  2. I disagree Ric. I think Stugrip was responsible in not naming and shaming, but just mentioning it is perfectly acceptable. I thought how good Alex Rae's post was in ChitChat this morning about I have a new respect for bikers, so this is just the same but sadly of a negative nature and worse still as it was of fellow 7-eners. Obviously, if Stugrip was sat by his broken car picnicking and looking jolly, then I have no sympathy as the other 7-owners probably wouldn't have given it a second thought that he might be broken down, though even then I think I'd have still looked over to exchange the 'Caterham nod'. Just my opinion. Giles Beryl the Peril (HPC)

  6. YU54 Y*M Deep Blue with silver stripe and nosecone tip? 7.30pm Friday 2 July You went round the roundabout by the Axe & Compass at Wolvey, as I was outside on the phone with a pint of Brew XI You left at one junction, then a minute later came back up to it via another approach road and headed off Burbage direction towards the A5... 7. K7 ??X possibly. Yellow. Thursday 1 July. On A5 and into Hinckley. Spotted by a friend from the pub who told me excitedly last night. Edited To Add: Must have still been in sleep mode when I posted, as this was of course K7, Bob the Builder's sturdy steed on its way back from Jason's Curborough day. Hope you had a good day. Rik was due to go on that too wasn't he? Cheers, Giles Edited by - gileshudson on 3 Jul 2010 13:43:05
  8. A day or so after cleaning and then driving it, my 7 (yellow too) looks the same yellow unless you make the mistake of slopping drops of fuel from the filler nozzle on withdrawal and then wiping it off with a paper towel. You suddenly realise then that what you took to be your yellow is nothing like what shows through and you end up wiping the whole of the rear panel down to make it consistent ☹️ I'm used to it now and just try and not wipe the rear panel at all, till I'm ready to actually clean it properly. 10. Third party spot by Charlie aged 12 (normally my co-driver but not with me that day): - Blue with white stripe in Leamington Spa, near the railway station last Friday (11th) If you're white with blue stripe and were in that area that day, it may still be you as that was the stated colour when he started telling me he'd seen a Caterham Giles Beryl the Peril (HPC)
  11. Huzzar, my first spot . . . I was that very same Yellow HPC. Was that you in the mean looking XJ at the lights then Guy?! I didn't see the SV, as I was behind a bus . . . but then again maybe not! 😬 Giles Beryl the Peril (HPC)
  12. Can someone please advise which 'Halfords spare bulb kit number' I need. Caterham isn't listed in their kit guide in store, strangely enough 😬 Hopefully, someone has worked it out, bought the kit and remembers the number. If not, hopefully someone knows what the Halfords codes are for the individual bulbs I need to make up a European travel kit. Thanks in anticipation . . . Giles Beryl the Peril (HPC)
  13. Well guessed Michael Mcalvert . . . but glad you're sorted now Rob 😬 Giles Beryl the Peril (HPC)
  14. Thursday 13 May 8.45am Layby on Eastern Relief road around Coventry. Heading north (towards M6/J2 or M69 ?) - Yellow. - Aeroscreened. - Halfdoors. - Headlamp covers. - Reg was either M7 SLR or W7 SLR . . . very tight spaced first letter. Giles -----Beryl the Peril (HPC)
  15. I'm 99.9% sure that the Halfords ones I bought last weekend had 2 x nuts on already... if that helps Pearl Exhaust Mnt PSM01C 922526 £0.99 Giles -----Beryl the Peril (HPC)
  16. For what it's worth . . . my VX engine has the head off currently, ready for the Coscast replacement head to go on Saturday. Because of the engine to water pressures, the porosity issue meant that oil got into watrer, but not vice versa as a head gasket can. I'm stuffing cylinders with rags and gaffering the entire top of the block on Friday to block the oil ways, before trimming out and then hosing out the water channels only. As for the head, that went through my Miele dishwasher twice this week. Two tablets, at 65oC and it came out squeaky clean 😬 Just had to run two rinse cycles empty afterwards to rid a few black spots from spray arms and the bottom. Good job I'm still single at this point. I had Googled the idea and found quite a few instances where people had done it to good effect. As for any residual I missed and in hard to flkush pipes, then I'll fill the coling sytem up with water and antifreeze/coolant, run the car to temp, drive her a bit and then change it for fresh. 18. Forum description of fitting same film on an Audi estate rear bumper Plus from the interwebulator . . . installation instructions for "Clear Safety & Security Window Film . . . INSTALLATION: The film is fitted using a solution of one pint of water to one teaspoon of Johnsons baby shampoo or washing up liquid, a sharp knife, glass scraper, squeegee and some lint free cloth." That gives you the mix ratio for the washing up liquid. I used about that mix ratio and certainly that technique when I liveried a van at work . . . and also funnily enough for a Zagg cover on my iPhone. Have fun 😬 Giles Beryl the Peril (HPC) Edited by - gileshudson on 27 Apr 2010 18:18:21
  19. My four primaries, collector, rear box and shield are currently off the car while the Coscast head goes on, so I want to get them polished professionally before refit. I don't think they've been done sine 1996 and four hours' manual work on the primaries last summer showed me what can be achieved. I just went to Attleborough Metal Polishing in Nuneaton and they wanted £90 !!! I'm sure I've read posts on here recently quoting £30, 45, 55, 35, etc. Over to the POBC . . . Any recommendations for polishers local to me (Leics/Cov/Bham/etc) please ? Giles -----Beryl the Peril (HPC)

  21. Axe & Compass roundabout near Hinckley Red Driver only Top down. Headed off in direction of angled t-junction with B4109. I was standing at the front of the pub, trying to describe to someone what a Caterham looked like . . . when spookily you came around the roundabout . . . Giles -----Beryl the Peril (HPC)
  22. Blimey that was quick... thank you in advance and please say sorry to Sue in advance 😬 Giles Beryl the Peril (HPC)
  23. Ian, YHM re the 2 x Map Pockets. They were paid for by BACS to you on 24 Feb so I now just need to sort out getting them . . . I am at WightBlat if two map pockets are transportable? If not let me know, whether you ever come to Coventry (I work at LRQA on business park by Baginton Airport) of if you just want to stick them 'em in the post, as they presumably (hopefully) don't weigh much or take up much room? Cheers for doing this for Bruno... and us! Let me know how much by whatever route. Giles Giles -----Beryl the Peril (HPC)
  24. Bri - with the notorious battery life in the iPhone (even the 3GS), if I ran the satnav unpowered I reckon it would be completely flat in under an hour... so that'll be powered from car too... Giles -----Beryl the Peril (HPC)
