The Pikey
Just looking at the Caterham 40th anniversary edition and it looks like the shift pattern is not the same as the type 9 gearboxes. It has reverse below 5th instead of left and up. Anyone know what box is being used? here Jason
Stationary M25 Traveller
Struggling to remember if that is the arrangment I had on several Mk 3 and 4 Ford Escorts ?
The Pikey
Might be but I'm thinking if they have changed what box they use then it would be for something more modern and readily available. J
The Pikey
Looks like the MX5 had a shift pattern like it on their 5 speed boxes. J

Cannonball Bob
LR Defender's have reverse at the bottom right. Probably a bit big'n'heavy though. ☹️

rj
Hmmm Doesn't the MX5 come with a dual clutch gearbox?

Grubbster
Probably a Type-9 but with a mis-print on the gear knob 😬
Klunk
The Ford MT75 box (sierra dohc/cosworth) is that pattern and the Mitchell Cotts version would allow for any bellhousing. I believe that's Westfield as well... Have we missed something 😬 The MX5 would be the logical choice. They do a 5 and a 6 speed box as well. http://i165.photobucket.com/albums/u42/mx5racing/gbox003.jpg
The Pikey
I don't think the MT75 goes up a Caterham Tunnel. I also doubt the 6 spd Mazda gearbox would either :-(

Klunk
I'm sure you're right Jason - ridiculous 1st gear as well with no affordable aftermarket gearset options either.

Croc
Quoting myothercarsa2cv: Still waiting for a dog leg gearbox... Oh no you don't. Blasted things. First time I had one in a touring car race, I went backwards off the start line. Don't know how I did not hit someone behind me 😳
myothercarsa2cv
I guess it doesn't matter what pattern the box is, there's always one Dog legs are so much better, the number of times people change from 1-2 is minimal compared to 2-3. No idea why it isn't more common.
Martin J
Well, if it's good enough to be used in the new Morgan three wheeler. Does it have an aluminium casing as that will save some weight?
