Area Representative paul richards Posted May 23, 2011 Area Representative Share Posted May 23, 2011 Quick Release, but consider saving some money by getting non Caterham branded items. For Example Edited to say that I have found the Caterham quick release harnesses to be very stiff and difficult to adjust. davedlr
If you can live without it saying Caterham, as above, Willans and Sabelt make harness' where the lap adjustment is from the buckle end rather than the mounted end, which is easier to adjust when you are sat in the car. Or is that just me? as my ample width fills the cockpit
Member Jonathan Kay Posted May 23, 2011 Member Share Posted May 23, 2011 You could look at Titon harnesses: http://www.primamotorsport.com/ They make them either handed and to tighten either way. Jonathan
CageyH
I have the Road harnesses as the quick release are not legal in France. I wish I had my old quick release ones, as they are a pain to get into, and you almost have to adjust them everytime, to ensure they are fitted correctly. Grubbster
I recently swapped to the Titon harness from 7tips, a lot cheaper than CC, the QR buckle is smaller, and the belts very comfortable here Edit to add - they don't come with fixing bolts though so you'd need to source these, they do have the stepped spacers. michaeljclark
I "upgraded" (read replaced) the 4 pt std Road harness to the 4pt Quick Release system. So much better. Now I need to get the passenger side done so that they match. Edited by - michaeljclark on 23 Jul 2011 21:34:
MBB
Considering previous threads on the danger of submarining with 4 point harnesses anyone have an opinion on these?

michaeljclark
They look good! Did they come with the "Flexi Lap belts" and if so what are they like? Mike
Dignity
Mark, They do look good, especially on a yellow car Am I right in thinking that they are £310+vat for the pair? Regards Colin
jimmyslr
Personally, I would always get a 6 point harness. If you really don't want to you needn't use the crutch straps, but I tend to and don't find it uncomfortable. It really holds you into the seat well. Admittedly I race and track a lot, but I had the same when I was mostly on the road. I have a Scrhoth Hans specific 6 pointer that one of the dealers does for the Caterham (ie it has the right lengths and mountings on it. Not cheap, but very good. elie boone
If you want you can have any sort of 4 or 6 point, even make a combination of touring car harness and specific caterham harness. I know from experience that Luke is very flexible in this and so are there dealers
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted July 30, 2011 Area Representative Share Posted July 30, 2011 Firstly of course, it makes no difference as they are shown as out of stock for both! Quick release for certain, from those choices. As I am waiting to replace the harnesses on GJT I'll look through the alternatives.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted July 30, 2011 Area Representative Share Posted July 30, 2011 Quoting davedlr: If you can live without it saying Caterham, as above, Willans and Sabelt make harness' where the lap adjustment is from the buckle end rather than the mounted end, which is easier to adjust when you are sat in the car. I remember asking about this - it appears so obvious that the adjustment should be easy to do once seated in the car and the Caterham ones adjust somewhere utterly inaccesible behind the tillet (or S-type). I thought that the adjustment should be on the bit which plus into the buckle - this would reduce the irnmongery. I don't want hard metal bits resting on my iliac crests. I was told that having the adjustment on the buckle was not FIA compliant.
GregP
I've just bought a Titon harness from Prima motorsport and you can specify the adjuster at the buckle end if you wish and it is fully FIA compliant.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted July 31, 2011 Area Representative Share Posted July 31, 2011 I'll contact them. With a bit of good fortune I can replace and improve at the same time. I do like the buckles which are used for the Caterham harnesses and would want the all belts into a single point style.
