  1. Nick, Thanks for the prompt reply, and the link. Its a good price, but I'm afraid I'm after a mohair version, so will pass. Thanks Alan
  2. Nick, Thought I'd posted last night, but it doesn't appear to be here, so apologies if this is a duplication of my question: Is it a vinyl or mohair boot bag? Does it have the carrying straps? Regards Alan
  3. 'The Boss' has just bought ma a CTEK MXS 5.0 for Christmas, on the basis of the comments here. Should I regard the Banner battery that's installed as a small battery, and use the mode with the motorcycle icon, or as a normal battery, so use the mode with the car icon?
  4. Whole heartedly agree. I'm up for suggestions. I see that Andrew Gilbert, Cambridgeshire Representative Coordinator, is organising a trip for a Cambs. Rolling Road Day, 12th Nov 2016 at Luke Stevens of Team Leos in Fordham, near Newmarket. He says he already has eight cars for the day, and I've said I'd like to go and get my car dyno'd, but has also suggested it might just be a good opportunity for a get-together. A
  5. I was out in 'Mavis' at around that time on Monday, blue though with a double silver stripe. My wife also spotted a blue with white stripe at Upwood yesterday, Tuesday, 11th at about 15:00, so it sounds as if there are now three of us quite close together. A
  6. Nor me. Though as I look over the number of 'Spotted' posts with zero replies, it looks as though most owners don't know they've been spotted by 'one of us'.
  7. At £160, are the Lego bricks made of carbon fibre? A.
  8. Today at 15:30 ish. I was the Blue one going in the opposite direction. A
  9. teembo, I've certainly found that the full hood requires no more clothing than a towel. And perhaps some pine paneling might be in keeping, rather than carpets. But thus far (I'm still very much a newbie), Ive found the half-hood usually gives a pleasant waft around the back of the neck. I can't help wondering where your 'down here' is. For me, I find the late afternoon and evening to be the time a good peak most useful. As for the latitude, I remember modernist architects needing to keep in mind that in the UK, they should use at least 1m overhang on eaves, whereas in more southern areas they could get away with narrower eaves, as the sun is closer to the vertical for longer.
  10. Delbert, "Why am I thinking "There is something about Mary"." Are you suggesting that the solution is a firm hold hair spray?
  11. Kensboats7, I admire your determination. There comes a point at which The Boss simply puts her foot down, and that's usually when I want to put my foot down. Truth is, when faced with a couple of hours of motorway driving, even I resort to the half-hood for comfort. As for my own headgear, whist I prefer driving without a hat, on sunny days I find the peak of a baseball cap a huge improvement to dynamic visual acuity, or, as we scientists call it, 'seeing.' Even with the side screens, however, it never feels quite secure. One of my flat caps feels more secure, but the shorter peek reduces acuity. Strangely, I've found one of my panama hats to be the most secure, even at high speeds, despite sticking above the screen (I'm 6' 2", though have lowered floors). How do the ladies feel about panamas? Mine refuses as she says it would still crush the hairstyle.
  12. Unfortunately, that picture looks nothing like my Boss when she gets out of the car. And, more's the pity, neither does that expression.
  13. I think a club headscarf is a good idea. I'd wear one to keep my ear hair from blowing in my eyes.
  14. A head scarf didn't work for my Boss, either. 'The Boss' now uses one of my old Borneo type (bucket hat, beanie hat, etc.) hats which, she says, is large enough not to crush the coif, but small enough to stay in place. For 'belt and braces' security, she has also sown two frightfully sweet ribbons on the sides, to enable her to tie it loosely under her dainty chin. On me, however, it now makes me look like a *%!?"$*! On grumpy days, however, she simply insists on the half-hood. I'm considering an intercom and guessing that an added benefit might be that the pudding basins over each ear, along with the connecting strap, might be enough to stop her crowning glory getting in her eyes. Can anyone here confirm this? A
  15. After you mentioning a blue one, Lo and behold! A blue one went burbling past my house (country road near Ramsey) around 18:00 yesterday evening, heading North. Only caught a glimpse, so dunno if it had a stripe. Wonder if its the same one you spotted. A
  16. You're right, I must. Mine has a double silver stripe in metal flake blue. Only sorry it wasn't me and that i didn't see you. Always nice to spot another.
  17. That description fits mine, and I have been bimbling along the A14 for a few days recently, though not today (Friday, 26th), as I went via St. Ives today.
  18. Does that require a towbar and a trailer to carry the spare set?
  19. I'm still very new to 7s, so attended their introductory Get To know Your Seven course recently at Caterham South. If I have taken my notes correctly, we were told that 13" were far better for handling (though they can "look a little lost on an SV") and preferably with ZZS tryres, which were better in the wet, though ZZR were also said to be very good.
  20. Mossy, Please tell me more about this carbon effect material you've used to protect the A frames. What is it? Where do I get it? Have you had time to find out if its the right solution? Regards A
  21. Just leaving town about 12:30. I woz the blue, going t'other way.
  22. Two yellow and alu., in convoy heading south on A1 north of Stamford at around 10:00. I was blue going north.
  23. Thanks, Garth. That's useful info. Regards A
  24. Garth What width rims have you changed to? Regards Alan
