  1. Hello, Welcome to the new area page. I'm looking for a photo to use at the top of this page ideally of 7's parked outside The Old Swan on a club night. The old picture went with the old web site so it's time for something new. Can anyone help please? email to mailto:northantsbedsbucks@caterhamlotus.club Thanks Derek
  2. Wednesday 18th at The Old Swan 19:30
  3. I changed mine at 3 years and vacuumed out the old oil. I came out a nice dark blue colour with no bits in it. I was able to remove a liter of oil. Replaced with 800ml of Castrol Transmax BMW LSD oil. Available on Amazon. It seems to be more slippery dropping the preload by 4 pounds and made the low speed noise much less. Diff still locks up nicely when required. I only have Sigma to push it along, so far its holding up OK. Pre-load is still at 40 pounds. DerekH
  4. My gauge magic board and LED is now fitted calibrated and tested. My SV tank takes 38 usable litres having emptied and filled it during the calibration process. Tank got down to halfway on Saturday and took 18 litres to refill. Gauge at half full is set at 20 litres. Pleased with that. Started on Sunday with a half tank and ran it down to 12 litres, to flashing orange warning. LED Got to 10 litres and flashing red LED, then 6 litre warning with the solid red LED. Filled with 28 litres, so maybe some more margin but knowing what the gauge is reading is much more helpful than just a vague indication. Maybe I could have got more fuel in but covering your shoes in petrol is never nice. Well done again Andrew. DerekH
  5. On a sample of one, mine only does that when the stat opens. Derek
  6. When I fill my Sigma I run the engine with the cap off and the radiator bleed open. When the thermostat opens the header tank level drops and the water comes out of the radiator bleed. Close the bleed, top it up and run it up to temperature. Done 3000 miles this year after fitting a Radtec with no issues other than it maybe runs a bit cooler by 10 degrees. The other way of checking you have no air lock is to measure the volume of water/coolant you put in. Capacity is supposed to be 5 litres I think I got just over 4.5 into mine as you never get the block completely drained. DerekH
  7. I fitted a Radtec in March, runs a bit cooler but build quality is fantastic. They also advise blue coolant IAT rather than OAT (red), saying they only see failure with pin holes in those with red. Radtec will also make you a vertical version if you prefer it. Having the tanks on the side make it stronger for the mounting. Get your fan size correct and the mounts will be welded to the radiator. The fan mounting brackets are then not required. DerekH
  8. Yes, picture is from my 270S Sigma a week ago. DerekH
  9. A low cost ODB reader will give you engine temperature on a smart phone App This is under £12 on Amazon using FOC Auto Doc app DerekH
  10. Not carbon fiber Nic, its conductive. Some insulating material would be better, but if the leads are in good condition it shoun't be an issue. Derek
  11. A friends 150 Sigma is the one Jonathan was referring too. What year is your car? I have a 2019 built Sigma and it has two temperature senders, his is a 2007 car and just has one located on the back of the cylinder block. Mark changed the sensor but is still seeing the low temprature issue. My car used to run a steady 90 but now runs at 80 or below following a radiator change to a Radtec unit. Mark also has a new Radtec radiator. It might be worth trying and OBD reader to see what the ECU thinks the engine temperature is. Derek
  12. Hello all knowledgeable Blatchat, I'm looking to drain the fuel tank in order to calibrate Andrew Revill's Gauge Magic device. Appears I have only one connection from the pump to a pressure regulator and the fuel rail with no return pipe. The connection looks to be a quick release of some type. I'm thinking this would run the pump until empty if disconnected? Would it be easier to disconnect on the top of the fuel pump? Derek
  13. Thanks Andrew, Appreciate the offer, I'm just up the road 5 miles from Neil Anderson who you helped out with his non-functioning fuel pump. I'll be seeing Neil tonight at our club night. Really liked reading all the detail, circuit and the construction information. I like what you've done. I could have built it, but too lazy! I used to build lots of stuff when I was a kid. Made my first PCB when I was 12! Eyes are not so good for close stuff these days. I'll get the old laptop out and see if it will work first. It's a fun project, I reckon you'll sell more than you think. Derek
  14. Very clever Andrew, A great solution to a typically Caterham problem. I've ordered an assembled board and LED today. I'll try it on your setting as I have an SV also, programming will require the use of a steam driven laptop PC that was replaced by a Mac some years ago. Thanks. Derek
  15. Andy, Peltor Opitime III are the best. Circa £30 online. Basis for the JAL ProCom headset that I use all the time. Derek
  16. Hi, These are referred to as race washers in Caterham parts. They stop the metal to metal contact from the cups on the A-frame to the central De Dion mount. They are a consumable part. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/352867829826?var=622132013133 Gets you 10 for the price of two! Derek
  17. Thanks, I've given mine a tweak with the crowbar and have gained a few more millimeters before the change over. They don't move very easily DerekH
  18. Gerard, What was your stay bending technique? I'm fitting Toyo's on Tuesday. My worn out ZZS's have only 5mm of clearance. Regards DerekH
  19. I'm hoping my theory is right and I don't have a mystery gremlin hiding Glad your working again. Since I put mine away in November I have replaced an alternator and radiator. Hope all keeps going OK DerekH
  20. I have just had a similar issue with my 270S. I had the cam cover off to fix an oil leak, I didn't put the sealer in the corners when I replaced it last year. In putting the plug leads back on I must have pushed the in straight and didn't follow the cant on the engine. The plug cap is so soft it seems its possible to miss the plug, with the lead going all the way into the hole. Carefully refitted the plug caps and away she went. I can now get on with flushing out the old coolant......... DerekH
  21. Very similar looking motor listed on kit car direct for £199.98 currently http://www.kitcardirect.co.uk/universal-110-degree-sweep-windscreen-wiper-kit.html Derek
  22. Hi Max, Check the light connection to the alternator, mine was very corroded. It sits right on the top of the engine next to the cam cover on a Sigma, directly under the louvres, so it can easily get wet. Battery voltage should go up to 13.8 volts if the alternator is working. Just pick the RPM up a little and see if it improves. From your description it sounds broken like mine. Put the Ford part number into Google, I picked up a new one for £75 delivered next day. Derek
  23. Hi Stephen, What is the failure mode? Just not charging? If you can get it apart the regulator is available separately Lucas Regulator ACR I hope on a cross flow you don't have to remove half of the cooling plumbing to get at it. Regards Derek
  24. Interesting, I'll take a good look when it goes back together. Thanks Derek
