  2. Fab day out in Beryl yesterday . . . sunny, mild and dry 😬 I love my car . . . Today, nosecone off for front end work and in checking levels, tyre pressures, etc, I realised I've no level markings on the HPC coolant reservoir (normal globe reservoir). Relying on the power of blatchat . . . advice welcome, plus if it's just top up do I antifreeze or not? Cheers, Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC) Get an iPhone for free . . . PM me or click here

  4. A colleague in my office wishes to know why? . . . not why you're getting rid, so much as to know why you had it in the first place. . . . and what was all that about fluids? Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  5. Dave; genuine question, but if your Scottoiler FS365 is water soluble and you sprayed it on the underside of your car two years ago to protect against corrosion, why hasn't it just washed off? Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  6. Try Macmillan Motorsport in Hinckley, literally up the road from Mallory Park and Caterham Midlands. here Andy Mac is one of the late Roger Clark's team who's gone solo. He runs this company which preps and races Caterhams. My mate Craig works there. Tell them Craig's mate Giles recommended you. Cheers, Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  7. Sounds interesting. Could you ping me piccies too please (gileshudsonatyahoodotcodotuk)Cheers, Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)

  11. Congrats Nige. Better now that "The end is in sight" than "The end is nigh" which was previous outlook after engine issues. Enjoy and thanks for progress throughout build. Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  12. "Brand new car . . . completed only weeks ago" . . . With one of the photos dated 11/02/2004 . . . Interesting Good looker tho! Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  13. David, Welcome. Anything we can do to help more people get the se7en message the better. You've done well by hitting on this site firstly. Next steps . . . Join the club (~£40ish), get down to your local monthly meet and meet other owners. Any advice you get may help you find exactly what you seek. Scan the papers and websites. Caterham pre-owned Autotrader Caterham section on Pistonheads . . . I'm sure other members will kick in with links to the others sites out there that you want to keep tabs on. VVC might be tough at the numbers you mention, but happy hunting, Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  14. Red Caterham (two up) which crossed with me but going towards Warwick as I was approaching a roundabout going the other way towards Balsall Common. Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  15. Yellow seven, twos up, on the Easenhall road between Brinklow and Harborough Magna about 7-ish tonight. Just about had time to flash as I came through the bends. Greta road for a blat. First seven I've seen while in mine, since I bought Beryl back in June. Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)

  17. Martin, This is confusing I had a long Google search for whether it was possible for programs to remain hidden in 'Add/Remove Programs'. I don't know what's happening with your system as it appears that the only ones that can remain hidden are built-in Windows components, e.g., Games, Calculator, etc. I don't imagine you want to remove these sorts of programmes. To get rid of something as complex as Norton I'd personanlly use the Add/Remove facility. Go through Start>Programmes>Norton>etc and I am 99.99% sure you'll find a built-in Uninstall Norton link which will do a better sort of remove than going through Control panel. If this doesn't work or you can't do it that way for some reason, then try this custom Norton uninstaller tool http://www.pctuneuptips.com/recommends/uninstall/?gclid=CPmy47unnZUCFQyR1Qodqgn0fw Keep me posted, Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  18. I'm after a tonneau cover (new or used) for my 1996 HPC and unsure whether I can get one 'off the shelf', with S-type seat pockets in as standard. I could get a tonneau from Caterham, SB4S or maybe Oxted. Any advice or a chance that maybe someone has upgraded seats in their 7 from S-types to Tillets and has a redundant cover they are looking to get rid of. Here's hoping, Giles PS: Beryl link below shows the car; regarding my roll bar type, etc. Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC) Edited by - gileshudson on 20 Aug 2008 22:40:19
  19. You beat me Mick. Must get some typing lessons, cos that's what slows me up . . . replying to posts Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  20. Down on the left on the Lotus 7 Club home page, the 7FAQ link has a whole section on chassis numbers and how to read them . . . right down to the last digit. http://7faq.com/owbase/ow.asp?ChassisNumbers Cheers, Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  21. PS: That's 'keep us posted' on how the brakes work, not the web links Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  22. Add .jpg to the end of each of the links when they appear in your browser's address bar after clicking them and they each work. Cool set up. Keep us posted on how they work, Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  23. Thanks Guy, Gary, John, Roger, etc for all the advice. It's help like this that makes Se7en ownership so much more than just owning a piece of metal in a garage (no matter how gorgeous it is). Thanks too to Maury712 for raising the subject in the first place else I'd have probably just muddled on. Giles Guy - Hopefully see you at the next Warks meet at The Boat (Stockton) on 3 Sept, plus any of the others that can make it. Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  24. Gary, Might coolant (through over pressurisation) be the spots of whitish evaporated residue I find across the front top end of my XE when I come back from a blat. I'm new to the car as of two months and love it to pieces, but am no engineer, so any pointers on things to look out for or anything that can or has gone wrong with your (or other club members) XE car in the past would be fab. I am absolutely loving my HPC and am keen to learn, so I can get the most out of her. Pity we can't have a 'Owner Technical Update - HPC 2.0XE' section in TechTalk. Cheers, Giles Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
  25. Never been a TR fan, but the 6 always had 'something' about it . . . Your friend's care is an absolute beauty. If I wasn't a happy Se7ener :) G Beryl the Yellow Peril (HPC)
