  1. That’s a lovely looking 7 , saw it at Moon and Stars.
  2. Another one here for DIY. the synchrometer is about £38. remove the air filters,(a dab of loctite on the nuts when you re-assemble.) it can be a faff to reach the head of long bolts to rear of filters. plenty of YouTube videos on what to adjust. All done with a screwdriver. good luck!
  3. I have now fitted a micro switch that connects to brake pedal, when pressed it cuts out the beeper speaker. So in traffic, no noise.
  4. Chris Wheeler at the Seven Workshop near Ware ( he’s just fitted a gearbox for me) or Ratrace in Potters Bar. we are lucky to have some great specialists so near.
  5. Being impatient and thinking fault was with the beeper wiring I thought about it a while and fitted a micro switch operated by brake pedal in tandem with brake light switch. This I wired to the buzzer itself. So if I press brake pedal the buzzer is silenced. This might be a simple mod to those with beepers as standard, who either think it’s too loud or annoying at lights.
  6. Everything is as normal. The new beeper module I bought for the indicators has an extra wire, so that if brakes are on it doesn’t beep. This needs to be wired into brake live wire. I tried both sides of the white plunger switch at the pedal, but that didn’t cancel the beeper. I also tried direct to the brake lights at the fuse box.
  7. im trying to find the’switched live’ on brake switch. I’ve put multilingual meter on the switch by the pedal but can’t find a switched live. 1995 Crossflow.... any clues?
  8. Heading towards Potter Bar. Loving looking7. i was in Red Fiat 500, you probably thought I was mad to flash.
  9. I had intermittent alternator probs early on in Crossflow ownership. Rain exacerbated it. Do your wires go into a plug, or are the wires more exposed on the terminals? I found wiring the plug for the the 3 wires, then plugging it in with the wire clip to hold it firm protected the area more from the wet. It’s exposed down there!
  10. My car didn’t have a buzzer but I fitted a kit that delay buzzer till about 20 flashes, adjustable. ive just seen they have updated it so it only sounds when brake light is off, which seems like a good idea. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F251337237605
  11. Just tried Harpic on my Raceco titanium. Got rid of tar marks with a loo brush a treat.
  12. Deffo been done. I picked up a now refurbed 4 Speed off a chap who was fitting a five. He showed me where the chsssis had been modded and talked about the tunnel? i can reccomend BGH Gearttech for any type 9 issues, gearbox gurus.http://www.bghgeartech.co.uk they refurbed my four speed.
  13. Have you checked cable is routed through the clip beneath the spring. You mention return spring.... mine use two?
  14. I added the Caterham insulating sheets, adapted to fit my older 7. I wrapped the exhaust with tape. Both seemed to help a little. I also fitted a cutoff to the heater matrix (which some modern Caterhams have as standard), my thinking being to prevent a large heater full of hot water sitting above my legs. Best mod I’ve seen, and I will do one day, was to fit a pipe to the footwell with a sink plug operated by foot to get air flowing down there.
  15. I’ve re-drilled the entry point lower than standard after a few failures, to create a smoother straighter path. Plugged old hole. I also hung the cable and outer vertically overnight with 3in1 oil dribbled in with a plastic bag/rubber band funnel. I drilled the pedal through, so that I could just thread a cable through and screw choc it. ive since started using one of these, threads over the pedal, to my mind it’s easier on the cable and easy to re-rig if it breaks again.
  16. Saw this on YouTube and was intrigued. Is it an available product or something to make yerself?
  17. No shame in doing it. (Or rather I take solace that others have done the same thing) I put petrol into a diesel van, but only a few litres. Luckily cured by filling with diesel. Signage could be better and use of colours on hoses etc.Even separation of hoses in holsters, I find myself looking to see if pump handles have inadvertently been swapped into holders. One tip. Always grab the receipt and stuff in a pocket. That way you can always check what fuel you bought and where/when if you run in to trouble. I was sure I couldn't have mis-fuelled, but a quick check meant easy diagnosis of the problem.
  18. Just saw you as I exited roundabout towards Abridge near the Shell garage. lovely day for it!
  19. Totally agree. I tried stick on discs but too small for near side imho. ive bought convex glass mirrors designed for a scooter. But these are fixed to screen stanchion not as replacements for door fitted mirrors
  20. spotted in convoy this sunny afternoon. Didn’t wave as I didn’t want to worry you... Looked fab in the sun, making progress clockwise.
  21. I’ve often wondered if foreigners do it for over here?
  22. Yes. And not too difficult to adjust for passengers of different sizes. The buckle is similar to inertia buckles so less confusing. Not sure on track day compliance though.
  23. Have you considered the less sporty harness type? I replaced the rather old tatty harnesses in my 7 with simpler, single buckle harness. Certainly quicker in the petrol station pit stop. And passengers find it much easier than the sporty buckle type. Just one simple buckle to do up each time. On a 21 or less ‘racey’ 7 I reckon they are ideal. https://caterhamparts.co.uk/seatbelts-harnesses/1388-seatbelt-4-point-harness-black.html?search_query=Seatbelts&results=28
  24. Recently added a Nokia 101 phone with breakdown numbers and loved ones put in contacts. And then wrote it’s number on the front so when breakdown ask for number I can say it! 30 day standby, long long talk time. Charges from USB. Saves battery angst on the smart phone. Cheap (about £15) and extremely light. I tend to like to be over prepared kit wise, but this is something I’ve added after I found my phone struggles over a days hard use.
  25. I find it really useful to have a dash light that comes on when either my fan override switch is activated, or when the fan comes on normally. It helps me keep tabs that it’s coming on in traffic and off again when moving for a while. If your using a spare rocker switch or space, I wonder if that can be wired using a lighted switch, which would normally be lit when headlights are on? My light is a yellow light between the main gauges.
