  1. Thanks. So Hamiltons or Cover systems?
  2. My 7 is going to have to spend some time outside so needs a good outdoor cover. I used to have a Stormforce cover, really good but did not last long. Just tried a cover from Classic Additions but that is not a good fit on the 7. Anybody got a good recommendation ?
  3. Found the date info. In 2013 the MOT test guidance was that for emission purposes a Q plate car should be considered as used before 1st August 1975. For all other testing purposes they are considered to be first used before 1st January 1971. Therefore did not need emission tests and could have black and silver number plates. But has this changed?
  4. Does anybody know of a good link to the new MOT testing with regard to Q Plate cars? Particular query is a 1983 Q plate car with black and silver number plates. I thought I had seen somewhere a note that Q plates were issued by the DVLA for vehicles with some unknown history and that certain dates in the 70s were deemed as being the age of those cars?
  5. This was made a long time ago. The car is wintering in Staffs so not available to measure the plate thickness as I am in Bucks! But from memory it was 4mm. Difficult to bend and 3mm would probably have been just as effective. The black material on the U bolts and front topside of the plate is rubber sheet, about 1cm thick. Just happened to have this in the garage.
  6. Front U bolts fit over the chassis and the rear "wings" are tie wrapped up. Works a treat on my K series.
  7. I have a simple sump guard. Alloy plate rubber mounted to the chassis at the front and just tie wrapped at the back. Would put a picture here but cannot see how to!
  8. Having reread the instruction it says must have a tow hook with a high vis streamer attached to it. So not for towing but for finding the hook. My car is some distance away at the moment , does the front chassis have a tow hook?
  9. Track instructions say all cars must have a high visibility strap on the front ?
  10. Hi. Visiting Brands Hatch next month and need a front tow strap. Looking at the Caterham site they sell a strap for £25.00 but cannot see how it fits? Also seems a lot of money for a short piece of webbing ! Any advice? https://caterhamparts.co.uk/other/5033-tow-strap-race.html
  11. Hi. Will this fit to a 1.6 K series EU2 engine. Can see conversion leads for the 1.8 K series but not the 1.6?
  12. If you are going to the lakes make sure you include Orta San Giulio on Lake Orta. Best of the lot.
  13. I have seen a few like this selling classic cars. I did offer to pay one with my Nigerian inheritance.... did not hear from him/her again!
  14. Replaced mine with mechanical from Merlin Motorsport. Easy change and now reads a sensible pressure as well.
  15. Does not help your problem, but had mine vinyl wrapped in yellow. Its also a good way, and cost effective, of changing wing colour if anybody fancies a change! Studio448 worth a look.
  16. Hi. Can anybody recommend an exhaust wrap? There seem to be hundreds of sellers online, most from China, so no idea which products are good or bad!
  17. Good write up. Cannot find an EU2 MFRU on ebay for a tenner though?
  18. Hi. Need to put in two M4 rivnuts, but have no tool. I can manage with a bolt, nut and washers. But anybody near Amersham have one I could borrow? Could borrow for five minutes and set them outside your place..
  19. Thanks Stephen. Just sorted the problem. Teach me to go to spec savers.... The wheel nuts I found in the garage are M12 1.25 from my sons Nissan. They had 1.25 and 1.5 on the box but also a coloured tell tail to show which was in the box. So I have been trying to fit a 1.25 instead of a 1.5. Thanks for the offer Stephen but I will go for four locking nuts, leaving me with three spares!
  20. Hi Stephen. Where abouts are you? Im Chalfont St Giles and see you go or have been to Penn 7s
  21. Ahh. I was presuming an M12 nut was an M12 nut all with the same thread. Maybe I will order a Caterham one and see if it fits!
  22. Lost a wheel nut. Well not actually lost the nut but the tapered cone that was part of it. Checked the Caterham spares site and it should be an M12. Found some M12 wheel nuts in the garage, but its the wrong thread. Locks up after a couple of turns! Car is 1997 with De-Dion and K Series. Disks all round. Anybody got a clue what wheel nuts i need?
