  7. 16000 miles Great road & track Caterham, Owned by myself and a friend for the last 7 years, sadly lack of use and growing families forces this sale. Absolutely massive history file all MOTs & invoices, only 3 prev owners. 12 months MOT Corner weighted at 557kg with fuel & fluids- much lighter than a regular Vauxhall HPC at 600+kg & is circa 180bhp, so its pretty rapid. Engine & running gear- Vauxhall 2L 16v XE Engine on twin webers, Circa 175-180bhp or so & massive torquey midrange. SBD Dry sump set up, full rebuild approx 7k miles ago, QED rod bolts, Raceco titanium silencer- (Reliable 96db @4500 static so no trackday noise issues) Ford type 9 Gearbox (5 speed) rebuilt at James Whiting/Road & Race 3000 miles ago Ford English axle fitted with Quaife 4.1 LSD - rebuilt 2000 miles ago Mintex 1144 front pads - Freestyle (Avo) adjustable platforms & dampers with James Whiting sevens special brew rear suspension, incorporating a 4 link setup, very light & strong & with the English axle will handle much more power 6 13" minilite wheels - graphite coloured (4 with brand new Toyo 888s, 2 bare rims) Powervamp lightweight battery. Interior/Exterior- 2x Tillet Race seats and nearly new Titon harnesses - Racetech quick release suede wheel Lowered floors both sides. Caterham replaceable aeroscreen, SPA central mirror and half doors (Also full heated windscreen (crack in passenger corner), full doors & SoftBits half-hood. Spare wheel carrier, currently not fitted.) Yellow bodywork with front and rear fibreglass wings replaced last year. Real carbon small headlights, with integrated indicator repeaters. Other- Its clean & tidy but not utterly mint (Rear panel has some knocks and the usual "patina" spots on the bodywork.) , but its clean & honest & a cracking road & track Caterham, definitlely following Colin Chapman's "add lightness" principles, It handles beautifully & at around 340 bhp/ton is a lot lot more grunty than a similarly priced K series car. A great intro to Caterham ownership, and absolutely ready to enjoy on road or track. Located- Reading, Berks £11,500 Call me on 07718 996612 Very, regretable sale (Additional set of 4 minilite wheels shod with used Michelin slicks and 4 Weller steel wheels shod with new Yokohama A021-R wet/damp tyres available on first refusal to the buyer at an additional £400 ) (Photos - http://www.lotus7.club/blogs/1999-caterham-7-2l-16v-vauxhall)
  8. with an R400 # plate. Just coming into Reading from J11 of the M4 - sounded lovely!
  9. inspired by this Nigel?
  10. Thanks Stu - appreciate your honest opinion
  11. I'm looking at this rollcage on ebay [rollcage] I haven't come across this type of cage before - does it attach to a standard rollbar? (I've asked the seller, I'm just looking for a wider set of opinions) Thanks Dave
  12. Cracking car - and quite subtle in black compared to the 'normal' blue ones. Good luck with the sale
  13. Thanks Andy - getting it up on the ramp tonight to take a look
  14. I finally dug my car out of hibernation today, having not driven it since November The clutch was corroded to the flywheel so had to start it in gear and tease it away. All was fine, went to fill up with fuel and have a shakedown, 3-4 miles in and the rear nearside is making a clonk clonk noise on when easing up on the throttle. No noise when on the throttle. Could it be? A-frame bush (hopefully) Halfshaft LSD/Diff Any pointers gratefully received Dave
  15. Ads7 - it was my brother who brought it
  16. I had a knocking on my live axle after it had been overhauled - it turned out to be the handbrake cable had not been secured and was flapping about under cornering. I hope your problem is as simple to solve...
  17. It is the one that features the boomerang Maser 3200 GT, There is a Driven report of a Clubsport 1800 Caterham with Dickie Meaden at the wheel, and the inside back cover has an advert for the Superlight R, featuring reg. no. R352 BMV, and shouting about the Nurburgring time of 8:06.2 it posted. The only Porsche featured is a 911 GT1 road car! And the only mention of Ferrari is in a Russell Bulgin article on the rise of the diesel performance car, speculating if there would ever be a 355 GTD. I've just noticed a 1.5cm rip on the last page.
  18. Issue 1 of EVO Magazine from November 1998. Very rare magazine in good used condition. No tears or rips or pages missing. £35 + p&p
  19. I've replaced the rivnuts on my car with well nuts [find on ebay- used for motorbike farings] No special tools required to fit and 2 yrs on still solid.
  20. Windscreen going spare after I replaced it with a black framed one on my '98 car. Heated and tinted, one of the spade connectors has been pulled off when removing the screen, the glass has no cracks or stonechips. £200 collected from Reading, Berkshire. (Its on ebay aswell, where you can see pics: ebay)
  21. Talking to myself - but looks like its ventilation needed to cure condensation rather than water ingress. Looking into solar ventilation such as this: http://www.thesolarcentre.co.uk/products/Solar_Powered_Smart_Vent_100_Plastic_Coated-301-2.html
  22. My garage is essentially a big wooden shed with double doors on the front. (It's a good fit for the 7) When the shed was built I lined the walls with plastic sheeting, put in glass wool insulation then covered over with plyboard. I left the roof alone, and being shed construction there are small gaps between the shed and the walls. the issue that I have is that damp seems to spread up the inside of the roof from these gaps where the roof meets the side walls, at about 6 points . I don't know if the gaps are the root cause, the roofing felt seems in good order, the only place there could be any ingress is the staples that were used to attach the felt to the roof panels. Any tips on preventing this damp in the roof? Its starting to warp the boards that make up the roof and go an unsightly black.... Edited by - davedlr on 11 Nov 2013 11:23:40
