  1. Thanks guys. Parts and glue now on order from East Coast Supplies. Now removed the stays from the wings and the adhesive was partly failed, only two small chrome dome head bolts keeping the wing on! Might have lost that on the way to Le Mans!
  2. Could anybody point me in the right direction for a supplier of bighead fasteners for under the cycle wings? Just having the car vinyl wrapped and need to break the original sealant/glue to get the stays off the wings. Will then refit with bigheads and tyraps.
  3. I use one on an MGB engine and its fine.
  4. Thanks for all the info and messages. Not as easy as I thought it might be, should have known that! Now thinking either upgrade the 1.6 (currently rated at 135) or change the car and buy one with the higher power anyway. Unsure, but an easier decision will be made with all the info you have given.
  5. Well that has given me something to think on! Thanks for all that advise and knowledge. Car mainly used on road. Maybe it would actually be easier to sell mine and buy another with the 160 engine already installed.
  6. Can anybody point me in the right direction for information on what additional item's I will need, other than those from the donor car. Thinking of buying an MG ZR with the 160 Trophy engine, low miles, history and running. Question is what will I need to swap this for my 1.6 K series EU2 engine? Seems a good way of going from 135 to 160!
  7. I cut slots in mine for the tabs. Used a craft hole punch for each end of the slot and then just cut between the holes. Works a treat. Often drive with passenger side cover on as it keeps things from being visible when you stop, i.e. garages etc.
  8. Anybody have a boot bag they are no longer going to use? I need one for some planned trips this year.
  9. Anybody have a boot bag lurking in a cupboard that will not be used this year? I am looking for one.
  10. From my experience you get what you pay for with these. Mine worked once, then six months later would not charge and the light stopped working, useless. My friend but a different make and his never did work. Both of these were less than £60. Maybe twice the price would be safer!
  11. Great, Thanks for that. Old pipe now back on with flange filed flat and washers under the bolts. System bled and all seems to be ok. Will give it a thrash this weekend and see how it copes.
  12. Just removed the water rail from my 1.6 K series due to small seep from around the gasket area. Close inspection with magnifying glass and the welds seem ok. I have noticed on the Caterham spares site that the water rail shown for a 1.6 and 1.8 K series is a different shape and has no sensor provision. Is this a better modified pipe? If so where do the sensors go? Doubt that I will buy one at £114 but just wondered.
  13. Thanks. Now ordered. Of to Spa on Friday and just founds the rail leaking.
  14. Hi. I know there are a lot of posts about the water rail gasket, but where do I get one? Cannot find one anywhere?
  15. I have searched the web and the archive but cannot find a diagram that shows where the PRRT fits in the cooling circuit. Anybody point me in the right direction?
  16. Having just watched the Car SOS episode on the Caterham what is the general view on running Waxoyl along the side chassis tubes so that it runs between the tube and the side skins?
  17. Ok. No thanks all in hand now Jonathan.
  18. Given the K series engine dislike of losing coolant and overheating then having a rubber hose chafing against a metal object does not seem to be ignorable ?
  19. The bobbins seem to be the opposite of "sagged", maybe held up by the bottom hose!
  20. Thanks Ian. I will do the same. Brian
  21. Just sorting a small leak on the radiator fan switch and noticed that the bottom hose sits on top of the chassis. The radiator mounting bobbins are all fine so its not dropped recently, probably been like it since build. The radiator side flanges have four mounting holes each side , and mine is located on the upper holes. Moving it to the lower holes would raise the radiator about 2cm. But then might be to close to the nose cowl. Before I try it could somebody tell me where theirs is mounted. Its a 1997 1.6 K series Roadsport.
  22. Tonneau fitted. Passenger headrest removed. Slots cut in tonneau to close side door and fasteners. Also fitted driver side the same way just in case I want to cover all the interior while parked. Thanks for all advise. Brian
