  1. OK Rob will do Yes i have had a test run or 2 New Trousers please and i'm taking it easy until a) i know it b) i've done the brakes and c) it's done just a few more miles. There are a few little teethers to sort but these are minor
  2. I've searched tech and it seems that for my 97 car (originally K series now Duratec) the spring rate should be 200lbs which seems about right (Rob Walker uses 250 but does more trackwork whereas i use it more for road) I can't remeber what i have currently but the car is sitting too high at the front, is there a recommended length of damper. I'll probably go adjustable eventually but as i've just done the engine conversion big money spending just has to cease for a bit. Any help appreciated

    Emerald maps

Dave You're in colchester and FWIW i'd drive up to Emerald as it's so close and sort it there for peace of mind. I'm going on Monday and i'm in Somerset ☹️
  4. On behalf of a mate. I think these are £49 retail £35 Edited by - wild bill on 4 Sep 2009 10:02:43
  5. Thanks Paul I thought the regulator went prior to the filter (this would make fitting easier anyway!)and that the feed in to the bottom of the alpha was from the pump rather than the side feed being from the pump. i'll print this out so i don't forget
  6. Due to age, despite Rob Walker kindly telling me how to plumb my FP regulator on the 2.3 Duratec with a non return fuel rail about 3 times i have forgotten as everytime i call him as i'm about to install it something takes me away from the install and when i come back it all looks confusing again. The regulator is an Alpha i think and has one pipe out the bottom and one out the side and then a tiny one to vent i assume the bottom pipe goes to the fuel pump and the side pipe to the filter but where does the t piece go to return unwanted fuel, between regulator and pump or regulator and filter or does the t piece go between pump and filter with the regulator sitting between the t piece and the return to tank? I'm mighty confused
  7. OK everything is sold now after my Duratec upgrade except for a virtually Brand New raceco 6.5 silencer (about 150-200 miles of light road use since March) all fitted to primaries and 4 into1 collector to suit 1.8 K (came of my SS). £450 seems fair I won't see emails til Monday but can be mailed on ivan.mee@btinternet.com if anyones interested
  8. So Rob, am i right in saying that there are 2 hoses goping to the oil catch tank one from the cam cover and one from the breather just above the starter motor?
  9. Ok a few questions. My instal continues apace 2 steps forward 1 back as is the way of things for a complete novice. 3 questions for today 1) The backplate for the Pipercross airfilter. I have marked the centreline and then marked 12mm down as reccommended by Rob Walker however my engine is slightly nose down so should the backplate be level with the top rail of the sideskin(which is my view at the mo) or as currently marked, level to the Throttlebodies. 2) Hose from camcover oil breather goes to where? 3) The wiring into the back of the coilpack currently has wire on drivers side firing 1 & 3 and passenger side wire firing 2 & 4 is this the right way round? Still don't know the thread size for the mechanical op access into the sump and this is my biggest sticking point at the mo. I am left with installing the following Throttle cable Fuel Regulator Exhaust All hoses Radiator and fan (have had to fabriocate my own fan brackets despite CC assuring me they came with the rad) Possibly a different cam cover to allow bonnet to clear Rolling road bookedfor 21st July and hope springs eternal Oh and Rob Walker and Raceline have been truly magnificent in their patience and help to a complete mechanical novice
  10. My Braiiin My Braiiin Was in previous post but forgot to keep it Duratec 2.3 2009
  11. Right i've read 7FAQ but still need help I need the size of the engine sump access thread for the OP sensor which MAY be 1/4 npt can anyone confirm this Going by 7FAQ the braided hose thread size at the sump end is 1/8 BSP Edited by - wild bill on 10 Jul 2009 11:22:55
  12. sorted without POBC. I thought this was techtalk but there's a bigger response to a question about hot/cold bottoms in tillets
  13. Right POBC i am installing a 2.3 and have the titan 'long' bell housing to mate to my 6 speed box The ford slave cylinder (as used by Caterham) fits along with the adapter plate however the 2 bleed sleeves do not line up with the 2 access holes drilled in the bellhouse they are about an inch to far away.So call caterham who send a spacer (1cmish) it still doesn't line up so call Titan who say have a bigger spacer (3cm) my worry is that this will not allow full disengage of the clutch and more so as it wears. My choices are wait until Tuesday and see if bigger spacer works (another weekend wasted) or drill 2 access holes further up the bellhouse (in gearbox direction) and fill the current holes with either a plate or 2 very short bolts. Oh the joy (actually for complete novicelike me i'm kinda enjoying the challenge, keeps me out of the house 😬)
  14. I have the Mocal Oilcooler to fit this weekend. I assume that i drill 2 holes in each of the flanges on the radiator and that the cooler then sits level with the top 3rd of the rad? I'd have bought Pendennis' but it was posted to late
  15. Guys thanks alot. the local Rover parts people want .......£190 for the filter but they give you a nice new pump free with it Will try your way tomorrow
  16. What's bonkers is i ordered a new fuelpump (the R500) as i need the increased pumping power for the new engine it duly arrived but without the tea strainer thing. The filter then comes apart so i need a new one but as it's normally an upgrade they do not supply the strainer bit and if you order an R500 you apparently get charged for 2 fuel pumps
  17. it was a 1.8 supersport so standard K series pump. Should've said but brain very slow this morning due to H/O
  18. This is extremely long shot but does anyone have a fuel pump filter as mine is knackered and Caterham will only supply it with the pump (£115 😳) and it is not sold separately ☹️
  19. Dave That was the original intention however i discussed this with AMMO who gave me the impression that this would be problematic. Rob is currently building the engine and supplying the ancilliaries, did you turn yours Dave? I would of course prefer to keep it but my understanding was that this is not possible any advice appreciated
  20. UPDATE Ok K series Bellhousing is still available as is the Raceco Exhaust I am commencing the knockdown this weekend so Exhaust will be off the car. It's complete with primaries and collector (though could be separated) as this way you'll know it fits. I am open to offers that are at least reasonable go on try me it's gotta go
