    10 spokes

From memory they are 15in rims 7in wide with the low profile CR500's which mean they are pretty much the same diameter as the 13in minators if you include the tyres you can see them in the pictures via my sig Piccy's here

  5. I suffered exactly the same and discovered that the door panel had a break in it so that when driving the panel would bow allowing water to fire in from the front. Bought new door no water gets in now problem solved
  6. Well the exhaust has a rattle (which is not the primaries) and i have come to the conclusion that the likely culprit is a loose baffle. Over the last couple of weeks i am now getting alot of crackling on cold on acceleration but once the engine has run for a few minutes all is well and the crackling stops. Car was recently serviced but only plugs and oil plus lube of propshaft etc so nothing out side a normal service. Is the crackling likely to be the exhaust, as it's the original AFAIK and car is a 97 If so how easy to order one from Powerspeed or raceco (yes i know i missed the bulk buy ) can i just order or do they need my current exhaust as a measurement check? Thoughts? Edited by - wild bill on 22 Oct 2008 13:25:32
  7. I have experimented with this but to no avail also i have mastic sealed the primaries as well. I'll keep experimenting in the meantime.
  8. I have a 4-into 1 exhaust on my K series 1.8ss which is rattling. I thought it was the heat shield so removed this but the rattle is still there and seems to be inside the exhaust. Is there a way of turning it into a repackable relatively cheaply? I don't want to spend on a raceco can as i am saving my pennies so that when the k engine eventually goes pop i can change to Duratec. If not i'll stick with the rattle but me feels this exhaust has had it's best days
  9. Damn missed you stationary! Aah clear now there's an idea SMT will mail you if i decide to take up your offer many thanks but may go the clear route Cheers

    Indicators

I need 2 new side indicator lenses, where can these be sourced? can't find them on the Caterham on line store Edited by - wild bill on 6 Oct 2008 13:41:22
  11. I have a mate who cannot currently post who has a 1800 VVC seven and he had a problem with the engine refusing to rev beyond 4000. The fault was traced to a faulty air temp sensor in the inlet manifold and the problem was cured. The problem is now back after a few months so the question is what reason could be destroying air sensors would it be electrical power surge? or something similar. Does anyone have experience of this?
  12. Rob Thanks, i know oil changes are more frequent than necessary but £30 isn't horrendous and as you say it won't hurt. O/P seems fine running between 25 and 30 psi on hot running and it doesn't use oil. It's always been warmed up before high revving and i'm not a trackday nut and i don't tend to thrash it anyway. The only reason for the question was a case of better a refresh than a new engine (although im always ready for that duratec upgrade excuse) but i'll continue as i am, as your advice has always been spot on. I have to say this engine is really lovely and goes great. Hope all is well with you and yours
  13. My Seven has now done 30 odd thousand miles about 10 of which have been on the upgrade from 1.8 SS to a vhpd head TB's and emerald producing 188 bhp which is quite enough for me FTTB. The gearbox has been refreshed recently and whilst out i fitted a lightweight flywheel and new clutch. Car now goes very nicely. I have an apollo tank no dry sump, i've done 4 track days and change oil very regularly (every 1500 - 2000 miles or so or after a trackday) Servicing is regular too Is it worth a refresh over the winter or do i keep going until a problem manifests itself and if so what's a refresh likely to cost and is there anywhere within a shout of bath who could do it? Any thought welcome

    Wibble ...

There was another cooper for sale at silverstone and in Motorsport for £70k and that red cooper has been up for sale for quite a while. Much as i love the cooper the JC Lotus 18 really would be quite something to own Avery nice Porsche 911 t 2.2 went at bonhams silverstone for £12950 and it was absolutely mint as far as i could see ☹️ missed it

    Re-using Oil

i use a suction pump via the dipstick which is clean, does not provide opportunity to cross thread, and is quick. I use it for mid service oil changes as i like to use freash oil more frequently than the service intervals. You can't use em all the time but they are great bits of kit for moments like this, and inexpensive to buy
  17. I have had the same mystical clonking problem recently and now my question is answered as i had a gearbox rebuild and fitted a lightweight flywheel and wondered why car had a new clonking sound. I thought it was the P/S too but layshaft makes complete sense to me, now much happier
  18. Those nice people at Pitney Bowes have given us a new franking machine BUT didn't explain thet the old ink cartridges wouldn't fit so i have 4 brand new unused cartridges available say for £70 (six were £160) so i think this is fair Anyone?..............................Dust?
  19. Silkoflex, permanent but neat
  20. Neil Not that i can remember though it was last year and my memory is terrible. I have my digital with me today so let me get a pic and mail it to you then you can see the install. Will be later this PM
  21. Rob I'm running a mech guage so didn't think there was a sender involved, am i wrong there? I did a level check with engine warmed and at idle and oil was at half way mark on the dip guage. I have put another half litre in and on testing this morning once warmed up problem seems to have lessened but haven't been able to do a full test on a hard enough corner yet. many thanks for everyone's input. Accusump sound like a good idea Rob, easy to fit?
