  1. When I carpet lined the VW Transporter, high temperature contact adhesive was recommended!
  2. What about a wheel schrader valve fitted into the extended tube?
  3. I dont think the cans are reuseable. before proceeding you need to look carefully at the replacement boots and whether they’ll stretch and slide over the joint??
  4. Was there anything common about the mode of failure? I’ve read that lifting a wheel with an ATB fitted (I know this has a ZF) can cause drive shafts to snap on landing.
  5. I think they are called duraboot. You also need a cone and lube to stretch/slide them on over the CV joint
  6. Strangely, the lowered floor also makes the footwell more comfortable for my size 11s along with a bigger gap between knees and steering wheel meaning I can have a 290 momo. This in turn (no pun intended) means less jarring on the wrists!
  7. I did find some on Autodoc a couple of years ago.
  8. I have a cage on mine and at 6’1 and a bit I always stick my bum in the passengers face when climbing in! You dont mention whether you have a detachable steering wheel - I don’t think I could get in mine without it. I also have a lowered floor which makes a massive difference to comfort for tall drivers! I’m in Broughton Astley if you want to try it! I think you’re fairly local to me.
  9. Report back on how you get on. When mine need doing again it will probably be using stretchy ones!! Ian
  10. 3 lengths of cage padding, one has been notched slightly. Fits to 32mm diameter cage tubes. Currently £42 each at demon tweaks. £50 plus postage or collect LE9. I’ll be going to Donington next Sunday. Ian
  11. There were a load sold on ebay back in 2021 without dipstick and I did a mini bulk buy (including 21Jigsaw IIRC) as they were about a fiver each. A wanted advert may yield a spare. TBH they’re only a bit of turned ally. It must really grate having a se7en badge on a 21 😂
  12. I didnt use any lubricant when I fitted new gaitors to my rack. They’re thin rubber and stretch.
  13. I got mine new from BG Developments - purportedly the same one is used on a We$¥fi€ld !
  14. Personally, I wouldn’t put washing up liquid anywhere near engineered components. I can only assume GB was being facetious!
  15. They would also be useful for anyone who has taken a cage off as the forward legs use 7/16 bolts (seatbelt size). Look like they would cover to holes in the side skin.
  16. Just spotted on a Caterham for sale a couple of O rings on each of the bonnet springs - could be there to stop rubbing or rattling?
  17. Have you got the AP uprated brake M/C ? That comes with a plain cap / bellows. With the normal cap, leakage can occur on trackdays / sprints etc making a mess of the paintwork!!
  18. The throttle cable touches on some cars - any witness marks on the underside of the bonnet?
  19. Belmont in Stoney Stanton. I’m in Broughton BTW 👍
  20. Tyre sizes, particularly profile also affect comfort. 13s tend to have more sidewall than 15s so ride a bit softer.
  21. Like this if anyone is wondering - car (not mine) at Curborough. You could always try Arch and see if they’ll make you one.
  22. And googleing the caterham part number, EDP9976, it returns results of a rover part associated with the fuel filter adaptor.
  23. Bit of research and they are listed as a part…. https://caterhamparts.co.uk/gaskets/746-o-ring-fuel-filter-adaptor-to-pipe-rover.html
  24. I changed the fuel filter on my ‘98 K series car yesterday. I made three observations… 1) the new Bosch filter 0986 450 119 has an identical sticker on it compared to the Mann 612/2 I took off. 2) the grommet where the fuel hose passes through the boot floor metalwork had perished and partly disappeared. I replaced with a 20mm electrical open grommet, cut so I could get it around the hose then carefully poked into place with a small well used screwdriver. 3) the two metal fittings attached to the filter seemed to have tiny O rings. On this last point, I dont recall reading anything on blatchat about their replacement? What is the POBC thinking on this? All went back together OK and no leaks but if they should be changed as part of a filter swap I’d like to be prepared for next time and help others do the same! Ian
