New Clutch K -Series

My CRB needs replacing again. ☹️ I have now done over 30,000 miles, so I will replace the clutch at the same time. With this in mind, I will need to decide which clutch to use. My engine output is around 195BHP, therefore would it be a good idea to replace it with the Caterham uprated version, or will the standard clutch be ok?

I look forward to the replies.

Regards

John

Most of the class 5 sprinters (200+ bhp), including me, use the AP clutch. It works well and seems to last even with 250bhp engines.

Please double check these, but I think the part numbers are: 72603R (cover) and 72602R (plate).

John,

If your premature CRB failure was caused by inadequate pre-load (most are, IMO), you might like to consider increasing the pre-load with an extra spring or two acting on the clutch pedal. Do a search on "CRB and pre-load" -- you'll find bucketfuls of info available. If you'd like a copy of the LF article I wrote on this very subject, send me a blatmail.
