  1. With the email today advising that the May BMMC Saturday sprint is in danger due to low entries, and assuming entries are low/below break even for our Sunday sprint... would it make sense to combine them this year? ie we cancel the club event on Sunday, and compete on the Saturday as our championship round? I guess we are in danger of losing both otherwise.
  2. Hi Roger, sad to hear. Your endless enthusiasm, sometimes through escapades and adversity, has been an inspiration. Don't be a stranger in the paddock!
  3. Any spare ones gathering dust? (for 2001 Imperial S3, Tilletts, if that makes a difference) thanks Alan
  4. I picked up a ZAMP helmet at Autosport for £279. Happy with quality and fit. SA2020, no FIA sticker. Hopefully MSUK will allow it for a few years. Headtec were also there, £200 (show price) for SA2020 but it didnt fit as well, and the ZAMP felt better quality to me.
  5. Make May Curborough weekend a double header, using both layouts. Drop August? Maybe I'm in a minority but I only do venues I enjoy, and don't do any "to make up my numbers". 2x Harewood and 2x Prescott to count would be good, but I'll hopefully do both days regardless. And a change to make them double headers in the championship really wouldn't make me less likely to go to somewhere I don't really want to visit. Also, we are having this debate a bit late.. Having seen a little of the work that the comp sec has to do and that any minor tweak will upset many, I am happy for Andy to make the decisions. And thanks Andy, Andy and Rob for keeping this running. Numbers are down in all championships, and thankfully ours remains healthier than most. For Wiscombe, would many go if it was a non championship event with us as just an invited club? I think I would, and that could be a way to keep the clubs options open for future years.
  6. I agree with Malcolms suggestion (for once). Its a good compromise to help reduce travel costs at least. Of course the winner on Saturday will often be the winner on Sunday, but, its a compromise, and hopefully a temporary one. I'm sad to see Wiscombe dropped after so many years, but understand it was very quiet for all but class 3, like some other venues.
  7. Very confused. So my current Bell Sport 5 has SA2005 sticker. No FIA sticker. A new helmet with SA2015 sticker will "probably" expire in 2026/2027. With SA2020, maybe 2031? But if a new one has an FIA2015 sticker, there is no expiry? So I can get a Bell GT5 from Merlin or DT for 473? (minus club discount)
  8. 700+ was in my post above! Scrutineers have advised to avoid SA2015 as it will probably only give 2 or 3 years, and go for SA2020. Googling confirms this. Is a more expensive helmet with the same sticker better? Maybe. Safer? Seems Bells 2015 helmets don't meet the standard for 2020, unless of course this is all a scam betwen helmet manufacturers and FIA/MSUK etc. to sell more stuff. Anyone tried or using a Headtec?
  9. Scrutineers have been reminding me all year I'll need a new helmet for 2024. I have a "Bell" shaped head, and looks like thats going to cost me around £700+ if I stick with Bell, and get the latest standard. Does anyone have experience of Headtec or other cheaper brands, in terms of shape/fit? (My priority of safety should be covered by SA2020, fit is next, then cost)
  10. SM25T said; "The small trigger wire to the solenoid is the one that normally fatigued and fails inside the insulation. Easy to replace" I would certainly check/replace this first. Replacing it postponed my need to do the relay mod by a couple of years. Whilst K click is typically hot start related, if the wiring is original from '96, I would expect some crustiness/issues. Also, check the wire tab on the solenoid itself, if at all loose. And if you have an FIA switch (not mentioned that you do), worth checking the small tabs also. I don't think you would get fuel pump priming if it was the fault, but depends how its wired. My failing FIA switch caused electrical mayhem, and its apparently a common weakness. Not personally had issues with the wiring for ignition barrel, but a bad connection there would seem to explain your symptoms, if there is no definitely no "click" at all.
  11. The "previous car" is indeed fully reliable, you did a fantastic job with my map and fixing the fuelling, probably saving an untimely engine demise. As for competitive, the limiting factor is me at the moment!
  12. Great videos, and amazing what can be done with 999cc. The sheep look a little close for comfort though!
  13. Found the PDF on Facebook and have fwded https://www.facebook.com/groups/244503129027062/permalink/3004757209668293/

    Prescott?

I got the finals email from Dom Bessell and just sent him photos of my license, which he acknowledged. I gave up trying to get the website to work (blocked on work PC, seems it doesn't work with Apple devices/browsers). BTW: We get 3x guests (mechanics) in for free as well. Add them into the mechanics section (if you can) or email the names to Dom and guests just need to say the drivers name at the gate. With my new FIA key installed to fix my electrical issues (my advanced wirnig & crimping to blame? as if!!), and the fuel cap key guaranteed to arrive at the event with the car this year, I won't be needing 3 mechanics). What could possibly go wrong at Prescott?.. Forecast looks "interesting" AB
  15. A 1.6k Superlight is ideal for Class 2 or 3, the only difference being tyres. List 1A for class 2 (typically Yoko A539s) and List 1B for class 3 (typically Avon ZZS). Please don't start upgrading the engine just yet... the biggest factor by far is driver ability/confidence/experience, followed by tyres/setup. An extra 15 bhp could be expensive, and you won't be gaining many 10ths. Accurate cam timing with verniers and a 52mm TB may be worthwhile if you really want to tinker before you start. Class 2 was very quiet in 2022, following an exodus up to a busy class 3. I suspect that might continue in 2023, so you might want to watch the entry numbers. Its always good to be in a bigger class with plenty of competition throughout, and after many years in class 2 on wooden tyres, I'm enjoying the extra grip on track and road with ZZS. Not quite enough grip, but thats another story. Flat flooring is usual, but if you are already confident with your car setup, I suggest you leave well alone for now. If the speed bug bites, there will be plenty of advice on ways to spend your cash, but I'd run with what you have for a first season. Its always good to have some excuses up your sleeve as well, just in case you don't win.
  16. Ivan, its "Competed In, excluding Blyton Outer, for technical reasons". ( I'll fix it tmrw)
  17. Curborough 8 drivers: I can't attend the Curborough 8 event, so we (well, you) will need a small team, ideally 3 or more, to help enter results. We might need a laptop and second screen too. Please let me know if you can volunteer a couple of hours - the usual volunteers are also welcome, but they've had a few turns now, and might like a break! AB
  18. I'll fix when I can get a copy of the official results. Justin - Harewood "Live Timing" shows 63.02 for you for T3 and T4. Is that wrong? Both, yes, as per #22, I incorrectly have your best times marked as practice times.
