  1. I've seen a different solution, a single spring loaded fastener at the centre, which is the same as those used at the front of the bonnet. It works well.
  2. I recommend you get the bushes changed by Bilstein. I managed it on a press but only after Bilstein sent me the drawing of the mandrel they use which I made to enable the fitting.
  3. #21 - it's a brave person who argues with the manufacturer's recommendation. Note that they refer to HOT temperatures which is what their operating environment will be on track. I wonder what engineering metric or unit is used to define "hot"? "smiley"
  4. The manufacturer fix is MLS gasket plus 10 new high tensile through bolts plus uprated lower oil rail which sits below the crank. Kit can be found at www.dmgrs.co.uk. I have no connection with them but do have connections with the former Rover engineers
  5. I'm interested and have sent you a PM
  6. My seven is a 1987 Caterham GT with a bonny bulge that tapers to a point. It is not a scoop. If that is what you're looking for then maybe I could digitise it
  7. Many thanks for the link Aerobod.
  8. I also followed Giles' suggestion and found John very helpful. Highly recommended.
  9. 2022 - 2007 = 15 You're 15 ????
  10. David - I could come and look tomorrow if you're around. Brian
  11. Ian - woe betide you if you scratch the polished aluminium!!!
  12. Alan, you're welcome to pop round and make one from mine if you wish
  13. Keith - if Ian doesn't take this unit then I would like to. Thanks - Brian
  14. A simple check for an early dedion bar is whether the main hoop baseplate has a protruding boss or not. My car is an '87 dedion and doesn't have the boss - it's effectively a live axle fitment pattern including the location of the "in boot" rear fixings which are in a "live axle" position. Hope that makes sense. It caught me out when I bought a dedion cage only to discover that I actually needed a live axle cage for my '87 dedion!!
  15. Precision drilling I see .....
  16. Great trackday yesterday and a big thanks to Simon and the organising team. Good decision to remain in groups after lunch. I understand that there were a lot of novices and this was the right decision to help and encourage them to do it again and be "ex-novices"! The weather was super and it would be great if anyone could post photos of the action on here. Well done trackday team
  17. Places were available yesterday
  18. The cage is sound with no damage and it fitted a 1989 de-dion perfectly but may need a re-paint as it's a bit tatty. Note that it is the TALL version which gives extra headroom. £300 - make me an offer. Located in Rugby
  19. #26 - Robert, I had it confirmed last night by the original owner that my car was indeed supplied as a kit despite the chassis number (5LCxxx16RD) not indicating that it was a kit. Maybe chassis numbers that included the K for kit were introduced after my car was built which was early June 1987. It also explains why the V5C has the note"declared new at first registration".which I wouldn't have expected if the car had been factory built. Unfortunately I can't locate original receipts, etc and will have to try Caterham. First call on Friday indicated that they don't have records that far back but I was given contacts of their archivist, Martin Phipps who may be able to help. The engine was indeed at 1600GT but the same engine has been upgraded via cams and airflow and of course the necessary changes to ensure robustness.at greater bmep. So to the bigger picture "Are Ford Crossflow Supersprint spec cars failing HC emissions at MoTs?" Does anyone have any data on this?
  20. #28 - Is it possible to get some evidence from Caterham that they supplied a kit of parts? That would probably help clarify the car status to the MOT tester.
