  1. 1.8 K series, 633 (like supersport) cams, supersport rev limit, standard otherwise. Used mainly for speed events. My engine is with a specialist having needed some major remediation. A new standard head has been fitted... and the tensioner hole is for auto rather than manual. So, they need to drill a hole for the manual tensioner, but this is tricky in-situ (for "tricky" read "expensive" as they need to make a jig etc.) First, anyone used one of these new metal auto tensioners instead? https://www.dmgrs.co.uk/products/all-metal-k-series-cambelt-tensioner-lhp100900-lhp100900l-25-45-75-zr-zs-zt-freelander-tf If thats good for my engine, it looks a simple solution. If thats not good, has anyone got a jig I (they) can borrow for drilling it-situ, for a suitable donation? Thanks AB
  2. Lots of entries now Danny, I can't can't see your model, "Caterham Bitsa-Shed" in the current or previous model lineup. I will ask the comp sec if we can move you to class 7 to be on the safe side. AB (alias "comp scorer")
  3. Following on from the 160 build manual thread, and "Tobinators", got me thinking about areoscreens (not windscreens, not going back). Brooklands screens were so much better at *something* than the perspex race screens I have now. Partly wind deflection, but might be more complicated. The surface area, height and position and angle of the screens isn't that much different. Would raising the perspex screen a few mm to let air underneath, avoid a vacuum etc., make a difference? Anyone tried this? AB
  4. Free ear defenders - used a few times in car and for noisy race meetings. A donation to charity to cover the postage would be good.
  5. See guides / maintenance / Changing-CRB-without-removing-engine
  6. Anyone got a spare bellhousing in good condition? AB
  7. So is my 2011 Titan/Ford "at risk", or is this only a BMW/recent plates/200+ bhp issue? I did the checks, wheels spin together, but 20lbft preload. I've no clue what the orginal preload was. No increase in noise. What is the effect of reduced preload? Oversteer/understeer? Thanks AB
  8. "Interference fit" for Imperial S3 with/without lowered floor. Slightly wider than a Tillet. Many scratches/sccrapes. Now taking up space so free to a good home. Collection from Surrey. (might be useful for gaming?)
  9. 2011 Titan LSD in Ford casing. Couple of oil changes. Road and Track. 140bhp. Not too noisy, no issues. About 20k miles.
  10. It was deliberate to bug you Tony Its normally class order but I was a little lazy and took the order in the TSL results PDF for Saturday, and copied for Sunday. 6 runs!!! I am claiming overtime for typing all that in and I wasn't even there!!
  11. Fixed now. Fortunately Revilla (Andrew) sent two to me. Looks like one just had a faulty regulator, though it certainly seemed to be charging. Many thanks to Andrew for the spares and detailed diagnostic advice.
  12. 1.8k series. After an alternator failure, I replaced (thanks Revilla). All seems ok, with 13v off and 14.5v idling. I've checked and replaced a few aging wires, checked continuity, looked at wiring diagram. But the red dashboard light stays on! Anyone else had this?
  13. Feedback on the Whatsapp group we used at Curborough, for timings (and my requests for spares!), was very positive. I've created a Wiscombe group, and that can be used for events generally, where its more convenient than SMS/blatchat. If you would like to join the Wiscombe/Speed Event group, message me or blatmail me your phone number. Now I don't want to complicate this, but: - with Whatsapp your name & phone number are shared with other members of the group - if anyone leaves/re-joins etc, respect that, and don't abuse their contact details unless ok with them - don't share other peoples contact details around - the group is for specific speed event timing photos/assistance/banter Anything of more general interest, lets keep it on Blatchat. AB
  14. Hi Andy, Yes, Dave Clarke took some photos, and the last message in the group said he would be publishing some on Flickr soon and would provide a link AB
  15. Working on it right now!
  16. You need FIA approved gloves.
  17. Yes, seems likely no stat or non-functioning stat in this instance, and that should be investigated first before adding a second remote one, PLUS some generic over cooling issues for 620s on the road. But in the interests of confirming the fuelling problem is linked (or is that 100% proven), and having a blat in the sunshine to reduce frustration with the car, I would have been very tempted to blank off part of the rad.
  18. Would an old skool bit of cardboard/ali/carbon to partially block off the rad work at least as a temporary solution?
  19. Not calling you out as a polisher Paul (and nothing wrong with polishing). My experience was clearly different, thats all. I wonder if KCD changed their carbon supplier? No white patches or bubbling on mine, and no issues with them going milky after 18 months so far (touch wood). Price was same as buying Caterham GRP plus protectors and getting them painted, so made sense to me to give them a go.
  20. To balance - I bought carbon rear wings. Very good price, good service and I thought excellent quality. But I'm not a "polisher" or carbon weave expert!
  21. I've upgraded the recovery vehicle to proper 4WD as a precaution.
