BBL
Now considering adding the blue and white "Caterham Cars; Caterham, England" badge to my car, mostly in an attempt to curtail some of the "what is it?" questions. I believe this badge should traditionally be affixed on the off-side wing, but am seeking advice on a more specific location, please. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted January 16, 2014 Leadership Team Share Posted January 16, 2014 How about the left side of the rear panel where the other style badges have been? Stu.
Dr Slotter
In Chris Rees' "The Magnificent 7'' there is a photo of an early Caterham branded TwinCam and you can see the badge you have posted. It is positioned a couple inches underneath the nearside rear light cluster with the left-hand edge slightly to the right of the cluster.
Piers Rendell
I just looked at some old photos of my 1985 Super Sprint and the Caterham badge was on the off side rear wheel arch, centralised under the rear light cluster and above the reversing light. John Vine
Here's another pic from Chris Rees' book. This one is the 7 GTS, and shows clearly the badge position (on the left). JV PS: When you say off-side, I take it you mean the Californian variety? 😬
Lotus Boy
On my car it is positioned underneath the windscreen stanchion as can be seen here: http://farm5.staticflickr.com/4149/4972379800_36746e8e40.jpg GNMB105 by snapper seven, on Flickr Cheers David
BBL
Quoting John Vine: When you say off-side, I take it you mean the Californian variety? 😬 Specifically used that term because it applies universally, as I understand it. Near-side would be the curb side and off-side would be toward the middle of the road. I think I'll put it on the left-hand side wing (driver's side for my LHD car), below and center-aligned w/ light cluster as advised. I have no fog light fitted, and both fuel filler and reverse light are located on the right-hand side, so I think it will look better on the left. Rear of car as it looks now: http://i321.photobucket.com/albums/nn384/BBL-Sean/Blats/2013-04-13_BigSurBlat2_zpsf18a0bc4.jpg Thanks all for the replies and photos. edit -- Piers: Thanks! Will reply soon, but no access to e-mail at the moment. Edited by - BBL on 16 Jan 2014 23:32:
myothercarsa2cv
Personally, I wouldn't put it on as it looks so clean as it is, but if I had to, I'd put it on the rear basket, in line with the centre of the fuel filler and as far in from the side. P.s. Do you not need fog lights in CA? Edited by - myothercarsa2cv on 17 Jan 2014 10:43:
John Vine
Quoting BBL: Near-side would be the curb side and off-side would be toward the middle of the road. But that was my point. In the photo, the badge is on the left-hand wing (viewed from the rear). That would be your off-side, but my (UK) near-side. JV
BBL
Quoting myothercarsa2cv: P.s. Do you not need fog lights in CA? No fog light required here, but reverse light is required. I just realized that, even after thinking about it in advance, I still cocked up the near-side/off-side distinction in the first post. Yes John, I was thinking LHD off-side, but typed it as RHD off-side. Thanks all for pointing out the proper traditional location. It's just so hard to add unnecessary weight!
