  1. I did wonder about putting in down inside the door. Downside would be if it collected any rain water it would be channeling it inside the car. But when parked and wet I always use the shower cap anyway, so it would only be if caught in rain driving without the half hood. Your right I do not need a headrest cutout, just take it off. Fasteners just received so next time the suns out to warn it and allow stretching I will fit and see what I think.
  2. I have a secondhand tonneau cover that I am thinking of fitting and modifying. Want to use the passenger side half as a cover when touring to keep luggage, map etc under. To do this I need to cut the cover to fit the side door straps through it and get a headrest cutout fitted. Anybody done this? If so a picture would be good.
  3. Hi Ben. Mine did the same. Same engine. Changed to mechanical indication and it's been ok ever since. Bought mine from Merlin. Brian
  4. Flouren model U9. Last year I said this was great, but not for long. Just tried jump starting my MGB and after a couple of turns the jump starter voltage dropped away. Also the LED torch on it failed sometime ago. Tried to charge it but it never gets beyond 94%. Destined for the bin.
  5. Yes light working. Think I might replace with Bearmach fog and reverse sometime soon though.
  6. Hi. Glad they are cheap, just broke it. Your were right, just self welded by the rubber ring. Lens ok but back assy broken. Probably be ok for the MOT, but will now leak water so maybe I will replace with something a little higher quality!
  7. Hi. MOT booked tomorrow morning. Just doing a quick check and find the reverse light not working. Removed two screws from lens but lens will not come off the assy. Took two nuts of the back and the assy comes off the bracket but will still not come apart to check the bulb. This is an oblong light mounted below the back of the car, paired with the red fog light. Any idea?
  8. Hi. Anybody have a rivet squeezer in their tool kit? Not for pop rivets but for solid, hollow rivets. Not sure if the 7 uses these at all, but my Land Rover does and I need to fit some new door seals with one. They retail at £100 so not really wanting to buy just for a few rivets!
  9. I have used the Den Boche to Alexandria train (Dutch and did not run in 2016) and the French Paris to Nice train. Both in an MG rather than the 7 but the low ground clearance limit still applies. On both trips we loaded and unloaded the car ourselves, taking responsibility for any damage. I have heard of the staff using a rolling 100mm block under cars and refusing some. Could try increasing the tyre pressure before getting to the station !
  10. Time to sell my trailer. Its a twin axle brakes trailer. All good tyres plus good spare. Has a strap type winch and loading ramps. Good overall condition. Not a named make so might have been home made but its strong and tows really well. I have carried Caterhams, MGBs, Morris 8 and a Golf. Has to go as taking up space and very little use this year. Will send more pictures if interested. Overall width 221cm. Overall length 485cm. Bed width 183cm and length 363cm. Looking for £950. Can be viewed at HP8 4JW. Advertised here and on MGOC. Will go on ebay if no response.
  11. Ref U9 catching fire. Thanks for that. Will keep that in mind when charging it. Maybe in a fire bucket!!!
  12. Started my 2.2 Diesel Mondeo a few weeks ago with out any problem.
  13. Hi Terry Presume its gone, if not I will take it. Brian
  14. I have a Floureon Model U9. Its great. Available on ebay for about £36.
  15. Only interested in the roll cage and restraint bar.
  16. Have been thinking of fitting a rollcage. My car is 1997 so imperial chassis. From a google search I see that a metric cage will fit an imperial chassis but not the other way round. So interested. Where are you Mike? If somewhere close to HP84JW would like to come and take a look.
  17. Are the mirrors for screen mounting or door mounting? If screen then I am interested?
  18. Hi. Will take the injectors if still available.
  19. My K series 1.6 runs okay with either 95 or 98, so I save on 95 !
  20. I have put routes into my Garmin Nuvi using Garmin Basecamp which is a free download.

    Avon tyres

Hi. A couple of months ago I changed from 195x45x15R to 195X55X15. I used http://www.willtheyfit.com/ and the new tyres fitted fine.
  22. Do not remember seeing it on the drive when I started the job, but just before refit I noticed it amongst the tools and coolant rail on the floor. Sounds like it might just be coincidence. 7 always parked in that spot though so strange it should be there. All working well without it, After reading several posts on coolant rail leaks I did file the flange flat, and checked for distortion when fitting the front bolt (no washers needed though).
  23. Hi Just changed the gasket on the coolant rail of my 1.6 K series. Was just about to refit the pipe with the new gasket when I found a small ring on the ground near the pipe. Its like a plain wedding band about the same diameter as a one penny piece. No idea where it came from. Now all fitted back without this piece. Anybody done this before and have some idea what it might be?
  24. Now fitted a replacement gauge. All working fine (no bleeding). For anybody thinking of changing from an electric sender to a mechanical gauge its well worth it. With the electric gauge my pressure from cold never went over 4 bat, hot idle was around 1.25 bar and running it was 2.5 bar, occasionally it would drop into the red when hot even at 2000 rpm and over. With the new gauge it is 65 psi cold idle and about 35 psi hot idle. instant movement on the gauge when the revs increase. Now confident that I am actually looking at the oil pressure not an estimation!
