  1. Quoting sambler: Speedo used to fluctuate and then go to zero above 50/60mph. It would then recover as speed dropped and continue to fluctuate. Precisely what mine did on the Blat up to the 2012 IOM trip, prior to: Quoting SM25T: .... cable tied to the chassis tubes ... chafed through ...... and ended up immobilising the car too. Yep, blew the instrument cluster fuse, which caused the ECU to freak out as it couldn't see the instruments and it shut down the fuel pump. On the plus side, once it had been taken care of by a member of this parish on the IOM , we were back in action! And further fiddling by SM25T and others found more speed 😬 Mike
  2. Spotted this afternoon @ 15:50. I didn't get colour as was concentrating on driving my puddle jumper rental, but gave you a Great day for it! Mike
  3. I've only had the one go when there was a fault with the speedo sensor at the back of the car, which took out the instrument cluster fuse. Like Nick, I have a bag of spares (and other assorted bits) on board! Mike
  4. I'm going to ask a dim question - and before anyone from North Kent, East Sussex or Kentish Weald says it: Whats new there then 😳 I'm aware that my (Factory Built) 2007 SV has said switch and I'm aware that there is cabling that is in the same position as in Roadracer1977's photo but not connected to anything. Question is when did CC start actually connecting it all up, I've only seen one other 7 with the warning light on when the hand brake is on. Mike
  5. Before we moved to the current place that has a garage, my se7en lived out on the drive under a Cover-Zone "StormForce" cover. Never had any bother from heavy rain or 4" of snow, car was always dry and moisture free inside. Mike
  6. I'd like the 2x cycle wing repeaters please Mike
  7. A random request but here we go. We're getting rid of a bunch of HP DC8100 Elite PC's @ work, which all come with Windows 7 Pro Licences, and we are giving them to a charity. Problem is, we've chucked all the recovery disks out as we use a corporate image. I'd quite like the charity to be able to make use of the licences that come with the machines (I know that MS having "Charity" pricing on licences, but save a pound here and there etc etc). Does anyone have a set of Windows 7 Pro x64 recovery DVD's for the DC8100 that they could copy/send me, in exchange for a donation from me to NTL? Thanks Mike
  8. If the weather is good, I've hoping to drive the se7en in to work on the 27th and 31st as I've nabbed a parking space in the office . For those who do make it out and about - Happy Christmas Blatting Mike
  9. Quoting Martin Jeffrey: I think I would be asking Richard to fix it if it was my car. Yep, me too!

    get cool

Quoting John Milner: If the car has a heater check the valve is not set to slightly open when it should be closed. This is a point well made, I suffered the same issue (not that I'd really noticed it) until it was noticed and fixed on a trip to Automotive Engineering (run by jj48 of this parish).
  11. So, it turns out that if you have a "smart" gas meter (of the type that was we've had installed) you need it's opposite number in the electrical department installed too. Which we don't have. Because the gas meter can't see the smart electrical meter, it keeps resetting. BG own the electrical meter, but not the gas one as it's owned by another firm who are nothing to do with BG, thus they need the other lot to swap the gas one back to a std one, as the wait time for a smart 'leccy meter is measured in months. This is also the 4th issue of the wrong meter being installed by the other firm that's been reported this week. Ho hum
  12. This meter isn't even that Smart, I think it's function when switched on (according to the installer), is to do an ET and phone home via a build in GSM modem at tell them what the meter reading is I've spoken to someone at BG who says my meter isn't setup properly, but since then I've been cut off twice from the correct "Smart Meter" dept
  13. This is well off topic, but I know there are a few British Gas engineers about these parts About 4 months ago the LED display on Gas Meter gave up the ghost an BG arranged for a new "Smart" one to be fitted. At first I thought I'd broken it as one day we had no Gas and when I looked at the meter is was asking me to press various buttons to get gas - the previous day I'd had to wake it up to get a meter reading, so thought I'd upset it with my button pressing to get the meter reading. About a fortnight ago we woke up in a cold house and again the same thing, today it happened again. Having looked on line, it seems I have some "Pay as You Go" meter that needs a card, which is odd as I'm not on pay as you go and have no card. On hold with BG at the moment, with an estimated 40 min hold time. Anyone else had similar? Any BG engineers know if I need to do something to fix it? - I had a 3 month wait to have it replaced last time and don't want similar this time Thanks Mike
  14. Does anyone have an EOS 60D or a 7D in good condition that they'd like to sell? Was in Park Cameras today (SWMBO was purchasing my Christmas present) and I suffered with a dose of itchy shutter release finger and I went wondering to the Canon stand but decided to hold back, as I figured someone here might have one they like to part with (just the body unless there's a deal to be done on a lens too 😬). Mike
  15. Yep, I used SE Tyres when I was in Sidcup for the 7 and Tin Top and have visited their Tonbridge Wells place now I'm @ Paddock Wood. IIRC the 2 Toyo Proxes T1 R's they popped on the 7 for me were the same as Blackcircles. They took care of the 7 (were very surprised that the tyre pressures I asked for) and they had a low level jack to get under the back end. Only reason that I'm not using them for the tin top tyre that's going on in about and hour was the mobile fitting chappie Symmo recommended was £2 more than SE Tyres but he's coming to me. UPDATE: Symmo's man is a top chap - just had the nail removed from the tyre and a patch applied. That's saved £160, which I shall put in the "new rear tyres for after next years blatting season" pot Mike Edited by - michaeljclark on 19 Nov 2013 17:25:20
  16. If they can be got to my office near Moorgate in the City by Saturday, I'm working this weekend and can get them back to me (Paddock Wood) and could arrange to meet you? Any good? Mike
  17. Ears pointing down on my 2007 SV Mike
  18. Hi Adrian, is the 7D body still available? Regards Mike
  19. Followed you from Tonbridge to Paddock Wood along the B02017 - excellent day for it Mike
  20. Spotted you 10 cars in front of us Great day for a Blat! Mike
  21. Hi Clive I had to nip to the garage for something so had a quick look in my "Carerham Box of Bits" 😳 Could you send me a BlatMail so that I can reply and send you a picture of what I have. I've got the "nut and bolt" parts (but not the washer) as shown in the Caterham item here. I just want to make sure we are talking on the same lines. Cheers Mike Edited by - michaeljclark on 25 Aug 2013 21:28:04
  22. I can take a look in the garage tomorrow and see if I've got some spares, as I think I got some from Oxted Trimming when I had some work done Mike
  23. SWMBO and I were headed into town as we spotted you filling up. Hope you had a good blat! Mike & Kirsty
