  1. Photo doesn't work. I'd be interested but the wife would kill me - I need to sell about 12 (non Caterham) wheels before I can buy any more without a divorce 😞
  2. You may be insured to drive (which I find VERY strange) but you're not legally ALLOWED to drive. You don't have an MOT. You can only drive without an MOT to an MOT centre (of which the IVA test centre counts in this case as an MOT centre as you then get a 2 year MOT exemption). The Caterham Silverstone site doesn't count ..... unless they're a registered MOT centre and you're booked in for an MOT. However if they then give you an MOT this causes the system to insist you need a new MOT every year despite the IVA meaning you don't need one.
  3. Instinctively I'd go down so if one but fell off the bolt would still be doing something to stop any twist on the bracket. I've not done iva but wouldn't expect it would make much difference to them if it's up or down as long as the nuts are nyloc. Practically, how easy will it be to get a spanner or socket on a nut if you go upwards with the bolt?
  4. Looks like we've got the same brackets
  5. What is the 'old style mounting'. I've got a 2001 Caterham. Would love them but don't want to repeat your mistake.
  6. I've only ever requested a quote and replied to questions via email. That has been ridiculously quick - however I believe its one person so if they're busy you'll have to wait.
  7. Interesting points to think about, thank you. My plate is larger than the fia plate caterham sell & positioned so my head hits the middle - although in a cash I appreciate my head/ body could move so I might hit it elsewhere. The concern then would be if I hit it higher or lower causing the twist. I've written this response a few times as I've thought it through. The plate can only twist to align to my head / neck shape as my head and neck are attached (currently 😀). This means the plate can't twist so I have a sharp edge towards me on the first impact. On the second impact it's possible for to my body to move so the plate isn't "square" to my body. Is it possible for it to move so much I've got an "edge" towards my body? I don't think so but I want to think about that some more. Regarding the caterham chamfers, they're not that large, it's 1.5mm (guess) steel folded 90 degrees - so quite an edge. The advantage is the foam is larger which I'll look to review on my approach.
  8. Matt (procomp) supports a lot of the locost and Westfield racers. From my limited dealings with him he's very down to earth and practical. He won't sell it if it doesn't work & that's kept him and his father before him in business for years. I'm sure spending more money will get you better quality, but I think of it as deminishing returns. I don't need to chase 0.1s a lap so I don't need 2k shocks.
  9. I'm aware of nick and have spoken to him about potentially getting some work done, if he was more local i'd use him. I'm challenged by needing to do it during the week and not having any time to take off so doing it within a lunch hour. With the history of Caterham in Hinckley (Caterham Midlands and Macmillan Motorsport) I'd assumed their would be a few garages used to MOT'ing them.
  10. Does anyone have any recommendations of a MOT station in Hinckley for the Caterham? I'm aware of Hilltop Service Station who used to do Caterham Midland MOTs, but is there anyone else people would recommend? (my only issue with Hilltop is I couldn't practically do it in the time I have for my lunch break).
  11. I've been thinking of going to Darren for a quote, when did you get them from procomp?
  12. About 1.30 today, A5 by Hinckley a yellow non FIA roll bar caterham heading towards Nuneaton. I was heading towards the m69 & in the red mini with flashing headlights & waving (sorry). I should have been in my caterham but my (soon to be disowned) soon refused to come with me unless we were in a tin top. We were only nipping to McDonald's ☹️
  13. I got one of these too attach to the screen. Will hopefully get a picture later. Seemed a bargain for 9 pounds. Fitted so it's holding the phone just above my eyeline for the fuel gauge. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B09TB8FVRW/ref=ox_sc_act_image_1?smid=A2V0AKEJVFOD4O&psc=1
  14. I think the advice was swap every 4 years so i'm hopeful you'll be fine. I worried lots about should i replace or remove. No idea or evidence when mine was last replaced but it was crispier than crispy seaweed and with less structural integrity. I decided to remove and use the modified sump gasket. After a few hundred miles i've had no obvious problems and am happy. Oil pressure is very stable.
