  1. I was going down the hill (in the Mustang) as you were going up the hill
  2. Yep, off to Brands - was a lovely day for it
  3. HI Col That is a good question, I thought it was a Monsoon, but looking at the email I got when I placed the order, it's just labeled as "Stormforce". I'll see if I can adjust the thread title! Thanks Mike
  4. Following a garage clearout (and change of car), I've got 2 sets (which will cover 4 tyres) of Weissenfels "WeissSock" TG85 "Snow Socks" These snow socks are brand new and unopened and will fit (according to the label) the following tyres: 195 R14 195/80 R14 225/70 R14 205/70 R15 235/60 R15 175/75 R16 215/60 R16 220/60 R16 235/55 R16 215/55 R17 235/50 R17 255/45 R17 235/45 R18 255/40 R18 225/40 R19 255/35 R19£50 ovno, can be collected from Paddock Wood, North Kent/East Sussex/Kentish Weald meet or from my office just behind the Guildhall in the City of London (EC2V 5HA) Mike
  5. Having a garage clear out and I've got an "Stormforce" cover for an SV It's about 6 years old, has had 1 years use and then following the house move, has lived in it's storage bag in my garage for the last 5 years. It's got a few wear marks following a storm that we had, shortly after I got it, but IIRC it's still waterproof £30, can be collected from Paddock Wood, North Kent/East Sussex/Kentish Weald meet or from my office just behind the Guildhall in the City of London (EC2V 5HA) Mike Edited as Col pointed out an issue with the name
  6. Having a garage clearout, and I have an "Ebony" (it's official colour), Tonneau Cover from a MK2 Ford Galaxy, that will also fit a MK1 S-Max (and cover the small gab between the 2nd row of seats that the normal S-Max Tonneau leaves) £30 and available for collection from Paddock Wood, or a North Kent/East Sussex/Kentish Weald meeting Mike
  7. Thanks everyone! I have to say that the drive to the MOT station reminded me just hom much fun a 7 is Jonathan - yes all healed!
  8. Back in April 2015, I had my 7 serviced & MOT'd by the jolly helpful folks at BOSS Racing, and I had full intention of doing some blatting. About 2 weeks later in May I fell over and subsequently discovered that I'd fractured both ankles. So no sevening for me as it it was just too painful to get in and out of for 6 months. I've just had the 7 MOT'd again. In 1 year, it's done the grand total of: 1 tank of Super Unleaded and 205 miles So I wonder to myself - do I get it serviced and have the oil changed, or shall I give it the once over myself with some spanners. I don't mind spending the money but an oil change seems like a bit of a waste after only 205 miles, I've checked the dipstick, the oil level is fine and is still a lovely golden colour. The collective Wisdom of BlatChat is appreciated. Mike
  9. Spotted today @ 12:30. SWMBO and I weren't quite quick enough to get you before you moved off. You looked well wrapped up! Mike
  10. I'm measuring the same parallel line as you, 368mm sounds better. Thanks for the help Mike
  11. Thanks Ian, Smoothrite was my 1st thought, can't make it any worse...... Jonathan, I'm happy with brightness as they have some Night Breakers (or similar) on board. I'm trying to spruce the 7 up a little : Nose cone mesh and 7 need doing, so do all 4 wheels (the powercoat is coming off) as well as the headlights and the Carbon "bling" is not as "bling" as it could be. Mike
  12. Thank you The bad new is that the Standard roll bar on my 2007 SV, is 375 tall, so is actually shorter than the FIA one
  13. The surface coating of my headlights is flaking away leaving a black headlight with dark grey patches and they are looking sorry for them selves. I'm rather hoping that they could perhaps be repainted or (as the SVC site suggests that they are power coated in Satin Black), re power coat them? I could also replace them, but CC are having a laugh if they think I'm paying £115 for one, when SVC can supply 2 with the correct harness for the same price. Or maybe someone has a pair of 5 3/4" head lights that have been removed from their 7, that are cluttering up the garage? Mike
  14. Inspired by the Track Day thread, could I ask a favour please? Is there a kind soul with a Metric Chassis SV, equipped with an FIA Roll Bar (and if such a thing exists for an SV a "tall" FIA bar, who next time he/she is in their 7's lair, could find out how tall vertically the roll bar is from where it meets the chassis to the top of the bar (as I've attempted to show what I mean on a picture I found that Grubbster took of his Academy build showing an FIA bar) I'm interested to know if the thicker tubing results in a taller bar that the standard one, and currently size matters and might save me some cash on a custom one. Thanks Mike
  15. I thought your fellow engineer was going get you to give me a call. When I've sorted some bits out in the next few weeks, I'll give you a shout! Mike
  16. Yep, suffered this on the IOM. Martin, the sender will (if CC haven't changed it) light up (at the back where the cable exits) as the teeth on the ring pass past, my new one seemed to be quite relaxed on the position (ie it worked with up to 4mm gap) I'm on call this weekend and am picking up the new Motor on Saturday, but if you want to come past on Sunday, we can take the sensor off mine and test if you like? I'm also 1/2 days most of next week, so can do then too. I had a tidying session in the "Mancave" aka Garage up, so we can work in releatve comfort with both 7's under cover!! Mike
  17. As the S-Max is about to be swapped in for a newer motor, I have some stuff the dealer doesn't want as it's not standard! £70 Black/Ebony Ford Galaxy Tonneau Cover – A good upgrade fromt the S-Max's bigger brother, that fits in the S-Max and has the extra little cover between the back of the Tonneau and the seats. £30 OE Sunshades Window shades for the rear passenger compartment – I used them to increase the “blacked out effect” and provide extra security in the back of the car, ideal if you carry an expensive stuff as once the shades are in, you can’t see through the windows. If you have little people you can also open the windows with the shades in and they'll still be protected as you go. Comprrises of Rear Windows, Rear Quarter Lights and Back Window. Some of the mesh is damaged in the rear quarter light ones (where the 3rd row of seats would be), but not enough to worry about. Takes about 5 mins to fit Ideally I’d prefer collection from Paddock Wood (Kent) or from the City of London (Moorgate) or North Kent/East Sussex/Kentish Weald meets as the Tonneau is an unwieldy beast!!! Mike
  18. You followed us and then, we followed you from Hawkhurst all the way to Paddock Wood Mike & Kirsty
  19. So I'm glad that this has come up as I was going to ask the same question. So with the info gleaned for above. The new Jag XF Sportbrake I've got on order has the following spec: Kerb Weight: 1880Kg Gross Weight: 2440Kg Braked Trailer:1850Kg Unbraked: 750Kg (I'm assuming that wih an SV+fluids coming in @ 600KG that an unbraked trailer is out of the question weight wise) My license has a "B" entitlement Quoting DVLA: So am I right in thinking that in order to tow my SV, I'm going to need to beg/borrow: A braked trailer capable of carrying the SV that has a plate rating of no more than 1850Kg (as per the XF Spec) The weight of the trailer and the SV must not weigh more that 1850Kg. The car+passengers+cargo AND trailer+SV needs to come in under 3500Kg. Thanks Mike
  20. I know you said you can see oil pressure registering, but when you put the key to position 2 in the ignition, do the needles on the speedo and Rev gauge "do a little dance"? I ask as: Whilst on the Isle of Man 2013 tour I suffered a breakdown where by the engine just stopped and would not restart. Whilst a lot of fellow 7 people had the bonnet off and clambered over (and under) the car, I noticed that when we put the key in the ignition a turned it to position 2, the needles on the speedo and Rev guage weren't doing their customary shimmy (that on my Sigma 150) they have always done or making the noise they make whilst the needle dance is occurring. A call to Kevin at Caterham South revealed that the ECU has to be able to "see" some of the instruments (he didn't elaborate as to which ones) and if it can't see them, it won't send a signal to the spark plugs to fire. Once the fuse was replaced and the cause of the fuse blowing was found (failed wheel speed sensor) all was well again. I appreciate the above is probably not the cause or cure, but I thought I'd post it for just in case! Mike
  21. Thanks all I shall try to take a look tomorrow Mike
  22. So as it was a lovely day and I had a card to deliver, I got the 7 out today. I managed about 300m before as I (slowly as I knew the roads on the estate were slippery) went round a right hander, I hit some ice both front wheels lost traction and I believe stopped rotating (I didn't brake, not wanting to make things worse) I slid ahead and the side of the wheel struck the kerb square on and I bounced off. I struck the kerb at I guess 5-10MPH. I stopped and looked at the tyre (no obvious damage) and the wheel (just scrapes and loss of paint). Nothing appeared to be loose or bent/broken on the outside and I had the bonnet off to check the the chassis. No dents on the panels near the area. So I carried on with my trip. Car drove normally with all the squeaks I'd associate with it. Questions is: Is it worth getting it checked over properly? If so anyone recommend anyone in the Kent/Sussex area (Seven's and Classics are only 15 mins away) Mike
  23. I know this is going to sound an odd request, but could I have a pic of the Roll Bar please? Thanks Mike
