  1. Wakefield. That's almost oop north. Who ever it was get their number and let me know their 20. Andy Lardy Aztec Orange n Black
  2. Dave, I did the bench test , at least you have an idea of the force it will take first hand and it is strong stuff. I went for 221 just because I use it in industrial applications in some very harsh environments with constant vibration and regular temperature fluctuations. I also read somewher that it has good resistance to salt but can't think where Just checked out the 227 datasheet for comparison 221 227 TACK TIME 60min 40min TENSILE STRENGTH 260psi 245psi ELONGATION 500% 600% TEAR PROPOGATION 34pli 34pli If you have 600% elongation you'd have time to catch the wing as it went past. As they say the choice is yours. All opinions expressed in ................................. 😶‍🌫️ Andy Lardy Aztec Orange n Black

  5. Hi Jez, its started then! Can't remember how many times I said to myself that's never going to go in there.... then it does. Bl%%dy frustrating though. Check there's no ridge along the internal length of the spacer. Mines an SV but I had a similar issue. I also ended up with the nut resting on the bodywork, didn't think it was right at the time but you get used to the unexpected. here the Light stays were the challenge that followed that one here Have fun and stick with it. Hi Jay, a bit late but congrats on the start up, not too technical (if it goes that is) but a great feeling of achievement. How far are you off completion? Z3 - early days and all the fun to come. Almost wish I could build mine again! Phil hope you come back and let us know how you get on, probably something simple I hope. I know how frustrating it can be Andy PLOD's been, waiting for DVLA again!!
  7. Bellissimmo / Steve just thought I would drop a line to say I'm glad all came well with the new Diff. I'm like a lot of others I guess, unless we share what things are like we will never know what they should be like Andy Bravo.... BlatChat 😬 PLOD's been, waiting for DVLA again!!
  8. Heading south toward Caterham? Just caught a glimpse of the car and driver with white helmet. PLOD's been, waiting for DVLA again!!
  9. Hi, who received their kits when? Just trying to work out how wide spread the problem might be. I won't have much warranty left when I get to drive it so it would be good to know if I have to do a lot of miles quickly 😬 to find out. Andy PLOD's been, waiting for DVLA again!!
  10. Hi Phil, unless I missed it no one above mentioned that you will need more than 5 litres to cover the fuel pick up. Heard a fair few people think there was something wrong with the car when all it needed was more fuel. Andy Waiting for PLOD??
  11. Percevere with it, when I ever got to this point and there were plenty of times, just walk away. I thought several times 'that's never going to go in there' and after a break I usually come back with a slightly different method that works. From what I remember put a big taper on the end of the thread to get a good lead, check first but there's a fair bit of length on the bolt so you will still have the full length of the nylock in contact. Nothing took more than a 'tap to fit'... eventually Andy edited:less is more Waiting for PLOD?? Edited by - adcatman on 2 Oct 2008 19:47:42
  12. Yep thats the one is right up against the body. Great fun aint it. Always remember to read the manual again and again. I tended to go so far with the book then try and use logic. Alaways read into the manual more than the way you think its directing you, most of the time it gives you the answer you are looking for. my build manual here Regards Andy edited cos I can't spell (still) Doing as little as possible in the Czech Republic Edited by - adcatman on 28 Sep 2008 23:11:19
  13. Hi Jay, Wellcome to the fold, loony's almost anonymous. 😬 I go with nigel on the electric cable sleeves and you look right with the washers as per the last build manual that I saw, I'm still finalising an SV and I came a cropper by following the manual I had delivered with the car so my only advice is always go by downloadable one on CC's Site. It made a difference to me so it may be worth a look for recent updates. You racing next year? If so be sure of someone to cheer you on! Good luck with the build, if Sean is still involved he will always help you out or point you to someone who can. Best Regards Andy Doing as little as possible in the Czech Republic
  14. Highjacked the thread a bit ...again.... I'll let go now that I've decided to test the testers. The wings don't fall into either category below. "not firmly or reliably placed or fastened" "Not firm or fixed; unsteady" We will see, and just to clarify it I'll post and give the result in Will he? Won't he? next weekend. 15. Jason, no explanation, just won't pass like that, he said it won't be classed as secure. I put 2 x 5mm wide tie wraps on each fastener, 4 fasteners per wing hereand and I reckon you could pull the car along with them. I know there is always plenty of debate about using these things but it was my preferred option. I've contacted a good friend of mine and it seems there may be some differences between test centre interpretation. But Beverley who knows?? Andy Still se7ening in the garage
  16. I fitted my wings with Big Head fasteners and Sika but went for my PBC this week and they tell me it won't pass like that! Bu$$er. It looks like a good solution , I use the stuff at work and our product goes in some harsh environments and it holds up well. Its just a matter of good prep work. SVA next Friday and not sure what to do, anyone any experience at Beverley SVA office. Andy Still se7ening in the garage
  17. 3 litres of Sloe Gin ready to start on from Bonfire night, hangs to the side of the glass like purple wax....should last until 10th Nov at least! Spotted some Damsons on a walk last week, makes exulent plonk... hic. Still se7ening in the garage
  18. Looks like a different unit see here My prop had a 'sticker' on it telling me to pack with grease, if it fell off then Comma do a CV Lith-Moly grease for a reasonable price at Wilko's(if you have them in Surrey) or you can pay full pops at Halfrauds. Andy Still se7ening in the garage
  19. Hi Vip, I received my kit about the same time you did and don't remember seeing another filler hole before I fitted it into the car but I guess we have the same unit? My first drive... involved out of the drive turn round and back in again and it droned seriously in reverse, sounded like a moggy minor, thought it was quaint? I used the Caterham lubes for the first fill just to keep the warranty man happy. Going for PBC 01st Sept, I will ask them to take it up and down their drive and see what sort of noise it makes. Hope its resolved. Regards Andy Still se7ening in the garage
  20. Miles bad luck on the result but looks like the chaps were a decent bunch! I've got mine booked into Beverley, requested date 10th September. Anyone had any experience with my 'friendly' SVA inspectors. Already got my first problem though, the engine number doesn't match the CC documents, 🙆🏻 so pictures of said engine number not going to Swansea. Going to sort it at PBC, not easy to stamp over though, very little room to swing a hammer! All the best with the retest. Andy Still se7ening in the garage
  21. We used to call them stud extractors, you just drill a smallish hole which should already be there, then gently tap the extractor into the hole and reverse the offending article out. IMHE use the square variety not the helical type as the latter puts force outwards as you try to extract 😬 Still se7ening in the garage Edited:- for Spelink mistake Edited by - adcatman on 1 Aug 2008 22:21:05
