  2. I remove the oil from my drysump tank with CJ136 oil extractor. Fabulous bit of kit hand pump to create vacuum it then sucks all the oil out in minutes, also good for diffs , gearboxes and even brake master cyinder
  3. I have just fitted the Mocal mechanical gauge last week and had the same on my previous 7. Merlin supplied:- Adapter M12 X 1.5 X 1/8th BSP male/male Mocal 52 mm Oil pressure Gauge 0-100 PSI Oil pressure pipe 1.5Metres long total cost inc vat and delivery £53.38. The Mocal gauge is a pretty good match for the Caterham instrements and the caterham gauge illumination bulb/ fitting also fits the Mocal so no electrical mods needed. Fitting is a 30minute job easy. For those with a faulty electrical sender its possible to carefully prise open the sender and you will probably find that the winding bobin or reostat has brocken free of its fixings, you can refix using epoxy then re-swage the case and it will work again Cheerio Rob
  4. Anyone got a caterham windscreen washer bottle with filler cap that they no longer need? The previous owner drilled holes all over the top of my bottle to use it as a oil catch tank now no use as a washer bottle. Thanks. Rob

  7. Malcom, Yes its possible to replace the bearing from the alloy tensioner pulley. THe alloy pulley was an R500 upgraded part made by Titan. Gently heat the pulley and tap on a hard surface the bearing should drop out, the bearing should have identifying numbers stamped on it ebay is your friend for a replacement. Cheerio Rob
  8. I have a full 1.6Kss engine installation including side exhaust with integral cat. Its still in the car so could be heard running however its a long way from OH. I am not going Duratec I have had two a 2L 250 bhp and a 2.3L 280 bhp but will be replacing the 1.6 K ss with another 1.6K only this one has a ported head and slightly hotter cams and a lot of balancing work done. The 1.6K is my favourite engine in a S3 caterham. My Tel is 01275 371255 if you need any more details Cheerio Rob
  9. Sparco profi 3 Layer Nomex race suit size 60. The suit is a quality box stitched type and the colour is sky blue with white stitching cost £400 new. 10. I lined the cockpit sides and peddle box ( cockpit side) with radiator heat reflection sheeting which is available from most DIY stores got mine from Wicks. Stuck it to the panelling with double sided tape. I also wrapped the primaries. If this is not effective enough for you then the only real answer is to run a length of ducting to a point infront of the radiator and cut a hole into the peddle box lid to let the cold air ducting blow on to your feet and legs. However you may enjoy the heat in the coming months.
  11. Hi JPE , S type /no headrest version.

Note the tonneau is for use with the S type seats & does not have the pockets to fit over tillet type seats Cheerio Rob
  13. I bought a full set of wings from kitcarbitz. It took 3 months for them to complete the order. On inspection I found star cracks in the gel coat, deep scratches and other marks where the moulds had not been cleaned properly. Cheap stuff but poor quality if thats your thing, I would avoid.
  14. A constant squeal dosent sound right. not belt slip by any chance? Titan do a pump overhaul service if you suspect that is make the noise.
  15. Steve, With the engine sealed the Gold scavenge pump can pull a very slight vacuum at idle revs. The clucking noise is when most of the oil has been sucked out of the sump pan. Similar to sucking a milkshake out of a glass you get a similar sound when you try to suck out every drop from the bottom of the glass. I would leave the system sealed it is slightly more efficient at getting air bubbles out of the oil. I used to get some funny looks from other drivers at the traffic lights, I am assuming it was the clucking that prompted them. Some say that the clucking noise is air being pulled past the crank seals, this theory has been dispproved. Rob
  16. Hi Mark, I have a good 1.6K ss that you can have for £500. It is still in my 2003 roadsport so you can hear it running before its removed. It currently has a Caterham dry sump Pan fitted this would not be included in the sale so you would need to transfer your exsisting sump pan I am local to you at the west side of Bristol Abbots leigh. Tel 01275 371255 Cheerio Rob
  17. Mark , Sounds like your alternator is not functioning well as I would have expected it to be producing usefull output at anything abouve 1500 rpm, or is of a different spec to those that I have used, I have built several cars + engines with the 130mm CP and 64mm AP and the Nippon Denso alternator off the Diahatsu Charade and the Edge Alternator/Cambridge M/sport and never had any issues of non charging at tick over. Rob
  18. To follow on from Mics post, it has been my experience that the slave cylinder fitted without restriction can lead to the clutch cover fingures being damaged by over extension, this then allows the slave cylinder to over extend. I always fitted a stop on the master cylinder actuator rod set up to the point at which the clutch disengauged. This was a 50mm length of flat bar with three holes in it the centre one the slave cylinder actuator rod passed through the other two holes had screwed rod and lock nuts on them so that the bar could be mounted to the peddle box and be adjusted in or out to restrict travel in the actuator rod. Sorry I no longer have a Duratec car to photograph for you. Rob
  19. Using the 130mm crank pulley and 64mm alternator pulley gives roughly 2x crank rpm so recon on the red line being around 7500 to 8000 rpm= 15,000 to 16000 alt revs. At tickover 800 rpm will give you 1,600 which should keep the charging light out
  20. I have only ever used the stock Ford crank pulley that has the harmonic damper and timing wheel they are 130mm
  21. I have always used the Cosworth Alternator pulleys Part no YDO 310 and they are 64mm I think Caterham also use the same. Never had any charging issues at tick over again with the Nippon Denso small alternator which is off a Diahatsu Charade , brise rotate the field Coil to get the connection terminal in the right place and also use some grub screws to secure field coils other than that its the same. Rob
  22. Hi Bill you could always ring me if you need info. 6L is far too much for your installation and will cause the engine to overheat if filled with 6L. The Raceline sump takes 4.5L then add a bit for the oil filter and oil cooler. BIM Its never possible to get all the oil out without a strip down so I would start with adding 4.5L and check your dip stick you may need to add a little more up to 0.5L Cheerio Rob
