  1. Terry - I have sent you an email. regards Piers
  2. Chris - I had a similar problem of petrol vapor when filling up, but the rubber gasket for the sender was the issue. It seems that lead free petrol has a bad effect on the rubber, which causes it to harden and crack. It is worth having a gasket as a spare in your garage and replacing it every two years or so. My gasket was falling to bits when I replaced it. Piers R300KWK
  3. Memory has returned and the third 7 was White, with a black stripe. Piers R300KWK
  4. A yellow 7 on the A24 at 3:30 near Horsham. I also saw a grey/black 7 on the M23 and one other which I can't remember what colour it was - old age. So three 7's seen from Selsey to Canterbury this afternoon. A nice day for it. Piers R300KWK
  5. I must have been in the same jam on the M40 yesterday, caused by a truck breaking down by J9. It held me up for about an hour on my run home from Oldbury to Canterbury. However, no sign of that 7. It won't be as clean as it shows on PH, as it was chucking it down some of the time. Piers R300KWK
  6. On Monday about 4:00 pm, soon after John Surtees had run his F1 cars down Edenbridge High Street, once the road opened, a yellow 7 with 2 up drove past in the rain. We had been watching the Fun Day parade. Piers R300KWK
  7. By analyising the oil , you will see increases in bearing materials and other wear metals. Piers R30oKWK
  8. Hi Richard Do you have any left for a 2004 R300 S3 ? Thanks Piers R300KWK
  9. Gary - I thought we were going to see you at Leeds Castle on Sunday. Piers R300KWK
  10. Hello Pete and Mo - trust you are well Regards Piers
  11. Well you were right Paul about the TV. So now your are "As featured on TV", do we have to bow ? regards Piers
  12. Today, looked blue or dark green with black nose band just north of the A27. Only a glance as you passed in the shade just before a roundabout. Piers R300KWK
  13. What looked like an all Orange Super Sport with Aero on the M6 north bound at 5:15 pm and seen as you pasted Corley, heading north. Crash hat on. I was southbound on the way back home to Canterbury from Scotland - 10 hrs. Looked very nice. The only 7 spotted on a 1100 mile round trip. Piers R300KWK
  14. Hi Andrew, That car (GN05KMZ) which is an R300 SV, was parked next to mine at the IOW Blat and I have a photo, but no idea how to put it on here. Piers R300KWK
  15. I agree with Andrew - JW is a top class engineer and can undertake anything on a 7. Piers R300KWK
  16. I think these sensors are now made in China and build quality may be an issue. My company sell Oil and Water temp sensors for industial diesel engines and we tried some Chinese made units and tested them in our engine test bed. Most failed within 2 hours, so we gave up and stayed with VDO. Piers
  17. I had this LED illuminate on my 2004 R300, when starting it a few days after a very very wet drive back from Brands Hatch last year. It was such heavy rain that I put put the roof up for the first time. The LED was glowing rather than bright and as I had never seen it illuminated before, I had some concern and there was nothing in the manual. I asked the same question as you and it turns out to be a shift light. Someone else had the same problem when their ECU got soaked, but it all cleared after fully drying out. Piers R300KWK
  18. My company used to distribute spark plugs. We had problems with copies from China, so if the plug is cheap, there may be a reason. Buy from a reputable supplier. Piers
  19. A White Academy Car on the WB Power stand at the Data Centre Exhibition, at the ExCeL Centre in London, yesterday and today. The owner, uses it for track days and is not a club member. They said a number of Caterham owners had been on the stand. Piers
  20. If you have an LSD, don't under any circumstances allow them to put it on the rolling brake tester. It will damage the limited slip differential. Any MoT Tester that knows his stuff will know this and have his old fashioned brake tester to hand. Piers
  21. Well, there was rather a lot of gravel under the passenger seat, as well as between the alloy skin and the lower chassis rail, by the engine mounting and under the exhaust pipes, where they exit to the outside. I have cleaned it all out and the rattle seems to have gone - horray. This gravel came for the trip back from Leybourne Castle in June 13, following Paul Head, we had the misfortune to go through some re-tarmacing and both cars got covered in gravel, both inside and out. I though I had cleaned it all out, but not so. I gave the exhaust a good check over but can see no cracks and checked the silencer. I also checked the spark plug cover and that was all tight. I still think the silencer may need re-packing, as the Caterham kit I used last year has no doubt be blow out. I think the is a company in Ashford who make silencers who could do it for me. Ian - sorry I don't know who this guy is - is he the racer who killed a cyclist while on the phone ? Ian B - The lack of hearing. plus the use of ear plugs in means I don't hear all the squeeks, rattles and thumps and it is probably a good thing. Doing 15 miles or so yesterday, with the hearing aids in was awful and the rattle worrying. Thanks all for suggestions Piers R300KWK
  22. I have found rather a lot of gravel under the passenger seat that rattle when you thump it from below. The hoover can't reach there, so seats out and the I'll check the exhaust system. Thanks for info. Piers
  23. Mike - if the battery is registering less that 2 V after charging on the terminals when you should have 13.2V, it must have an internal short. I would bin it and put in a new one. Regards Piers
