Mavic82
Decided my car needs a more modern facelift which will include a change from my beloved HPC wheels to something more modern. Also going to fit a carbon dash but which one? The caterham one is far over priced and seems rather thin but does look good. With the changing pool of carbon suppliers which companies would you recommend? Looking for one all cut out not a blank. Opinions? paul cardy
Hi I bought a dash blank which has the rolled under lip and the side extensions from Carbon Mods, just looked on their web site but its not listed but be worth a call. The quality is excellent and the price sealed the deal ;) Regards Paul
BBL
No first-hand experience, but I have only ever heard good things about cf parts from Ultimate Carbon. The dash shown on their page is pre-cut and also priced at £165.

UremaW
I've recently purchased a set of front wings from Ultimate Carbon, and while the quality won't be keeping Horatio Pagani up at night, it's still excellent for the money.
Mavic82
Thanks guys, that gives me a good start. So MOG looks nice but nearly th price of a caterham one once you add the cut outs. Carbon mods say they dont currently make one. I am waiting to hear back from ultimate carbon, what finish is it? Shiny like Caterhams or natural carbon? The Pikey
I think the CC one is the best. It's produced by Tillett in a two part mould for them and it's really thin and lightweight. Also the holes are cut for whatever standard switch gear and clocks you are using.
James.S
CC's is the dearest but also the best I have seen.
raw
How was the Canada trip, Guy? It seems to have provoked a severe case of upgradeits...! First the HPC wheels, now a carbon dash! BTW the carbon dash on my car is CC but it was fitted from new. Andrew PS just come over the Col Tourmalet in the tintop, pity not in the Se7en
Mavic82
Thanks guys, the issue with the caterham dash is the thickness, it is so thin and flexible. Hi Andrew, hope your both having a good time, scope out some good blat routes. Rgds Guy
Area Representative bluenose Posted September 1, 2013 Area Representative Share Posted September 1, 2013 It is not an issue, it is Sikoflexed on to the bars and is not flexible . The hole point of carbon is it is thin but strong and lightweight. Nick
combine
Have been thinking on similar lines about changing my old dash for something more up to date ( modern ? ) , are there any pics of these dashes ?
Mavic82
@bluenose Yes I know it should be thin and light, but IMO they are to flexible. When you push a rocker swithc the whole dash flexes in. Carbon should be stiff and light, the Caterham part seems to have forgotten the stiff bit. Combine, pics of the dash's are on the respective web sites. Just waiting some info back from Ultimate carbon. Cheers Guy

Area Representative bluenose Posted September 2, 2013 Area Representative Share Posted September 2, 2013 Sorry but when you said carbon I thought you were talking about proper prepreg not the stuff Tillet make for Caterham. It seems to be getting harder to source good prepreg parts now, not sure why? Nick
James.S
I thought CC's stuff was prepreg and MOG's was wet lay.
Labergorce
Guy, did you ever make any decisions on which carbon dash to go for? and get one? i'm just thinking about the same - switching to a carbon dash and wondered what your conclusions were. cheers Mark
Mavic82
Oddly it arrived yesterday. I was going to go with Ultimate carbon but finally went for a CC one. The MOG ones were around the same price all in, cut and delivered.
Labergorce
excellent, thanks. I was thinking the same, from the comments here and looking at the two the CC one seems the better.
Mavic82
I would act quickly, it has been out of stock for ages on the web site. So phoned the parts dept and placed the order. I was informed they were out of stock, ETA was the 18th April and that 5 were on order from the supplier, 3 of which were already committed. Well OK at least I know how long it will take...... It arrived next day
