  1. Hi John, My son works for Racelogic. He says to check the pins in the camera connector or try swapping the camera feeds to see if the fault follows the camera. He suspects the camera as the forward facing unit is working along with all of the data overlays. Send an email to support@racelogic.co.uk for help. Regards DerekH
  2. The mounting is part of the alternator body, 3 bolts. two on top behind the water pipe running behind the manifold and one on the underside. It can only be mounted in this orientation. The cable gland does not really provide enough waterproofing. I'll be adding some RTV sealant inside the gland/boot. A new unit has been sourced from Lancaster rotary electrics for £75 including shipping. It's a Ford part. When fitted in a Fiesta it gets a nice roof over it, staying dry. Thanks for the answers
  3. My 270S SV's alternator has failed while laid up for the winter. No battery light on the tacho when ignition on and no output voltage from the alternator. The connection for the light is completly corroded. I think its my fault but I thought I'd share it on here. This is a 2020 car so just 3 year old. I washed the car before I put it away. the Sigma alternator sits almost on the top of the engine and the connector is vertical. It is directly under the louvers on the LH side of the bonnet. So to remove the alternator on a Sigma you need to drain the coolant to remove the aluminium pipe that runs behind the inlet manifold to access the bolts. This led me to find out the radiator is leaking in all four corners and need to be repaired, replacement ordered from Radtech. So my idea is to make a rain/water shield to protect the alternator, has anyone already done this? DerekH
  4. Plastic tweezers would be my choice. The acid will be eating the bolt and contaminating the cell. It might not recover well or make no difference at all. DerekH
  5. I'm also running 13" Apollo's with 6" fronts and 8" on the rear on a 270S sat on ZZS's. 8" and 215's on the rear just look better. Recommend you get it flat floored and the ride height adjusted to suit the 13" wheels. Ride height on the front drops significantly going from 15 -13 Best change I've made to my car! DerekH
  6. On the A428 heading towards Northampton just before the Warrington roundabout 15:00 ish DerekH
  7. Pair off standard road spec M2 dampers with progressive springs. Non-adjustable. Caterham part number 75531A £250 for the pair. Will post at cost. Removed from 2020 SV at around 10,000 miles DerekH
  8. Free to collector Standard black Caterham roll hop without diagonal for a Metric SV chassis. From a 2020 car, removed 2021. Located Lavendon, North Bucks. DerekH
  9. Hi Mark, I have a pair off a 2020 car that have seen around 7000 miles of road use. £50 for the pair. They will not go back on the car so they may as well get sold. I'm in Lavendon, North Bucks. Regards DerekH
  10. Nice that you got it done under warranty. My 2020 Sigma Ti-VCT cam cover gasket also failed, spraying oil mist over the exhaust. Replacement gasket sourced from Burton Power. Think the one Caterham list is for the non-VCT engine. They are different. VCT head does not have the sharp corners and does not need sealant. Engine seal went in the bin. Torque and sequence below for reference. . DerekH
  11. I use a Mac for a desktop PC and there is a Mac version, how I got there. It has a lot of features, very powerful. Easy enough to import you media, multiple GoPro 8 minute segments join them together add titles, music, blur out and track the speedo and export to YouTube. YouTube tutorials are plentiful. Lots of keyboard shortcut to learn, When you are used to it editing gets quicker. After recording a blat now I can take an hour down to 20 minutes finished video in around 30 minutes. As its free if you don't like it you've not lost anything. Regards DerekH
  12. Hi Justin, I have a 9 with the Media Mod to use external usb power and microphone. Without an external microphone the wind noise causes a lot of clipping I also have the 256Gb card to can record 8 hour in 4K. Mine occasionally locks up requiring a battery out reset which requires taking the camera out of the media mod. 9 has a front display and flashing LED to let you know its recording. The Insta 360 is a similar price and has a front and back camera which the software stitches together for you. If you use a usb power supply from the car you do get issues with control from your phone. The noise generated by the switch mode power supply in the 12 volt to USB converter interferes with the GoPro Wifi connection. When they work they are great. I've lost a few recording to it recording in time lapse. For editing I use Davinci Resolve. The amateur version is free and very powerful. Here is a short 2 minute example Regards DerekH
  13. mph, I agree the lower position gives a better perspective, the higher position saves time editing out the speedo detail on the road, different when your on a circuit. DerekH
  14. Wex photo video. Plenty to choose from here. Rode VideoMicro is £49 Dead cat is the name given to the big fluffy cover that cuts down the wind noise. A friend uses a Sony Lavalier under the bonnet to good effect with a K series. My Sigma sounds awful, too much cam noise at idle. Watch out for odd things happening when you have the camera powered from the USB adapter. They use switch mode power supplies to reduce the 12 volts to 5 volts. I find this interferes with GoPro's Wifi if you try to control the camera from a phone. For reliability I now always start the recording manually from the camera. For video editing DaVinci Resolve is free, very powerful but quite complicated to get your head around. Here is one of my shorter videos, GoPro stabilisation off on this one. DerekH
  15. Hi Beagler, I use the GoPro Media Mod, this gives our external USB C and microphone connectors and the camera remains waterproof. With the door open the battery will fall out! You will need an external microphone otherwise the wind noise saturates the microphone and you end up with a horrible clipping noise. My microphone is under the dash, some people put them in the engine bay. You'll need an extension cable. Avoid microphones with 4 rings connectors they don't work with a GoPro Media Mod. I use a Rhode Video Micro with a dead cat. Lot's of fun to be had working it all out. Then the video editing.... That's a whole new adventure. DerekH
  16. Hi Dave, I'll have a set coming off a 2020 270S SV next week with 10,000 miles on them. PM me if your still looking. DerekH
  17. Hi Geoff, I've adjusted some of the play out of the actuator, there is still 2-3mm. I can see that its not going to cause an issue but it's not nice when it goes"click" every time you use the pedal. Had it been a cable it would have been more of a worry. I've put the car back together as we're using it tonight and tomorrow. Thanks for the reply Derek
  18. Hello all knowledgeable Caterham folk, I have a 2020 Sigma SV with 10,000 miles. On Sunday I notice the clutch pedal had started to click during the initial part of its travel, everything still worked OK but I needed to check it out to make sure something wasn't going to break. Pedal box cover removed, I can see that the click comes from the nylon end on the actuator rod in the clutch master cylinder as it moves off the stop plate when the pedal is depressed. What do you think is the cause, clutch wear? Solution, tweak the adjustment a little to try to eliminate it? Anything I should know? Adjustment is not covered in the 2014 build manual that I have. Regards DerekH
  19. Any update after delivery? How is it? DerekH
  20. I think it might be a 185/55. Standard Avon ZZS size. I was measuring from the edge of the front number plate to the floor, so 30mm drop was easy to measure. I also lost 1" in track width at the front going from 6.5J to 6J. The car is just better on 13" rims. I have a lot more confidence in the car now. DerekH
  21. Hi Al, I have a 270S SC that came on 15" rims, I have changed to 13" with 185/60 ZZS front and 215/55 on the rear. Although the rear tyres are near the same size as the 195/55 15's the fronts are smaller and dropped the front ride height by 30mm. They are also 2.5Kg lighter I don't have adjustable platforms being an S model but they are on the shopping list. The 15" rims and low profile tyres make the car nervous and twitchy unless your on a billiard table smooth surface. I'd suggest you try a car on 15 inch rims first. I have lowered floors too and have spent the weekend on the F&C run reducing the seat bolts. Personally I'd choose 13" and adjustable platforms but that might not get you enough. DerekH
  22. 3 sevens in convoy traveling towards Bedford around 7:30 am. I was the yellow 270 going the other way.
  23. Came into Castle Clair car park while we took a quick break. Was surprised to find two more sevens there
  24. That's what my friend is looking for. How much? DerekH
  25. What's the ratio please? DerekH
