    ST170 Manifolds

Has anyone any experience of trying to fit ST170 intake and or exhaust manifolds to a Zetec engined seven? I believe the intake manifold is a 2 stage variable unit but the default mode is short runner. The unit looks to be very light if the variable control unit is not used, but I'm not sure if it will fit in the engine bay. In addidtion, the exhaust manifold looks to be a well designed unit but would need modified where the 4 runners join. This looks very straightforward but again I'm not sure if it will fit in the engine bay. Just weighing up options for a new engine installation project. Thanks in advance.
  2. Has anyone had any experience of using an Aldon Amethyst mapped ignition system on a supersprint spec crossflow - ie 1700 with weber twin 40 carbs and TPS?

    Paint Stripper

Has anyone had any experience of using POR15 paint stripper to remove paint from the aluminium panels? Or indeed, has anyone got a good recommendation of a product and / or method to remove paint to the bare aluminium?
  4. First dibs on dampers and springs - just need to check they will fit my car by seperate email. Cheers.
  5. If the lights are still available I'll take them. Cheers

  10. I just repaired my collector and down pipes with a similar piece of kit and it worked a treat. If you're anywhere near Rigby this weekend it will only take 5 minutes to repair.

    Wings Exhaust

Ammo Thanks for the offer, I'll wait a few days to see if anything "pops up" closer to home (Rugby). Meanwhile, I've found a couple os 13" wheel stays. Cheers

    Wings Exhaust

Unfortunately I just had a "big Saloon" side swipe me at a Donington track day yesterday- he actaully protected me from the idiot who hit him and who probably would have T-boned me and I was in the passanger seat! The upshot is that I'm going to experiment and convert from flared to cycle wings, so am looking for used, tatty, or refurbishable cycle wings, brackets and appropriate headlamp brackets. My rear wing appears to be a very light 1987 version and hence looking for a lightweight LHR wing - tatty is ok. Any colour is ok for wings. Crossflow manifold and collector took a bashing also, it may be repairable but looking for these also. First damage in 17 years of track days - I've been lucky so far!
  13. Ian I may be interested - can you send me an email with location as I don't think I'm too far away from you and maybe I could pop over and take a look. Cheers

  15. Does anyone know where the drive-by noise meters are at Bedford GT track or what they look like?
  16. I just checked to see if this could be easily modified and unfortunately it's a considerable change, therefore I withdraw interest. Best of luck.
  17. First dibs please - just need to check if it's possible to "modify" to make them fit my S3 chassis- will email you. Cheers
  18. Just been to visit Andy (what a nice helpful chap) and they do have some tyres that would be fine for trackdays BUT the best time to come is at the end of season and that is what Andy would prefer as they're VERY busy at the moment. Cheers
  19. I'll pop along this afternoon and let you know if its worth a trip. I promise not to take them all. Cheers
  20. Let's give it a go .....drop me the pics and I'll get right back to you. Cheers - Brian
  21. Does anyone have a standard crossflow radiator that I could purchase - seven's just been re-awakened and I just remembered I had a leak at the 'ring some 5 or 6 years ago during its last outing and I want to try and get on track this weekend. "Falling off" on my own coolant would NOT be clever! Here's hoping ........
  22. Just to close the thread - now sorted as follows. The master cylinder looks identical to those from an MGB tandem system or Vauxhall Viva or Firenza EXCEPT that the mounting is 90 degrees out and I cannot confirm the bore. However that wasn't important for me as I only wanted a reservoir. I came across a good video on YouTube on rebuilding a master cylinder which was useful and Dave pointed me in the direction of similar units on LDV vans. The bottom line was that most master cylinder reservoirs of this type and vintage seem to have the ports the same distance apart and I was able to source (actually it was Fiona who found it in a traditional "go and see what you can find" scrap yard armed with a screwdriver) a completely different looking reservoir that had the same port spacing, The complication was that my reservoir had a male and female port (see the You Tube video) and the sorced part from an LDV van had two male ports but this was easily rectified with a good quality drill bit and pillar drill, Now fitted and tested on the road and looking for a track day for final prove - out. Cheers
