  1. Friday, 12th. Heading into Cirencester, around 11:30. I was blue in opposite direction.
  2. Bollocks! Boy-racer-red. Decidedly chavvy! And as for the standard of driving...
  3. I do remember reading that some chap who did very well on concours competitions recommending silver polish.

    Harnesses

Alan, I know you're quite slim, and I imagine you have the same problem as I in finding it difficult to tighten the waist straps sufficiently. For my GTKY7 day we attended, they suggested a Schroth harness as an alternative, as I think the pad is shorter, allowing the belt to be pulled tighter. Regards Alan

Excellent! Thanks Mossy. I now feel free to get the nice little ones to screw straight into the stanchion.
  6. Thank you Aero. So, please would you explain to my Boss, on my behalf, that both she and I will be so much safer in a 620R!
  7. Oooo! Nice looking car. And welcome. Sorry I'm not qualified to help, however. Though I'm pleased to say that there are plenty here who are, and will.
  8. I'm quite sure you, and the track day organisers, are entirely right. I really ought to get it replaced. It was absolutely state of the art when it was newly acquired. But there again, so was I! As to whether or not I'm worth it, would you mind trying to convince The Boss about that. After nearly forty years of marriage, I'm not at all sure she still believes it.
  9. I apply a wife to mine. I've found it far more reliable than anything I attempt directly.

Gordon Bennett, Jonathan! Do I have to wade through that lot? I hoped your encyclopedic knowledge would have saved me having to do that. My lips still move when I read!
  11. Having only bought my first 7 last year, and having only just tried track days, I did wonder if my old brains bucket would qualify. I've only done a couple of track days, but checked with the organisers would be OK with it. Both organisers allowed me to use it, though they did suggest that it might be prudent to get a new one. I bought this brains bucket after a previous car fell over and spoiled the paintwork, so this one hasn't had any dings. The scrutineer's sticker, however, shows that the last time it was checked was in 1978! Please don't tell anyone!

Is there a minimum size stipulated in the regs. for any mirrors, wing or central? I often wonder if some of these racing type mirrors are large enough to qualify were I to fit them, or whether the forces of Laura Norder might pull me over and chastise me.
  13. Mossy, YES!!! I've been spotted at last. The cloaking device must have malfunctioned. Well done SWMBO. She's made my day. Please thank her. I've been off air for a few days, so only just picked this up. Also just picked up your message, to which I've replied 'Yes'. I hadn't ignored it, I just wasn't aware it was there. Sorry about that.
  14. I tried the thing with the plastic waste pipe inserted into the inside of the pedal loop, and found it a big improvement (I have a feeling it was 57mm diameter), but still not enough for my old habitual H&T style. Its well worth trying though, as its cheap, quick and easy.
  15. Having developed a decades old habit of H&T with 'normal' pedals, and thus a bit more heel, I just couldn't find the go pedal when I first drove a 7 last year. Most embarrassing. Though I'm sure I should try to re-learn with the 7's pedal, I've added an arboreal extension, which I find easier.
  16. Whey Hey, I've been seen! No longer invisible. I must have accidentally turned off the cloaking devise. Thanks for the response Simon. And for the compliment re Mavis. If I hadn't bought a 'pretty' one I don't think The Boss would come touring in her. I really do like your traditional colour scheme, however. Yes, I forgot that I too saw a Morgan that day. Yes, there are some good ones round Northampton and Rutland, and over towards St. Neots, too. Do you live in the area? I'm over near Ramsey. Alan
  17. You wee heading West, just outside Clopton, With a cross bar on the roll bar. I was in the blue with silver stripes. You waved. Very nice, traditional colour scheme, as I wanted, but alas... Everyone was out today. I also saw a yellow McLaren just after yours, heading in the same direction, two Exige/Elises, a VX 220, and a red E-Type.

    Intercom System

Thanks for the reply. I have been thinking of it, and did phone them before Christmas, and again, a month of so ago. Just seems like a big outlay for what thus far would have been limited use (around £600 per car, inc. a cheap radio and inc. VAT), though I'll review that after going on a touring holiday in May. Having eventually clarified what I would need, it was interesting to find the quote Starcom emailed me was considerably higher than the price for the individual parts from their website. I did also talk to the guy at Earshot Comms., who was very knowledgeable and helpful, until it came to actually getting him to send me a quote, which took quite some prompting. So at present, my oppo with the Morgan and I are still considering it.

    Intercom System

Gnockoff Is your Starcom battery powered or off the car's electrics? I have heard that there can be interference if wired into the car, though Starcom have a cable to overcome this. I've been humming and haring for a while over going ahead with one.
  20. Prompted by the same phot, I've just removed and painted mine. I also have an SV and found the same clips. I just sprung them free by putting the screwdriver under the clip and giving a little twist.
  21. Yes please, Jonathan. I'd like a tube and a tool roll. I'm too thick to understand quite what the other bags are for, but I'll take whatever you tell me works.
  22. Thanks for that recommendation, Mossy. I shall file it away for when needed, either for 'Mavis' or the tin-top. You've given the price for straightening , what was the price for the rest of the treatement?
  23. I've Googled UK Eyewear and can find nothing, only other companies. Please would you post a link.
