Quoting Eugene:
My near-side one got flagged in its MOT the other day - hence this thread...

It has done about 15K I guess...

Seems about fair. Mine just died; from some educated guesswork I'm pretty sure it is about 15,000 miles since the previous front suspension fettle (done by the previous owner hence the vaguery). We do use our Seven all year though - less in the winter of course, but still a little when the weather is OK.

Next question...

Caterham list two different circlips for spherical joints...

and

I'm checking with the supplier which they recommend/use, but what are people's thoughts on what is correct?

The coiled one is what is fitted on mine. It would probably be easier to replace the whole wishbone than try to get that thing out! Coming up to 15K... *eek*

I'm interested in a pair of both bearings and the circlips with eyelets. Looking at the numbers, do you think the price could go down some more? That will make me happy 😬

I've spoken to Uncle Albert, The 7 Workshop, and he recommends the circular 'spring' type circlips...

(but he says either will work!)

I have asked the supplier if that is what they supply... will report back.

15,000 miles, are they not made as well as before?

I bought my 7 at 17K miles and upgraded to wide track at 59K, bearings were still good. I now have wide-track and bearing have done 23K.....

I'll obviously check and may invest in a pair as spares. Although I haven't searched I don't recall this being an issue over the 14 years I've been a member........

Hi Chris,

Fairly easy to change (I managed it so it must be!). Some people report that they are siezed in so maybe worth giving a good dose of Plus Gas or similar over a few days before attempting replacement.

Regards Paul.
