  1. Arch may have welded new bosses at the new centres when they refurbed the chassis a few weeks ago. I don't yet have the car back to check though. Is there a template for an adaptor plate and more to the point will scuteneers accept them!
  2. I picking sorting the helmet and HANS in the next couple of weeks, but wasn't aware of an issue with the belt mounts? Tim
  3. Thanks to everyone who's replied. I'm happy being in Mod Prod with the A048's. It's a shame the Blue book isn't more specific. A simple clause stating tyres are 'free' in Mod Prod would have been helpful.
  4. B*gger. So as a 1C classification L 2.7 States; Does this mean that A048's excluded from the Sprint regs or would they put the car in to Libre or is there another clause which I've missed? The only other place I see reference to tyres in S11.6.2 (but that is Roadgoing not modified!) I can't find reference to 1C in any other sprint classification. The speed championship seems to be more on the case allowing 1C tyres in classifications 6 & 7 is there any cross-over with the MSA sprint regs? The Blue Book makes things rather confusing! Tim
  5. Thanks Richard, In the Blue book I didn't see reference to wheel/tyre sizes for the R888's. Is it buried somewhere else? I'm still a little confused over the MSA tyre classification for the A048's It can either be read. that the A048 can be used but if OE in the sizes mentioned they should also be marked 'LTS'. Or, They can only be used in these sizes as they are OE and marked with 'LTS'. Tim
  6. This is for the normal MSA classes. Although it might be good to know how it stand in the speed championship if I get tempted. Tim
  7. A bit of help needed, Following a major re-build I'm trying to work out the Sprint classification for my car, it's either 'Road-going production' or 'Modified series production'. My queries are around the follow spec. Car is a 1995 Supersport. Engine: 1800cc K-series Dry-sump with 1 litre catch tank Multiple throttle bodies Emerald ECU Body Aero-screen half doors un-modified Chassis Standard S3 Wide track Roll bar FIA tall bar with petty strut. Tyres Either Toyo 888's or Yoko AVAN A048 R On the latter I'm a bit confused by the blue book where it makes reference to '...OE fitments marked LTS in sizes 195/50x16 & 225/45x17 only). Does this mean these tyres are generally permitted unless in these sizes when they must also have 'LTS' marked on them? I’m thinking the car will be 'Modified series production’, as it has a modified induction but I can’t find reference to ECU. is the ECU spec free? Advice much appreciated Tim
  8. Hi Adam, I believe that there is a way, I thought there wer instructions on the Emerald website but couldn't see them. They may be hidden inside one of the manuals. It'll be worth giving Dave or Carl a call. Tim
  9. ..... Or hire one from Book-a-track, I've done this a couple of times http://www.bookatrack.com/shop Scroll down a bit Tim
  10. I've just picked up a bag of 15mm SS cable Tie Bigheads and have 8 which are surplus to requirements. They are available to anyone willing to cross my palm with £18 (inc postage). Tim
  11. STILL AVAILABLE Ed Was a lucky man and was bought a pair of door by his wife so doors and screen still available.
  12. A nice package received in the post on Chrstmas Eve. Thank you.Tim

    Its all about me!

A great idea. I'll set myself a task to write up my own mini-biog. Tim
  14. I have pair of YC plastics Half doors which are surplus to requirements. They've never been fitted and are un-marked. The doors are fitted outside the scuttle. The drivers door has a standard cut out in the leading edge lower corner. They're in a nice carbon effect finish. Yours for £50 plus postage. I also have a half aeroscreen also in carbon effect. I bought this thinking it was a full one. It weighs next to bog-all so if you're after lightness just add this! It'll be even lighter if you take off the protective film! Yours for £10 plus P&P Tim

    Well! It's started!

Almost there. The only thing missing is electricity! Bling new anthracite wheels and new rubber. The only dial not replace is the speedo and is letting the side down rather so new one ordered. New dash layout is rather nice. Just needs a loom. Wide track fitted I still have the cage but have bought an FIA roll bar for road use. Just a couple more things to come, the areoscreen and bracket and new Mog half doors which will be rather special!
  16. Hi Neil, Guess what, I'd like to go on the list for a pair too. Tim

    Well! It's started!

It's all coming along quite nicely now, most things are fitted where they should and some very nice Jenveys fitted. Just one thing stopping it from being fired up..... A wiring loom! The old one was completely toast, lots of carbon build-up under the insulation and it had been chopped about a lot too. Next week it's off to DC Electronic in Essex for a custom loom to be installed. It should be bullet proof and will be extensively tested before I get it back. I'd hoped to have the car back before Christmas but it will be mid-January now. A few pics below of progress to-date.
  18. Now things are becoming a bit confusing. I've been in touch with Titan and they have a couple of parts, one for the early kit (a) and another for the later kit (b) Exhibit A Exhibit B it won't take long for you to spot these are a little different to the pictures previously posted. Both variants are 5/8 BSP. I have asked Titan to confirm if sufficient oil can be flowed to satisfy the gold pump's needs, but it makes me think, did Caterham modify the Titan kit. If anyone with a gold kit could photograph their sump outlet and post it here it would be most helpful. Tim
  19. Hi Darren, I've pretty much come to the same conclusion as you that Titan must have made two different sump pans! Dave from Titan should have the info when he gets back to me. The OD of the purple bit appears to be 7/8" this reduces down to 3/4" ID. There doesn't seem to be enough 'meat' between the main bole in the casting and the 8mm bolts either side to allow it to be reamed out to 1". If there is a way to ditch the purple insert then this would increase the diameter closer to the desired 1" but then a different solution would need to be found to filter the oil before it got back to the scavange pump. If worst comes to the worst I might have to find someone to make up a suitable union for the bottom of the pan, if I did I'd try and get one with a 90 degree elbow to simplify the hose run to the pump. Tim
  20. What an interesting thread and good timing too. i'm also in the process of upgrading from purple to gold pump as I type (actually the car is at the 7-workshop and Chris is doing it!). One issue he has discovered is that the purple oil pick-up mentioned above is a 3/4" spigot and the gold pump is 1", rather than stepping down the flow with a reducer it needs a replacement 1" spigot. I've just been in touch with Titan and they're coming back to me. Will up-date when i get any info. Tim
  21. After Simons excellent work with Caged I gave Safety Devices a call. It seems that for older cages it might be difficult as identification of a material change used on identical frames will be difficult to determine. However, the advice given to me was to first to inspect the cage for any identifying marks or stamps and then photograph the frame from several angles (preferably in Hi Def) and email them to motorsport@safetydevices.com. From the photographs they may be able to work out which cage it is identifiable a new homologation sticker. Could be issued. I didn't ask the question about the posting of the sticker. First things first, I need to find out if Safety devices can work out what I have. Tim
  22. Hi Rob, i currently have a 1995 car with an OE roadsport cage. Unless OE equipment is accepted without the stamp it looks like there will be a lot of owners swapping roll cages in the next few months. I better look in the piggy bank. Tim
  23. In the event that a car is classed mod prod what cages are available to make a caterham compliant? Is there a gap (gaping chasm) in the market? tim
