My 6th digit is a K too... supplied as a kit to a Caterham dealer who assembled it in 1995
  2. I just replaced it with a more modern system, lazy, but the new ones fitters cut it out. I think the Vecta has a life limit, Gradually it became more random. id still want an imobillser fitted mind, new one just needs the fob on my key ring as the detector is wrapped around the steering column.
  3. I took mine to a place in Elstree for diagnosis. It was replaced by a Capri part as the Caterham number didn't count me up on their files., with some ancillary shifted over in about 10mins. At the same time, do think about adding a cap/cover to the wires to fit into the clip, keeps damp and rain out I've found. Unit Exchange http://Unit Exchange 168 Aycliffe Rd, Borehamwood WD6 4EG 020 8953 9971 https://goo.gl/maps/UcME1tTVP7P2 cost about £80 on exchange I seem to remember. May have been nearer £100
  4. It was pretty hard to screw in... I wrapped cloth round it as it got past 'tight'. havent had it in for long or driven far yet.
  5. I recently got this to replace my Momo silver sphere style metal knob as I have a bit of 'peripheral neuropathy' which gives me pins and needles feeling if I touch metal. It's not an enamel badge, but looks nice enough. http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=391687147619&globalID=EBAY-GB
  6. I have my hi vis vests in a net side pocket, as it's required for continental travel and needs to be accessible from within the vehicle. Thinking back, when I broke down on the M25, at night, I completely forgot about wearing one, I was in an escape lay by on a predominately 4 lane section with no hard shoulder. Thanks for a timely reminder. I have no idea why I shouldn't have thought it would be safer to put it on, even if not required under U.K. law.
  7. Many thanks, sorted. Isn't this club great?!
  8. Thanks for your reply. I'm currently sorting out polishing the screen surround. If I feel putting glass back is beyond me, or if I need new seals and glass I'll contact you again. Cheers.
  9. long cockpit, dedion, imperial, for the smaller original tube style rollover bar. Happy to swap for one that is for Fia thicker tube style or buy outright. The holes on mine fit, but only when someone pointed it out, they don't fit perfectly.
  10. Looking for a pair of chrome wiper arm assemblies.
  11. Removing scuttle isn't hard. Drill out the rivets (circa 22 I seem to recall).... Replace with rivnuts to make future removal easier. Dash, if riveted not glued, again drill out rivets. Slightly harder to get to than scuttle as some are underneath. You probably do not need to remove dash panel though as access is great with scuttle removed. This pic may give some idea.
  12. just done a few searches...but how difficult is windscreen replacement? I've sourced a new, non heated one to replace chipped heated one. Plan is to remove glass, take frame to friendly local polisher to spruce frame up, then replace glass. Is removal of glass easy? (I know frame with glass is a doodle) Is replacement a job I should give to a glacier/ windscreen company for peace of mind?
  13. Yes please if still availiable. Just tried blat ail but it's hanging....
  14. I fitted my armrests yesterday in the sunshine. Very straightforward. Drilled out 3 rivets, cut the rubber seal so lip centre was flush, lightly tapped into place then drilled through plate using the rivet hole as guide, then riveted ( I had black rivets and a manual riveter) .Doors drilled through in seconds, I did enlarge centre hole slightly on one side so rest slipped in easier. Seems simpler to secure than the popper, for quicker getaways. Simple job, under an hour both sides. Seems lovely and secure.
  15. I replaced the plastic straps with leather belting, leaving a long tab to pull on.
  16. Excellent for me too. Just got some rests and fixings as well. Perfect timing!
  17. If you suspect the alternator and it got a recent soaking, do check if you have the wires in a plug enclosure. i suffered alternator failure after a soaking, fixed by buying a plug enclosure for the wire, that use the clip you probably have on the back of the alternator. It's very exposed down there to the elements. My 7 just had wires going straight to alternator with no real protection. Of course, if you have the plug, ignore my suggestion!
  18. Seats are easy to replace yourself. It's a faff to reach the rear bolts, but you'll work it out. I changed my out of date race harnesses to the simpler Caterham ones that do up with just one clip (similar to the inertia reel clip) as I feel they are easier and quicker to do up and more passenger friendly than the more racey type).
  19. Without wanting to sound stupid... How does an inertia switch differentiate between inertia and the car being at an angle on a hill?
  20. Delbert, interested, sent private mail but I think it's down. Not sure if your within sensible driving distance, but if so I'm interested.
  21. Silly question, but as I don't have kids perhaps someone can help...... What age would a young lad be able to cope with the kit, and what sort of age do they grow out if 'Lego'? (Don't say '67'.... What I mean is at what age might a kid along the lines of Kevin and Perry deem it uncool) ta!
