  1. For the GoPro sound you need to use an external microphone, looks like you have the media mod with the USB cable to overcome the battery life issue. Some mount the microphone under the bonnet, good noise it you have throttle bodies or I have mine under the dash. Gets it out of the wind and stops the mike from clipping giving a horrible popping noise on your video. Looks like a lot of fun. DerekH
  2. I'm using a Hero 9, battery life is only an hour so USB lead removes this problem. I normally use a Rode video microphone and mount, a friend has a Sure microphone under the bonnet. The built in GoPro microphone will clip when it cant cope with the wind noise and adds harsh popping noise to your video. Plenty of knowledge on here. Last years fish & chip run DerekH
  3. GoPro large tube mount. USB-C power lead so no battery life issues. I also use an external microphone inside the car to eliminate the wind noise DerekH
  4. Red or orange with full top up on Woodhead pass Saturday afternoon.
  5. I had exactly the same issue when my screen was replaced under warranty back in November. The frame was not sealed to the top of the screen and would move upwards when using the hood or half hood, enough to open a gap and let water through the top of the screen. They made a better job of it 2nd time around in December, not exactly 7 weather! I'd take it back if your not happy.
  6. Hi Roger, PM message sent. I'm happy to make you a brake line. Derek
  7. Rich, Cad files are here; https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-N1xAZflfujHWm8XC1FcDFjQnePVB3mI/view Get them printed here. https://3dprintdirect.co.uk Cost about £55 last year for a pair in the carbon reinforced nylon. Need to paint them black as they are dark gray. Use blackened M6 Stainless steel countersunk M5 screws and nuts from Ebay. When trying to buy SPA formula mirrors its difficult to get the convex mirrors. Would suggest the SPA GT mirrors might be better being slightly bigger. Below is my test fit prior fixing onto the door. Let me know if you need anything more. Derek

    Noise Cameras

I found this while looking into this, a piece from last year. https://www.express.co.uk/life-style/cars/1506715/classic-car-owners-new-noise-cameras-fine-penalty Cameras seem to be targeting the super car population in London Derek
  9. Booked and deposit paid. Thanks for the info Roger Derek
  10. Jim, that looks amazing. Very nice car! Think that would be pretty scary if pushed hard. The speed differential to the other traffic is something else to deal with to keep it safe. Thought you deserved a reply. DerekH
  11. Donnington used to run trackdays on a Sunday morning and I used one as a shake down test for the Sunbeam which was used as a tarmac rally car on single venue events. All the BMW M3's were being pulled up for noise and everyone was surprised we were not. Used to test 94db static Started off damp on some AO21's and then swapped to medium molded slicks. I don't have any video, but the noise was cool. 4x48 downdraft carbs I was put off when places came up as not for novices, I'm a novice in a Caterham. I don't miss 4mpg! DerekH
  12. Robert, That looks properly quick, my Lotus Sunbeam used to hit the rev limiter at 130mph by the bridge when it was there. Did have a 4.2 Rover V8 pulling it along Some new rubber and a little less traffic would have helped, looked like fun. DerekH
  13. I was the Yellow 7 behind you. Your nearside brake light is not working and your reverse lamp comes on randomly. Here is 4 seconds of video of the sheep encounter. Regards DerekH
  14. Thanks John, I've ordered some of those, be useful on a few other things too. Regards DerekH
  15. Does anyone have a smart solution to the blinding blue LED on the rev counter for main beam indication? I'd rather not put a piece of tape on the glass if possible. I have a 2019 270S. I don't expect to drive much at night but the return trip from on the Fish & Chip run from Chepstow to Olney was impeded by not really being able to use the main beam and the glow worms not really working well. Some lighting improvement is on the upgrade list! Thanks in advance DerekH
  16. A pair of Peltor Opitime 3 ear defenders with 35db noise reduction arrived yesterday, £22 delivered. Quickly tried them, starting the car, can hear the exhaust but much quieter. Will do a driving test later today. Will consider pairing with some wireless Bluetooth buds if I need navigation. Can lift the left one off to talk with the passenger when needed. No need to use a telephone in the 7, I go there to get away from it! I'll let you know how it goes Derek
  17. I've noticed over several blats locally that lots of driver are using hearing protection. I have some Alpine ear plugs designed for motorcycle use that are supposed to cut the noise by 23dB After 8 hours in the car yesterday doing the West Herts. Prostate 150 blat I felt like I needed something more. Are noise canceling systems like those from JAL or Zero Noise ( Demon Tweeks) worth the money. Interested in your experiences please. DerekH
  18. Well I'll be completely spooking myself. my friend Graham lived at the bottom of the downs we grew up building Mk1 & Mk2 Escorts & doing 12 car rallies. I went the other route with a 1275 GT mini. 1293 cc 649 ST race cam, straight cut crash box. Fast for it's day 4:1 diff on 10" wheels. 60 @ 7K in 2nd. Probably around 100bhp. We lost Graham to COVID in April last year. Know he'd love the 7. Derek
  19. Dan, How about a Watts App group? We all watch our phones, not attached to the desk/computer all the time. I'm going out tomorrow, no plan for time or destination yet. Maybe Dunstable Downs. Run down the A5, Hockliffe, Standbridge and up past the zoo at Whipsanade, down the hill and left at the crossroads from memory. Anyone want to play out? Derek
  20. I'M in North Bucks, Lavendon. 2 miles from Bedfordshire border and 10 miles from Bedford. Love to go out to play. Derek
  21. And again today........ you do like the A428. 10:30ish heading south. I was off to get my work car washed. Now we are allowed out some people want to see me again. Nice job in Low Flying. Must book mine in for a front end check. Hope we can meet soon Derek
  22. Around 9:30 testing brakes heading towards Northampton. Red S3 with full cage and numbers crossed through. Would have been cold for sure.
  23. Having had a look at the panel to remove them I think they will be staying in with the harness's in addition for a while. Thanks for your answers Derek
  24. Hi Steve, thank you for the quick answer I think I saw that while I was under the car yesterday. I had to remove the rear spring/damper units to access the roll bar mounting. I could leave them in place if I use longer bolts. If you remove them what goes in the top mounting point where the belt would come across your shoulder? Derek
