham for your perseverence in getting this on the calendar for us.

  20. (my personal opinion) The suggestion to write gentlemen's agreements on tyres into the rules has been made several times over the years. I strongly oppose it. MSUK provide tyre lists 1A, 1B,1C and we align to them, along with all the other UK speed championships I am aware of. 1. We don't control the spec. of our cars, and have the simplest rules (generaly BHP + tyre list) that we can to keep things as inclusive as possible. Priority is to encourage new entrants. Our championship slowly dies without new people joining. Like many if not most, when I started I took advice that there was a class for my car, don't change anything (other than get an FIA bar, a timing strut and some yellow tape) and just have a go. I figured I would win easily as I am a driving god. If I had been told "your tyres aren't the right ones - they are perhaps too good but we don't really know, we'll tolerate you dabbling, but you won't score points" I wouldn't have bothered. Also, if I'd had to pay for a new set of too sticky or less sticky tyres, I would not have bothered. 3. A new set of ZZS tyres is expensive. Some choose to run on others is List 1B, including 888s, in part to save some money. Lets not tell them they can't score points. 4. ZZS won't be available forever, or might move off list 1B - who knows. There is already a new 1C compound. We don't want to have to study tyres at the end of each season, argue over which is best, change the rules etc. 5. Many spend thousands on optimising their engines for max torque curves and allowed BHP limit, reducing weight, fitting after market dampers etc. Developing your car alongside your driving talent (or in my case to compensate for lack of talent) is part of the sport and part of the club. We have different engines in each class. We don't restrict other modifications. Why restrict tyres beyond the MSUK rules? 6. If someone was rich and daft enough, they'd probably have new tyres for every event, or maybe experiment with shaved new ones for dry and deep tread for wet. Do we try to ban this too? Again, part of the sport. 7. Class 3 seems very healthy as it is. 8. I survived the class 2 tyre wars, Stunners, AD08s, 539s, 15" & 13" wheels. I bought and sold used wheels - it didn't cost much. It made close to zero difference in my times. The best driver won because of their talent, not because of the marginal difference between the best tyres on the MSUK List 1A. I strongly suspect its the same for List 1B. (end of rant )
  21. For second driver running after the main batch, yes, in an ideal world. But expecting event organisers to break the habits of half a lifetime may cause issues and likely further confusion and wrong order (based on my experience). Prefer we keep it as simple as possible by just assigning our numbers appropriately. For ladies scoring, thanks for raising. The thought process behind the change was primarily to align (and simplify) the scoring for ladies, veterans and novices. Veterans certainly take class wins regularly, and so do novices giving us problems with tied scores. Ladies scoring should be the same (that was the thinking anyway). We also have issues when there are very small classes overall or at an event, making 100 points an inconsistent benchmark to score - so better to use the record time. For the championships that span classes the record time is a true measure, not the class winning time which depends on who enters. But its not perfect, as pointed out, if a lady, novice or veteran only competes 5 times and one event is wet for all runs. Overall, I think the revised system used this year is fairer for all competitors - but we can change it back (for ladies only) if that is the consensus.
  22. I'm moving to Watford. See you next year at Gurston Andy! Order for dual drives... yes, weather can change between batches, between cars even, plus re-runs are a wildcard. But overall I support the change as likely to level things as much as possible. For most events its not an issue, but clearly it is an advantage at some. I look forward to seeing more opinions on the proposal. AB
